First off I want to say that this hotel is in an excellent location. As for both of my experiences there in the last month... that's about it.
First off the line up to check in was the WORST that I have ever seen. It took 25 minutes to work through, however I could see past that. Secondly, I had forgotten my toothbrush and had requested one from the front desk. 30 minutes after I requested it and it hadn't arrived, I called down to see if it was on it's way, and was obviously forgotten about. I was not offered an apology for the delay, just that it should be there "any time now". At the same time I mentioned that our room did not have any hot water, at which I was met with "You and anything below the 25th floor". At no point was I offered an apology for the inconvenience or a possible timeframe that the issue would be corrected, just that "we're working on it".
As a fairly relaxed guest in most cases, I could easily ignore all of these situations if someone had made me feel that they cared about the inconveniences.
As an individual that tries to be loyal to the Starwood brand, I did feel that this experience was quite disappointing and not at all what I am used to when staying at other Starwood properties.

I had a room with a view on the 42nd floor, but I couldn't see much because the windows were so dirty. I needed to do some work, but couldn't plug my computer in at the same time I was charging my phone becuase the lamp was plugged into the outlet on the top of the desk and since it was night I couldn't see if I unplugged it to charge the phone. The bathrooms are barely big enough to fit the sink, bathtub and John into and don't even think about any counter space to put your toothbrush on. I stayed two times, once on the 42nd floor and once on the 37th in different locations from the the elevator. In both rooms I heard somekind of machine sound, like electric motors running, on and off. I don't know if it was the elevators, or not, but it was disturbing. Along with that noise, the vent in the bathroom was constantly sucking air, which sounded like wind blowing through a partially cracked open window: it never stopped. I tried to call the desk a number of times to ask some questions. The phone rang and rang with no answer. The walls were all scuffed up in both rooms, and the wall paper was peeling on the corners. The chairs at the desks had stains on them and the fixtures on the one sink hit the backsplash every time you turned the water off. The stopper in the tub in the one room wouldn't work and so I had to keep pulling it up so the tub wouldn't fill while I was showering. The ironing boards had covers on them that were stained and folded, so you couldn't iron your clothing smooth. The door lock on the one room kept fliping over on it's own making it a task to just close the door when I wanted to leave the room. On the plus side, the water pressure is good and Club Lounge has a nice view and a pretty good breakfast, but don't try to take a plate to your room with you.

Stayed here 7/21 in an upgraded club level king room on the 36th floor.
The good - Room was clean, sufficiently spacious, nice views from the room, club level facilities were a nice touch for evening snacks and breakfast although too cold for most people as they had the a/c cranked up.
The bad - Check-in process long winded with big line-ups and insufficent staffing, initial room allocation was right beside the ice machine which was terribly noisy, moved to another room with adjoining doors and found the walls to be paper thin as we could hear every word our neighbours were saying and followed up by having to endure some sounds of passion through the walls. So-called "upgraded bathrooms and toiletries" leave a little to be desired, you could get the same stuff or better in a 3 star hotel, pool was extremely busy (expected on a hot day) but also cloudy and obviously not designed to deal with this many bodies at once, pool bar was closed on likely one of their busiest days of the year so had no atmosphere and they weren't making any money.
In general I would say we were satisfied but I wanted to see something that said "come back". Would have to say we could have been at any 3 or4 star hotel in Toronto as nothing leaped out at you with minimal wow factor. Has promise but still pumping out mediocrity.

This is the second time that parking my truck has been an issue at your Hotel and it’s the same tall individual "I'm 1.92 M tall and your truck will fit in the underground parking" guy.
I realize he has a tough job to do, but he has got to find some better tact in telling me he is sorry but he cannot accommodate my truck right now, if you want to find a surface lot (one close I hope, perhaps you have a suggestion) and we'll LYK when we can get you in... Would be a great start!
Telling me that stop worrying the truck will fit in the parking garage is not the right story. By the way I parked on a surface lot and every time I walked by the Parking lot there was room for at least my truck. So parking on Wednesday March 6th was a doubled. Since I came back about 2PM and was able to leave my truck without an issue. For someone who is staying at your Hotel for 3 months I am not asking for preferential treatment, just some common sense and tact in telling me sorry I can’t help you right now.
Otherwise I love staying at your Hotel; your other members of your team make me feel like I am welcome and in my own home.
The members of the team working up in the lounge are fantastic; they anticipate my needs and are extremely helpful!

Without a doubt the hotel is perfectly located for shopping, restaurants, and within easy reach of the Canada Centre, CN tower and the ferry to the island. There was a reasonably priced public car park across the road which we used for our 5 night stay. The pool and sun deck was really lovely and great for our 6yr old. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. So all positive. However, we arrived on a festival weekend and the hotel was packed. This led to lengthy queues at the check in desk and a considerable amount of noise thru the night from guests on our floor (parties, knocking on our door at 5am). I appreciate it is difficult for the hotel to monitor other guests and the hotel staff were receptive to the problem and sent security to check it out. That aside, the other dissappointing features were that the free wifi was restricted to the lobby and not in the restaurant/bar area which we might have frequented more often. I recommend securing a room on the Queen tower as we were in the other tower on the 10th floor and there is a private club on the 11th floor so we were woken by thumping (exercise class maybe ?) one morning. Overall a pleasant stay and I would consider staying again knowing the inside track.
