No cash excepted in hotel. I couldn't believe it. I refuse to work with a business who depends on tips to help staff and not except cash. The room was very old as the hotel. My immediate entrance to the hotel was poor. Very young staff, minimum wage type employees. Receptionist told me she has her own business and is not serious about a career in hotels. Waited much to long for a room. Went to the roof top lounge, nice, but they do not except cash. The eating area for breakfast was empty, I now know why. The service was ok, but the food was horrible and of course over priced. Over all it was one of the worst staffed hotels I every stayed in.

Rated 4 out of 5 Hotel with personality
We stayed here on a weeknight for a party at Columbia Museum of Art. It was comfortable and convenient. The hotel has cool features original to the historic building and is right on Main Street! It has a neat underground Starbucks on the bottom floor and another great, local coffee shop right across the street. I love the rooftop bar - great view of the city & river at night.
The room we stayed in this time was a little small but very clean and comfortable. It was stocked with starbucks coffee, robes, slippers, water, etc!

I initially thought the hotel was great--location was great, room was very nice. I stayed 2 nights. My sister had another room. On arrival early evening, i was told by the doorman, a very nice man, that I could park across the street for the night as long as I was gone early am, even though sign said no parking, loading zone. The next am I had a parking ticket. The front desk said they would take care of it, but 3 months later and I get a ticket from SC for $50, originally $12.50, with warning of increasing fine and credit bureau reporting. The manager, Nicoli ?, does not answer phone or return phone calls. Annoying and unethical!! I feel if the front desk says the fine will be paid, it should have been and manager should certainly respond to my phone calls. Very annoying.

First and foremost, this hotel is simply a slice of Southern charm, in the middle of downtown Columbia. The hotel is set in a restored, historic bank building, and even has a martini lounge in the old bank vault. So cool! My wife and I were traveling through from a vacation in Charleston and wanted #1 an SPG hotel and #2 sometime downtown, so we could catch fireworks while in town, as it was the evening of the Fourth of July. As a result, we headed immediately to the rooftop bar, which was really a great spot. So great in fact, that everyone else in Columbia who wasn't at the park where fireworks were being launched from decided to show up and watch from atop the roof of the hotel. My wife and I were a little frustrated by this because after all, we actually were hotel guests and couldn't get a table, let alone have space to actually see fireworks. Needless to say, we saw minimal fireworks, which was pretty disappointing. We then rode down one of the three elevators with probably 40 other people, who all proceeded to leave and get in their cars after reaching the street. We knew we were in the minority on that rooftop, as actual guests. We then noticed the amazing martini bar, called 'The Vault' and went down there to socialize with other guests, which was quite enjoyable. The bartender was very personable and funny - high marks for her indeed. We still have not received SPG points credit for our food and beverage purchases in the martini bar however - we hope to see that happen eventually.
Staff were all very kind, but in true Southern fashion, had no sense of urgency. :) As a result, we never received an ice bucket which should have already been in the room, and when we asked for more towels, were brought nothing but math mat towels in the stack provided. We waited so long at one point for a late night request that we just went to bed and called down the next morning.
Overall, we would actually go out of our way to stay here again, when traveling through. The main reason for this is the historic nature of the hotel and the charm of downtown Columbia. It was refreshingly quiet, compared to the big city we are accustomed to. Will definitely stay again, just maybe not on July 4th. :)

I had a decent stay at your hotel. It could have been so much better. If you are going to be staying for more that 2 days a refrigerator would have been nice. Time to change out those lumpy pillows and what ever you do, do not pay cash when you are checking in because your charges will not be right (cash is foreign). I never got mine right but a nice young man by the name of Oliver did what he could to help generate a bill for my agency.

The charm of the old building itself was enough to get my attention. But the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff will keep me coming back. Overall a great stay!

Good experience once again! Rooms are remodeled nicely. Location is central to an assortment of restaurants and nightlife. Very convenient to the Vista and the Columbia Metro Convention Center. When staying in Columbia this is my hotel of choice.

After staying at the Sheraton in Downtown Columbia, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. From check in to check out it was by far one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had.
The room was over priced and the service was sub par. None of the front desk staff was overly friendly or helpful. We requested early check in (the staff taking the reservation never mentioned an additional fee for this) when we arrived they stated there would be a fee. We came back a half hour later to avoid the fee - our room was still not ready. When we were finally able to check in the additional items that were included in our "valentines special" were not in the room. They had to be requested. All of that aside - the ac unit in the room did not cool the room leaving us with a room that was too hot all night long.
This alone wouldn't have been too bad but all through out the night the plumbing in the bathroom was gurgling and the toilet made constant noise all night.
Overall the experience was unsatisfactory and I wouldn't stay at this hotel again nor would I recommend it to anyone.
