Rated 4 out of 5 by Renovated hotel with warm staff I have been patronizing this Sheraton since 2008 and have always made it a point to stay here whenever I visit Tokyo. It is a gem of a hotel, tucked away in the quiet suburb of Shirokane. Well-connected, with complimentary hotel shuttle service to Meguro (JR Yamanote circle line) and Shirokanedai stations (Mita and Namboku subway lines). The hotel is also along the routes of the airport limo bus services from Narita and Haneda airports. While initially, the rooms were dated and there was no Club Lounge except for the Bamboo Lounge, the hotel has since undergone a refurbishment. There is a new Club Lounge located on the 2nd floor for SPG Platinum Guests to unwind since last year. The atmosphere is relaxing with subtle Japanese elements in an earthy tone. The garden is beautifully maintained so be sure to take a walk in it! Try to spot the hotel ducks as they waddle along the garden paths. The rest of the hotel facilities are adequate...there are a choice of restaurants, as well as a gym, swimming pool and a wet spa area. The rooms have also been renovated with different decor according to the floor: premium, floor 7, comfort and comfort Miyabi. SPG Platinum recognition is good and I was upgrade to their Executive Suite on most occasions. The suite is good-sized, with 2 WCs. The living and sleeping areas are NOT separate however. I also found the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed to be too soft for my liking. My main complaint now is that the SPG Platinum guests can only have their breakfast at the Club Lounge...previously, we could also have it at Shisen. In summary, I would recommend this hotel as it has all the necessary facilities at a good price point. The staff are also warm and friendly and really make you feel welcome! Not all of them can speak English well however. October 16, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Average Sheraton but with very little SPG Recognition It's a very average Sheraton Hotel. The location is not bad but not special either. The shuttle buses were helpful in this regard. The room, amenities, gym are just average. Most of the were staffs being polite except for one young concierge girl that acted as if lack in proper job training and even was very rude ! And I must say that decent english speaking staffs are somehow very rare in your hotel. Just one foreign concierge woman staff which speaks good english. The biggest let down however is the lack of recognition as SPG Member. Upon check-in, no upgrade to suite. Hotel was full. Fine. I did not want to argue upon something I could not verify. Upon entering the room, no greeting cards and no welcome fruits/cake/snacks. It was not that we demanded, just that I almost always receive those things at another Starwood hotels as a recognition of our status. On our next Starwood hotels in Suiran Kyoto and St.Regis Osaka, we did get greeting cards and welcome fruits/snacks. Another let down in SPG recognition was when we dined in Yamatoya Sangen, we were informed that SPG member gets no discount. Again, I did not want to argue. Fine I said to myself. We were informed later that we did entitle to get points for dining. But yet until today I am not sure that the points were awarded. Because in my SPG points statement, I did not see any points for dining at Yamatoya Sangen. I just wander, how much longer does Sheraton Tokyo could get away with such a poor treatment to SPG member before its already low score (3.6 and one of the lowest among Starwood Hotels) will get even lower. Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Value - Does not Deserve all those bad Ratings on Here This was my 2nd stay here, and I am writing another review because of their fabulous new Club Lounge! But first of all, I feel many reviewers on here are highly unfair: This is an older hotel, but it is well kept. All those Platinum members who are complaining about missing room upgrades need to realize that this facility only has a very limited number of suites. And we are talking about a very busy and big city here. So these suites seem to go to guests actually paying for them. However, the staff has always upgraded me to a bigger size Deluxe Room. In general, while not huge the room sizes here are pretty decent. Again, we are in cramped pricey Tokyo here, not in Dallas or Bangkok. But here's the good news: They just opened a very comfortable Club Lounge on the 2nd floor. The breakfast they serve there is excellent. Tea is being served all afternoon, and cocktails all evening (hard liquor stops at 8pm). Their food and beverage offering is so generous that I would actually recommend non-Platinum members consider booking a room with Lounge access. And for you Platinum members: Take advantage of your free Club access and make this Club your living room. It will help you get over your suite trauma... Some of the other points: The hotel is in a residential area. Not much is in the immediate vincinity except for Happo-En, which is around the block. It is a private Japanese garden-style park that is used for weddings. They let you in if they are not too busy with wedding guests, and if you ask politely. It is pretty big and provides for some impressive views of Japanese landscapes in the middle of the city. They also have a bonsai collection with some of the exhibits being over 1000 years old. The Subway station is an easy 5 mins walk away and takes you quickly anywhere in the city. It is 5 stops to Ginza, and a quick transfer to anywhere else. The Subway system is clean and efficient and easy to use. Just make sure to buy a Pasmo card at any ticket machine (5$) and pre-load it with a few bucks. It lets you go anywhere you want by simply swiping the thing at entry and exit. The hotel also offers complementary shuttle transfers to Meguro station 1 mile down the road. From there you take again a Subway, or u board a commuter train. The most important communter train line stops there which takes u to Shibuya in 6 mins, Shinjuku in 12 mins. Other than that, the staff has always been extremely helpful, the hotel lobby is very elegant and festive. I recommend it for drinks and snacks. I have never had any issues connecting to their fast internet. The rooms are clean and of decent size for this big city. The bathrooms are clean but more functional than stylish. Conveniently, one of the Narita Airport shuttle busses stops right at this hotel. In short: I find this to be a very pleasant hotel option in Tokyo with an excellent value. September 6, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by The bed is small The room is small, the beds in the room are single beds! Overall, room is clean and the condition is acceptable!! August 17, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not as advertised The gym and pool facilities at this location are an additional cost (~$30/day). Also the location is not great. While it is relatively close to two subway stations, there is not much else in the vicinity. Even the ubiquitous Lawson's or 7/11's are not close. You are really confined to the hotel here, though you are in the city. August 8, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Avoid This place has a nice lobby, All the rest, room, location, staff, are not very good expecially considering japanese standards June 12, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not a stay I will remmeber Overall, it is a decent hotel which looks well maintained. The room is good (stayed on the second floor) and I like the club lounge. I would stay here again if I am in the area. Here is what I didn't like: 1. Front staff: Didn't speak English that well and came across as unfriendly. 2. SPG benefits: No discount on hotel food and beverages as in other places. Did also not feel that there are any benefits if you are a SPG member while staying here. 3. Cafe California: Was very annoyed that the opening times stated on the website (closes 11 pm) do not reflect actual operating times (10 pm). Room Services: Very limited selection. They let you order from only two set menus. May 26, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Comfortable Stay Stayed 2 nights with a tour & an additional 6 SPG nights. Room with 2 queen beds was comfortable & clean. Staff was friendly & concierge service was helpful with handouts for public transportation connections & walking directions to local laundromat. Complimentary shuttle to Shinagawa station in the morning until 10 am & then to Meguro station until 10 pm was very punctual & convenient. Convenient & grocery stores within walking distance of hotel. No problems with internet connectivity. Airport limousine bus picks up at hotel to Haneda (45 minutes). May 17, 2016
