Rated 3 out of 5 by Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles The room I stayed in was adequate. My main beef is with the bathroom. The sink handles were broken. The shower did not drain properly. The bathroom needs to be overhauled. The rest of the room was great. October 2, 2012

Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent Service, Lounge not so good. I love the Gateway at LAX for it's location, comfortable beds, and most of all, it's staff, which is excellent. Orracio in the Paparazzi is just the best. He remembers his clients, and it's why we keep going back! The food served there is very good, and they even have a cheese plate now, which is a great addition. A good GM named Roman, who also remembers everyone. It does not feel like an LAX hotel, they do such a great job. Greg out at the bar mixes a good cocktail. He's efficient and one does not have to sit around waiting. A definate plus. The Club Lounge. Hmmmm, now this lounge was known to be one of the best in the US. What on earth happened? It was also one of the reasons I, and many other colleagues would choose the Gateway over another hotel. There's barely any food there, and at 6.30pm the other night, it was all gone and they did not bring anymore. Really? But they did up the price of that cheap wine one can buy up there. The lounge is one of the Plat benefits, and this has become a sad lounge. What a shame. They also have a very nice pool area and a nice roomy gym. September 29, 2012

Rated 4 out of 5 by Airport convenience This is a very nice airport hotel. However, the bathrooms are dated, and the shower heads are awful. I will definitely stay here again but please replace the shower heads if you do nothing else. March 28, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by Loss of Amenities I am currently a lifetime Gold member and come to the LAX area often, for meetings at Los Angeles Air Force Base (I am retired Air Force). In the past, I have enjoyed the club lounge for a quick snack in the morning, which was available when I first became a gold member. Then you changed policies and only let Platinum members go into the club lounge. I eventually become Platinum, but due to recent travel reductions with my company, I lost that level last year. Up until my most recent stay (Jan '13), you provided to me as part of my Government reservation, a complementary b-fast buffet each morning, which I enjoyed. I only ate granola cereal, but it was nice taking my time eating and reading the paper. This past stay, I was told that you no longer provide a free buffet with the Gov't rate. Yes, your hotel is nice, but the amenities that I just discussed is what has brought me back, time after time. I hate to say this, but I'm rethinking my loyalty as you no longer offer what I enjoy. I will be researching different hotel chains to see if they meet my needs, which are very simple, yet very important to me. January 20, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by Hotel Met Expectations Checked in for a three-night stay & the front desk personnel were very courteous & professional. The facilities was very inviting especially the pool area. The room was great & we were able to control the temperature which is important. Throughout our stay 1) the card key did not work which is an inconvenience because I keep on asking the front desk to replace my card key & the issue was never resolved the whole time we we there although we were given some SPG points back; 2) the ice machine on our floor or the floor below us did not work for two days; 3) parking is offsite and could be an inconvenience for guests who do not wish to valet park. When I registered into the hotel there was no parking available & the shuttle bust drivers were very rude to my wife who waited in the standing car while I checked-in. Also if the parking lot charges $11 for 24 hours Sheraton charges $17/day, if the hotel doesn't own the lot would have been nice to get a discount. Also the bar munchies were stale, I could have spent more money. Overall our stay could have been better if the issues I brought up were addressed, I doubt I will stay here again. July 15, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by Staycation not great I researched great pools and restaurants at hotels near LAX. Paparazzi at the Sheraton came up so I called to reserve a table for two to surprise my husband. 7 pm on Sunday was confirmed by hotel employee Jose. I then booked our room for our 24 hour getaway. We arrive to be "greeted" by a very rude valet who would not let us unload the car and check in. We had to park right away and shlep our bags quite a ways. (No free parking for hotel guests. $33 + per day for valet. OUCH!) We check in. Room was average. No fridge. Then find out Paparazzi is closed on Sundays. When I called the front desk to ask how this could be, the hotel employee offered NO sympathy. Then a manager listened but offered no help. We went to the hotel bar for our "fine dining" experience. The staff was very inattentive. I ordered an entree salad with no tomatoes and it came overflowing with tomatoes. When I picked them off, there was barely any salad left. It was disgusting. The next morning, we got ignored by several waiters as we tried to order breakfast. I asked for a drink menu. The waitress barely spoke English, did not know what a champagne split was. Long story short, the staff was rude and didn't seem to care about making our experience extraordinary in the least. We won't return. September 25, 2013
