Rated 5 out of 5 by ElCid New Room Hotel and Room Renovations Go A Long WaY
I have stayed various times at this hotel for the past 2 years and it is really picking up in both cleanliness and prestige.
The hotel itself has been sort of a "landmark" in the city, so its not particularly new, but they have begun an overall renovation of each room, floor and lobby that feels very "SPGsy" and fresh.

I am still shocked at how this property qualifies to be in the SPG family. It is very old but it is undergoing renovations, I respect that. The rooms are recently re-done but they lack sufficient light to do work or get dressed. The Internet is too slow to work with. The Staff is absolutely clueless regardless what language you speak to them in. There were a couple of good guys but the manager and key staff members behaved appallingly towards us. One in our party was given one of the old rooms, she almost flew out of the city because of it. The food, both at the restaurant and room service, no matter how long I spent telling them in English and Spanish that I am lactose intolerant and that it means no dairy, cheese, cream, or anything of the sort, they still brought out every dish with even extra cheese. One night I came back exhausted and saw that my room had not been done by housekeeping, having left the morning's omelette there to stink up the entire room. I called about it, told the front desk attendant, telling them I'm giving them 20 mins to deal with it as best they can... 45 mins later the manager comes to me at the hotel bar and says that nothing has been done "because they didn't have my authorization"... SINCE WHEN DOES HOUSEKEEPING NEED AUTHORIZATION... especially after I had requested it on the phone and again in person. It was the worst experience i've ever experienced in a hotel and am so shocked that it qualifies as SPG. The area around the hotel is ghastly and unsafe.

No recognition of Gold Status. Given very low floor room, not even the room I requested. 2 doubles not a king. Hair in bathtub. Condom wrapper beside bed. Hotel is worn out. Room looks like it needed updating many years ago. Staff tried to be helpful but obviously their hands are tied as to what they can do. Absolutely do NOT recommend this hotel.

I've been staying at this hotel for years. They just got new management and new management is definitely not SPG class. He did not honor any past rates, cancelled my booking and didn't give to cents about what I thought of that. The new manager is not professional at all. I will never stay there again nor will I recommend anyone stay there either.

The staff is wonderful. They go out of their way to make sure you are happy. I even got a birthday dessert sent to my room. Very thoughtful.

After staying at this hotel for quite some time, last week they gave me a room in what I presume to be the oldest and most outdated wing of the hotel. Carpet was nasty, bathroom was tiny and the paint and furniture was way wore.

on assignment in Mexico for 8 to 12 months.
My ho e away from home. Hotels needs some help from what I expect as a platinum member but the staff are great!
