The location is excellent, parking is difficult in a nearby parking garage. Floors were creaky, towels and bath mats had holes in them. Food was good. Staff was friendly and helpful. All in all a mixed experience, might check out another hotel next time as I felt the room was overpriced.

Overall, the experience at this hotel was average. I had two instances when things did not go right:
1. The room was not cleaned up until close to 6:00 PM, after I reminded them at least three times.
2. The ice maker across from my room was making a loud sound at night and it was fixed quickly after I called.
Overall, less than average expected for a brand-name hotel.

We would like to thank the staff of the Sheraton in Columbia for going above and beyond. Our daughter got married a week ago and this was the hotel where all the guest stayed. This was a busy weekend (graduation celebrations, private parties and other weddings) yet the staff assisted in all ways. Everyone was helpful and very friendly. Again, thank you for making this a memorable weekend.

I had driven four straight hours prior to my stay and lost my check card so I had no choice but to drive the four hours back. I called SPG and Denise (who was incredible) connected me to the Sheraton Columbia where I not only used my points, but was upgraded so my 7 year-old and I could get something to eat for dinner and breakfast as I had very little cash. Kate at the front desk was amazing. She was so very caring, understanding and professional. The staff in the lounge was great as well. The hotel is amazing. My daughter is a hotel junkie so she kept saying "Oh my gosh". The bed was so comfortable and all the amenities were great. I could go on and on but suffice it to say, this was one of the best hotel stays I've ever had!

A very nice hotel, indeed. Great recognition asa platinum memember with suite upgrade and vouchers for appetizers and drinks. Near to all that Columbia has to offer. Jerrica at the front desk was wonderful and a superb front person for the hotel and the Sheraton brand.

My boyfriend and I drove down from Ohio to see a concert, upon arrival we found out the concert was cancelled, we were very upset. Brittney and the other hotel receptionist were absolutely great, they helped to make the stay more enjoyable! They gave us several recommendations of things to do in the city, as well as giving us directions and answering any questions we had. The shuttle service was very convenient and the rooftop bar was an added bonus. The room was clean and very nice. The staff and the features of this hotel made our stay very satisfying!

Excellent rooms, wonderful location, very accommodating staff and very comfortable rooms. This hotel has charm, offers a range of experiences from a unique "vault bar" to a rooftop bar experience. Many other venues are within easy walking distance and great to way to "get out and explore" on foot. Best way to see the city!

Our $500+ a night suite on the Club floor was not ready for us until 5PM. When we got in the room, the AC was not working properly, the in room refrigerator was not working, we had only one robe, one set of towels, no bath mat. The ice machine on our floor and the floor above where the Club room was located did not work. When we ordered room service, something would always be left off. Complaints yo management fell on deaf ears, but we did get a refrigerator that we ad to stick in the middle of the floor, and the bath mat.

My husband and I are frequent guests at Sheraton Hotels, so we had certain expectations for this one. We were shocked to see that the price for valet parking was $22 per night, especially since they would park your car in the very same parking deck where we ended up parking for free. The room was adorable, as was the whole hotel. After being away all day we came back to our room to find that it had been cleaned, but we had no towels. We had to call the front desk twice to get all the towels and washcloths we needed. We went to the Main Street restaurant expecting some kind of Southern Comfort menu, since that was advertised in their elevators. We were not expecting to find the crazy, loud bar or a 30-minute wait for an appetizer (that wasn't very good). The food overall was a disappointment. The next morning we went to the club level to eat the breakfast for Gold Members (which is routine at all Sheraton's and the front desk had specifically told us was going to happen) only to find the room empty and no food in sight. When we asked about it, all we were told was that we were not the first to complain about it that day. We had to get home, so we couldn't stick around to find out if breakfast ever happened that day.

Upon check in, there was no greeting or asking about the SPG gold member welcome gift. We reserved a double bed on the club floor and when we checked in and got to the room it was a twin sized bed with barely enough room to walk. Went down to the front desk and she said she would give us an air mattress. After explaining there wasnt enough floor space for one she was able to find a 1 bed suite and move us. An air mattress was dropped off with no offer to set it up or anything. Parking was limited as well

We checked in on a Friday afternoon. My husband was sitting at the desk using his computer while I was reading on the bed.
I overheard someone speaking Spanish outside our room and laughingly told my husband that it felt like we were at home, in Texas. Then, without a knock or identification, the door to our room was opened and a housekeeper handed in a few towels, while continuing her conversation on her cell phone. The next day, I was out most of the day but our room was not serviced at all....well maybe it was serviced if you consider dropping off three bathmats and a hand towel on the dresser servicing our room...the trash was emptied and used towels were removed. The bed was not made.The next morning we shared the one towel that was available. Your housekeepers need better training and closer supervision.

Neat little hotel that used to be a bank. It is in the heart of the old downtown area. The food at the hotel is average and what you would expect from a hotel restaurant. There are more than a dozen great places to eat with a 10 minute walk. I have stayed here a couple of times, and if I were to find myself in Columbia again, I would stay. I think it is a great location, the staff if friendly and helpful. The bar is really cool, albeit small. It is located in what used to be the bank vault. Seriously, you have to check it out. Not a bad pick for the business traveler, and I would absolutely consider this for either family or romantic travel.

This was my second stay at the Columbia Sheraton and I was not only dissatisfied, I was embarrassed for my business associates.
Paying for the rooms via my business account, I was horrified when there were charges that were billed to my associate's personal credit card, when my associate wasn't even there. Also charged her personal account with valet service. These charges were asked to be placed on the company card at the time of check in.
There were also charges made, although minimum, to my associate's personal credit card that they had no record of in their system but they did not take the charges off. When my associate called and asked the Sheraton to send her the receipt, they were unable to do so. When she called to ask for all of the above to be rectified, the manager on duty was not only rude but lied to her several times and asked that my associate send the Sheraton her personal bank statement to prove there were charges because they could not find the charges in their own system. My associate asked the Sheraton to please call her bank to verify the charges, at which time, the manager on duty at the Sheraton hung up the phone on her. This all happened on the 12th and my associate has still not been able to remedy the problem, twelve days later. I had to get my upper management at our company involved. I have asked our company to no longer book events or stays at the Sheraton.

This is my first time staying here so didn't really know what to expect.
The building: Nice but slightly antiquated. The roof bar is awesome and it was completely full during my stay. It is a beautiful building, inside and out. The elevators are older so they shake a bit and creak, I don't think this is a bad thing. The only bad part of the building are the floors, or at least in my room. I love that they appear to be the original floors, but with all of the creaks, fluctuations, knobs, it feels like the floor is dirty even when it is not.
The two ladies at the front desk, Heather and Robyn, were very nice, knowledgeable, and great at what they did.
The door man, don't know his name, was very friendly and helpful as well.
Chris, with the restaurant, was also nice and friendly.
As I am in the middle of my stay, I can't speak for breakfast until tomorrow, but....dinner was very good, Ordered room service of hot wings and the spinach salad with a chicken breast and vinaigrette dressing (small). It was too much for me but the flavors were VERY good.
The only negatives (beside the floors) were: I don't like that Starwood does adds the gratuity on before hand. I always tip a basic 20% unless the service is horrible. Starwood doing this is kind of like a slap in the face and, as such, I leave what they put down. I understand that not everyone tips or tips well, but as an SPG member, I figure our habits at the hotels/resorts should be a part of our info. Also, $22 for valet is ridiculous unless the valet is only paid all of these monies. Again, why would you want to tip a guy you just had to pay that kind of money for?
Some places are better than others, but I really do like this hotel and wish that I had more time to stay here. If I am ever in this city again, I would gladly stay here and refer others to do the same.

While some of the hotel seemed charming (wood floors), the rooms were very small, and noisy. Many landing areas were not well kept. I would recommend staying at the hotel next door.

This hotel is a great find! The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly. I want to personally thank Jerrica and Danielle at the Front Desk for making our stay (with two small children) memorable. We will definitely be back on our return to Columbia - hopefully next year!
PS: Please give compliments to the chef - our food was excellent!

Hotel clean and staff very friendly and accommodating. Hotel is not pet friendly. While accepting pets with a hefty fee you could not go anywhere as pet is not allowed to be unattended so limited where I could go to eat etc.

Overall nice stay. Great staff especially Cedric (you made our time enjoyable) and the manager ( Thanks for our grits) at POSH restaurant. We stayed the weekend for a wedding. Check out a block away Cantina 76 great tacos. Older hotel, clean rooms, quiet atmosphere. I recommend it!

Weekly traveler to this location and noticed this past week that the complimentary club lounge wines have gone away without notice (a perk of a Sheraton Club Lounge if I recall), and the breakfast buffet was significantly reduced. As a premium product, charging guests for wine and other beverages after they have paid for club access cheapens the product.
Regardless of these amenity downgrades, the service - Cedric - is still top notch!

We had an outstanding stay at the Sheraton Columbia South Carolina, on 4-5 August 2012. The staff is very pleasant. During Check-in and "especially" during our Check-out the morning of the 5th, the front desk personnel and managent staff were outstanding. We love this hotel. This is our place to stay in Columbia!!!

We decided to book a room at the Sheraton Columbia to split up a road trip with our 2 young boys. We would have been happy with a standard hotel, but this was much more. Very cool design as it is in a converted bank, with the old vault as a martini lounge. The Club floor lounge was the most well-stocked lounge I have ever been in -complete with wait-staff and heavy (and healthy!) appetizers that could constitute a meal. Then we went upstairs (literally) to the roof-top bar. What a find! A great way to look out over Columbia, and exciting (and containing) for the kids, as well. The bartenders there were very accommodating with our menu requests for the young ones. The only regret is that we received an unrequested wake-up call at 6:30am! Yikes! Not great when you have 2 little ones that can't go back to sleep. Luckily, the Club lounge again impressed and we enjoyed a yummy breakfast together before getting on the road. Overall, a great find and great staff and we'll definitely be back!

We stayed here one night for a Masters practice round. We were shocked by this quaint and charming hotel. Cedric was great in the Club Lounge. We had breakfast and left. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying these accommodations.

We were interested in a particular downtown meeting. This hotel had every amenity to satisfy our wishes. We are retired and still want the services we were accustomed-to when we were actively involved in our careers. The facilities that offer Senior Rates and affordable services (food and beverages) are the ones we look for.

Started with front desk saying "oh, I didn't know you were bringing a dog"
Not sure how they could not know!
Wrote it online revs. And called!!!
But that was just the begining,
Rooms very small( I know it's an old building) rooms loud.
Roof top bar says it opens at 4 but that means 4:30!
Room service menu says 2 kinds of soup but they had none!!!
All I can say is there are a lot of other hotels in the area to pick from.
I will say roof top bar is nice tho.

The location was central to government offices on Bull Street and the University. I was pleasantly surprised to find so much characters at this property - combination of old charm and modern amenities. The wood floor is amazing. Thank you for the nice upgrade; suite 1202 was perfect.
The staff made my stay that much more pleasant, especially Ryan and Cedric in the club lounge. Both went out of their way to ensure I had a relaxing time while in the lounge. Thank you for the attention to details; I appreciate the personal touches.

Disappointing experience. Poor wireless connection. If you choose "green" option, no maid service at all. Many food items on the menu were not available for several days on end. No towels were replaced in gym. When called for assistance on wireless, put on hold and never taken off.

Shuttle drier was also friendly and fun on our quick drive to the Vista.

I am a Gold Star Member and have been a member with Sheraton since 2007. We own resorts with Sheraton and consistently utilize the hotels. I am a frequent user of the Columbia Sheraton hotel and have never had a terrible experience as I just had on my 2-4 Dec trip. I checked in 2 Dec and there was NO hot water. I had to take a cold shower. I spoke to Jeraka at the front desk and I was told that there was an issue with the water heater. Tues, 3 Dec approximately 4pm, I spoke to the GM (Nikolai) and told him about my experience the night before. He immediately became aggravated and raising his voice telling me to "go to my room and don't come back in the lobby or he will call the police". I felt like it was racial profiling. He was being nasty just because of the color of my skin. He continued to say things like, "if you don't like the accommodations, you can go to the hotel across the street that just remodeled." I asked him if he was treating me like this because I am black and he said, "You said it, I didn't!" I was truly offended
Thank you in advance for giving me the opportunity to share my negative experience. I still love the Sheraton Hotel and Resort, but I love good customer service even more!
