To celebrate the end of my children's summer vacation, I reserved a large two bedroom suite at the Sheraton downtown Chicago. It was BEAUTIFUL! The view outside the window wasn't so great BUT the room itself was beyond words. There was so much space that it was as if we had rented an apartment! Everything was perfect..................until I checked out of the hotel and retrieved my vehicle. I spent over $1,800.00 on accommodations only to be charged an additional $100+ dollars for parking my car! I can NOT BELIEVE that The Sheraton management staff would go so far to nickel and dime someone who has spent so much money on a 2 night stay at the hotel. I was all smiles until this happened.

From the time I found out a block of rooms had been reserved at this Sheraton for our nephews wedding, I immediately made reservation for 2 rooms. One for us, the other for our adult children. Little did I know what disappointment lied ahead. We were told our room wasn't ready when we arrived,it was almost 5:00 before we were put in a room we found out later it was not suppose to be occupied, we found out why! Groceries were taken from our room,lamp had to be replace, and the second one quit working. Toilet did not flush properly. all cosmetics and toiletries laid on the floor because there want a vanity. I will stop here!!!!!!

Dad and I alway stay at this hotel when we visit Chicago as part of our Christmas tradition. This review is for the day on Dec 26, 2011.
At the check-in process, at the front desk, there were 5 staff waiting on the regular guests and ony ONE waiting the golds and plats SPG member line. I waited almost 20 minutes before I asked to speak for the front desk manager to speed up the elite SPG member line.
The five staff waiting on the regular guest lines definitely saw us, and none of them made any efforts to either wave us to their line or ask the front desk manager for more wait staff to our line. Treat your most loyal customer well or they will remember and turn to other hotel chains.

This hotel needs updating. Our room was comfortable but old. The paint was peeling and the fixtures were outdated,
One of the reasons we stayed here was because of the heated pool mentioned on the website-this pool is NOT heated. It is merely an indoor pool and this was a HUGE disappointment.

Last year Renee took care of us in the Club Lounge and it was great to see him again this year. We had Herman take care of us for both breakfast and lunch during our stay and he was fantastic. I hope to see both of them again next December when I am back again. Thanks.

Room was nice and the hotel is good and in a great location. Only problem was when I went to check out via the in-room checkout feature, I noted that Sheraton tried to charge me for a bunch of liquor and snacks from the mini bar that we did not use. Maybe housecleaning got liquored up. Then I had to wait about 15 minutes to check out in the lobby and discuss this in person. They corrected the invoice with no issues, but being a preferred guest meant nothing as to saving time. It was a though the counter was understaffed and the ones that were working were just up there taking their sweet time. I thought I was in a Walmart it took so long to check out.

I have been coming to this hotel almost every year for the past 10 years. All in all it is a good hotel for business trips. The rooms are showing their age, could use brighter lights, and a fresh coat of paint. The most annoying part is the $14 charge for the internet. I would be so much happier if they can add this to my hotel charges and be done with it. I hate nickel-and-diming.
