Rated 2 out of 5 by Derek10 Not a 4-star hotel
I'm not quite sure how this hotel is considered a 4-star hotel. I felt like I was staying in a Microtel. For $219/night, my experience should be 10x better than a motel. Room was, somewhat clean. It was definitely the little things that got to me: Mold/dust hanging out of the air vent above the shower; they didn't provide a shower cap or plastic laundry bag; I had to set my thermostat to the lowest possible degree, on HIGH, in-order to get the room "some-what" cool; room service food was extremely high for the poor quality of food--one of my dishes I ordered was cold when it arrived and the chicken smelled "off"; I could hear everything that went on in the halls and in the neighboring rooms--someone next door to me would get up at 5am everyday and their shower would make a loud SCREEEECH sound (it sounded like someone was dying!). It would have been great if I had a quality nights rest without hearing drunk people in the hallway and 30 doors open/slam shut. I will say that the staff was friendly. And I'm sure if I told them all the problems I had, they would have placed me in another room--but since the hotel was packed for the conference, I didn't have much of a choice. Regardless, for the price I paid for this hotel, every room should be good quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Pam27 So much for a romantic weekend getaway!
I won a free 2 night stay at this hotel through my work so my husband and I were thrilled to use it as a "babymoon" getaway before our first child is born. When we checked in Friday night, it was a smooth process however we were told that there was only 1 King bedded room available in the whole hotel and it was a smaller room on a lower floor. Not wanting a double bedded room, we took the King Room. The room size was fine for what we needed but it was a little disappointing to look out out window and see a gravel roof and a building under construction, but oh well. The first night was great! The next morning we had a heck of a time trying to follow the signs to find the Bistro for breakfast but eventually found it. The waitress seemed less than thrilled to be at work that day but the food was good! Overpriced for french toast, but good! The Chicago Burger Company was delicious but again, terrible service! No personality from the servers and very slow just to get a pop! The second night of our stay was horrible! The bachelor party that checked into the room next to us was loud and obnoxious and extremely disruptive! They were drinking, shouting, slamming doors, and wrestling in the room. We could hear every word that was being screamed including a TON of profanity! We called Guest Services and were told they would be sending security up. After 1/2 hour and no signs of security, we called again only to be told that they had walked by and heard nothing that warranted a knock on the door. Which clearly demonstrated that they had not even walked by. You could clearly hear the noise from the hallway. They did eventually come up and just told them to be quiet but the security guard seemed more "buddy buddy" with them than authoritative. They did not quiet down but did eventually leave. They came back at 2am louder and drunker. Security was once again called and once again seemed more buddy buddy with them and just told them to quiet down, which they not. After an hour and a half of listening to them, they finally passed out and my husband and I were able to get back to sleep. 9am Sunday morning rolls around and we are awoken by more chatter and talking, thinking it was just passing people in the hallway, we ignored it for a few minutes but then realized it was coming from the air vents. It was other guests in their rooms talking and we could hear every word clearly! So much for sleeping in and relaxing. A few minutes later, the bachelor party woke up too and were right back to their screaming, wrestling, slamming doors, etc... I guess we were up! Very disappointed that this is how our romantic weekend was ending. As a pregnant woman, I will say that the stand up showers were nice to just be able to walk in, but not having a ledge to place my shampoo, soap, etc, was difficult when constantly needing to bend down to pick my things up off the floor in order to bathe. Lastly, when we checked out, there was no folio left for us, so we had to stand in the long line to check out and were not able to utilize the express check out service. Overall it was a great weekend but I left exhausted and very upset by the room and lack of "customer service" from restaurant staff and security.

Rated 3 out of 5 by mjs4451 Mixed Reviews:
We went to Chicago this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel itself was a nice hotel, and the rooms I found to be very spacious compared to other hotels in Chicago. We loved the view and being on the riverway. I booked two rooms as my sister and her family came with us.
But not all was good. One of our rooms had major air condition problems. When we got in the room the first night the room the room was over 80 degrees and it was on cool. They did come back to fix it promptly but throughout the stay it would work then not work., and go from 74-81 degrees throughout the stay. The other room no matter how cool we put the temperature it never got below 74. We were told there was no other rooms available for the weekend. So there wasn't much good sleeping done even though the beds were comfortable.
Also being a gold member I have been, to many club lounges usually as a courtesy upgrade. But in this case since the reservation person said the hotel was almost full, my chance of being upgraded was pretty small, so he talked me into spending $50 a day to get club lounge floor. I will say the evenings meals really didn't justify the $50 as there really wasn't much of any choices compared to other lounges Ive been to. If you think when they say beverages free, includes wine and beer, well it don't. Breakfast was a bit better but don't expect eggs, meat, waffles, ect. But the fruit and rolls they did have there was good. Save the $50 and eat downstairs at the bistro for breakfast. that was very good.

Rated 2 out of 5 by RB06 Billing issues/miscommunications
When we arrived at the room, the bureau was broken so unable to use the drawers. Called immediately to ensure I was not charged for damage and they were aware the problem existed and would send someone up to correct. Engineers came two days later when we were busy. Told them to come back in an hour, which they agreed to, and they came back two days later as we were checking out.
Being I could not use the drawers, I moved all their snacks off the top of the bureau to give me some room, and I was charged for all items. When I went down to desk to check out, it was supposed to have been corrected.
Bill for checking out...this was a convention booking where first two nights were paid when booked. I therefore was to pay for the last two nights. This confused the registration desk but upon research, she agreed I only needed to pay for two nights and I gave my card and was told the total would be for the two nights. When I checked my bank statement online next day, I have been charged the full four nights across two bills so nobody is quite sure what is correct at this stage. I still have yet to receive the credit for the additional charge THAT I DID NOT AUTHORIZE even after being on the phone for hours to get this corrected and being told "this is standard practice" (placing cards on hold for authorization)

Rated 3 out of 5 by judd1441 Average hotel. Not good or bad.
Spent 4 nights in this average hotel.
Location: Average. Walking distance from Magnificent Mile. Movie theater a block away. Relatively quiet. Lots of homeless in the park across the street.
Housekeeping: The room had long dark hairs on the bathroom floor and on the carpet when I checked in. I can't speak to the daily service because I opted for the 500 SPG points instead of daily service.
Room service: Usually prompt but overpriced. The quality of the food is average at best. No lunch service.
Concierge: I only asked for one referral. I asked for a Chinese restaurant that delivers. The one that was recommended was average and took an hour to deliver. The concierge failed to mention that the restaurant was six miles away. Why not recommend one nearby if it was going to be average anyway?
Room: 3222. Average room with a comfortable bed and decent sized bathroom. The couch was comfortable though had worn fabric. The view was not bad. Channel selection not too bad.
Internet: Terrible, but free, so I got what I paid for. The Wifi was spotty and slow. The LAN was not much better and kept kicking me out of my VPN session every 20 minutes or so. Even though it is free, I still needed to sign in a few times each day.
Club lounge: Average. Breakfast was a decent continental selection. Dinner was under heated finger foods.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Stubler1 Amazing Customer Service
I stayed at this property Saturday, August 24th, 2013 to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday...the details of which were a surprise to her. I noted that it was her birthday when I reserved the room online. When we checked in at 11:35AM Saturday morning, we were greeted by a staff member with a nickname of Torre. She was amazing!! She not only helped us with our early check-in request, but managed to find a fabulous room on the 28th floor overlooking the River and Lake Michigan. Furthermore, realizing this was too be a surprise (party) for my wife, she discretely pulled me aside during check-in to ask if I would like a complementary bottle of Champaign or Wine and a cheese platter sent up to the room. I happily accepted her gracious offer but then realized that receiving at 6PM would be too late given our itinerary. When I requested an earlier time in the afternoon, Torre acknowledged that it might be a challenge for the hotel staff but that should would call me on my cellphone either way to let me know if she could get it worked out. A short while later, while dinning for lunch, my phone rang…it was Torre confirming that the bottle of Wine and Cheese platter were on their way to the room. When we arrived back at the room, we were greeted with a fantastic assortment of cheeses, a bottle of wine, and a Birthday card that was personally signed by the customer service staff. If all this wasn’t amazing enough, when Torre learned that we would be meeting our guests in the Chi Bar that afternoon, she offered to buy my wife and me a drink on her. Simply Amazing.
As a business owner, I have long tried to hire, train, and reward employees who go above and beyond for their customers. Torre exemplifies what it means to deliver Passionate Customer Service and unfortunately, employees like her are not easy to find. She is the reason that we will return in the future to the Sheraton in Chicago. Thanks Torre!
