Rated 2 out of 5 by Why make reservations? My company had booked a conference months ago but yet when I arrived, I was informed that the bed I booked wasn't available. Then, they stated they would call me the next day as they were certain MY request would be available the next day. I never got a phone call and when I inquired again about the bed I requested, they told me it was "first come first served". Why the heck are reservations REQUIRED then? To make up for the bed issue, they stated I was put in the newly renovated side of the hotel. Hardly. The room was straight out of the 70s. The bathroom shower faucet leaked so that when you took a shower you had to make sure you didn't leave anything on the counter or it would get soaked. Then the iron didn't work. Overall, AWFUL experience. Overpriced and DEFINITELY under whelmed with their hotel. Would NOT book there again. July 23, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hotel and staff were excellent This was our second visit to this hotel. I had the opportunity to email and chat with the Front office manager and explain about our special family vacation , she went above and beyond as well as the rest of the staff to make our stay a memorable experience. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hotel Hotel is in a great location, lots of places to eat and drink at within minutes. Room was clean and comfortable, was checked in within minutes of arriving. Only downside is drinking wine at the hotel, very expensive but it's expected. I would stay here again. July 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by The people there were so caring and attentive. Best stay I've had. I felt secure, cared for and important. There was not a single person on staff, from the bell hops to the checkout process, that didn't remember my name after meeting only once! I will stay there again on my next trip to Chicago! Rated 1 out of 5 by frequentSGPtraveler The experience we had at the Chicago Sheraton was not good. I will not likely ever go back. July 17, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by This hotel has great locations and friendly personnel Excellent room accommodations, good locations and friendly people. July 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great location but... Great downtown location and room/bed very comfortable. However, as an SPG Gold member my wife and I always enjoyed the 2 20oz bottled water we've always received at other Sheraton's. I thought that the food vending and stocked fridge with overpriced itmes was unnecessary and should be eliminated from the amenities of this luxury room. July 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great SPG desk service! Hi SPG: we stayed at this hotel for a tournament my son attended at Navy Pier. While we arrived early, the gentlemen who checked us in (forgive me for not having his name, but it was approximately 11am on Friday July 12) was extremely helpful in securing a room for us on the Club level, and for informing me when it was ready. Usually a bit of a wait is a pain, but the way this was handled was thoroughly professional, and truly appreciated. July 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Helpful staff Tried to extend my reservation. The hotel was booked up through weekend. Unable to accomplish my goal but very pleased with the front desk attempts to help. July 14, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by New A/C policy is a bad idea Apparently the new thermostats only trigger the A/C when you are in the room - motion sensor. So even when you are there and asleep, the room gets uncomfortably hot. Fortunately, I called and a very helpful engineer switched my room to "VIP mode" (his words). Since when do you have to be a VIP to get simple A/C in your room. This hotel is not that great to begin with. Won't return if I can help it. July 14, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by additional fees I did not feel it appropriate to be charged for mking calls to an 800 number, the hotel does not pay for it. In addition it irks me that these large expensive hotels charge for internet access while lower level hotels do not and they are cheaper. On a bright note, I was not charged to use the gym which many hotels do July 14, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Bate and Switch I had a confirmed reservation with a King bed and after receiving an email offer from the hotel a few days prior to my arrival to upgrade to a Club/Lounge Floor, for $60 I upgraded but instructed the hotel staff to only upgrade my room if I would maintain a King bed. My flight was delayed by weather, and although I had a guaranteed room, when I arrived around midnight, they placed me in a double full size bed room claiming bed preferences are only guaranteed until 6 PM. I was moved to the correct room category the next day....but the damage was done....I hate to hassle with room changes on a short business trip. There is a reason Sheraton is a notch down on the SPG Hotel chain pecking order. I am a loyal SPG Gold member and was surprised to be treated in this manner. The hotel itself is nice and well positioned in town with easy access to all of the attractions. But there are many choices for 4 Star and above hotel properties along the Michigan Avenue corridor and I will choose to stay elsewhere next time. July 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great customer service My past 2 stays at the Sheraton have been especially wonderful. The staff has been super kind and welcoming. The bellhop Nick is always a wonderful smiling face so early in the morning. Albert J. At the concierge especially made my last stay super memorable. He's always a welcoming face to me whenever he sees me. I especially appreciated how he went out of his way to make a bad situation right for me after an unexpected minor incident at a restaurant he had recommended. He truly understands the meaning of great customer service and is a star at his job!!! July 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by This hotel stands out- all in good ways! WE just love the staff at this hotel. They remember people and are truly there to meet the guests' needs. The Shuttle service also has extremely friendly drivers who bend over backwards to take you where you need to go- an amazing amenity! July 12, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great hotel, staff and location We have stayed here many times. We feel recognized, and as always, the hotel meets our needs. We had a new renovated suite which was well-appointed. The Club level made us at home, too. Chicago is a large city, but the staff made us feel at home. July 12, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by We'll Be Back! Great stay! Loved location and staff! Overall, we will return!! July 12, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Disappointed at Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers I purchased a Premium room up from the Traditional room, As a SPG Gold I expected an upgrade. When I asked I was told yes the room is an upgrade. I was truly disappointed when I got up to the room, my "upgrade" gave me a view of the parking lot. I can stay anywhere, particularly since I live in Chicago. The Sheraton Chicago was a short retreat . I wanted to use my SPG network!!! I returned to the desk and asked if this is what my purchased Premium Reservation Upgrade is. This new Reservation desk clerk gave me an excellent room. July 8, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Good Location, Poor Service On arrival asked for the best room available (as Platinum). Was told we had a corner room with a view of the lake and river. Once in the room it was a standard king room. Called guest services and they said they had a better room. So down the hall was a larger room with a view of the construction site next door. If Plat's are due an available upgrade on check-in, why do they not give it to you????? If you are a regular Sheraton patron, beware the lack of service at this hotel in the Sheraton Club. While ours was a weekend stay, the staff did not keep up with the food/beverage service. Long lines, lack of plates and running out of food. NOT my normal Sheraton experience. Breakfast was no better, with the food running out before the published serving times, and no replenishment planned. This is a big city hotel without the normal Starwood service. July 7, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great view from 32nd floor facing river I stayed at your hotel from May 26, 2013 for 3 nights on the Club level in room 3214. Very comfortable room, but the view is what will bring me back to the hotel. Concierge is very good. Convention goers talking loudly and yelling in halls til late into evening the first 2 nights. Great food & drinks in bar. Club lounge was very disappointing, but might have been due to a large convention in hotel. Often the food platters were empty. No water one morning, & was told to go to my room & call guest services for water! Coffee pots empty 2 evenings by 6:45pm & had been taken away when I returned at 7:40. The hostess was trying her best to keep up though. I want to give the hotel another chance, so I have a reservation again for July 30 &31, using points but am told that no Club room upgrade available with points even though there is availability on website for $,. Also told that will likely get a city view which is very disappointing as it will be my adult daughter's first trip to Chicago & I would like her to enjoy the view as I have. July 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lovely hotel! Beautiful, classy hotel with convenient location for many Chicago attractions. July 6, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Why no Internet in rooms? This is a nice hotel but the only free Internet is in the lobby. I now consider internet on the same level as towels--it should be free in the room. Preferably wireless. July 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by First Class Hotel; Excellent Customer Service First visit to Chicago and to the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers; both were amazing. The Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers is a first-class hotel on every level; outstanding customer service provided by the General Manager; great service provided by the front desk; ideal location; nice fitness centre; welcoming lobby; food was very good; pool very nice, and chocolates placed on the pillows nightly was a very nice touch. Rated 5 out of 5 by Hotel is at a great location It was very easy to get around anywhere in the city by walking. July 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great front desk The person who helped me at the front desk was extremely helpful and was able to exceed my expectations July 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hotel is convenient and excellent I will stay there again on my next trip to Chicago. July 3, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Lots of Room Noise This was my first time at this hotel, and not sure that I would return. The location of the hotel is great within walking distance to the Mag Mile, Navy Pier. The rooms must be very poorly insulated as you can hear everything going on in the rooms above or next to you ie... a blow drier, shower, toilet being flushed.... The other thing is the hotel needs to set up a little coffee shop up stairs. If you choose not to use the coffee maker in the room you will have to go down (2) levels just for coffee..... July 2, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Fell below expectations I have stayed at this property at least 4 times. Usually, I would describe the experience as ok (or I would not come back)... this time the experience was sub-par - specific issues: (1) long wait to check in (2) TV in room did not work (3) a/c never got room below 71 degrees - which is too hot for me and hard to sleep (4) no water bottles in club lounge (saving them for AM). Of all #3 was by far the worst. July 2, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by ALA Annual Chicago 2013 Lovely location, staff and facilities. I'm getting used to the Sheraton being a pet friendly hotel. Overall I was very satisfied with my accommodations. July 2, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just off the Miracle Mile is a treasure The Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers is located just north of the river and east of the “Miracle Mile” is this area unto itself. It like being in the heart of the action without the traffic. The hotel has wonderful views, and walkable to any north Michigan Ave. locale, restaurant or shopping. I’ve been coming to Chicago for a long time. I have my favorite hotels and now the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers my newest favorite – for its location. It’s like being in a little island in the middle of the city -- view of the Lake, Navy Pier and the Chicago River with the amenities that your expect from Sheraton. July 2, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good location I had stayed at this hotel several years ago because of the excellent location. The staff was very friendly. However, the room was dusty...literally a layer of dust on the back of the desk, around the base of the television, in the corners on the rug. Definitely not meeting expectations. The furniture in the room (chair) was tired and worn and the bathroom is in definite need of updating. July 2, 2013
