My family has been coming to Stamford for the past 7 years. This was our first time staying at the Stamford Sheraton Downtown, but won't be our last. Rooms far exceeded our expectations. I would like to give a special thank you to Manager Dennis Nemcheck who went out of his way to make sure our family needs were met. Also a special thank you to the young lady who checked me in at the front desk, who was more than helpful and always had a smile on her face when I encountered her is one of the main reason why we would return next year.

While other hotel chains advertising that they will lend you a phone charger if you forget yours the Stamford Sheraton won't even look in lost and found to let you borrow one. They instead point you to the lobby "Link" station. I am a SPG Plat and lifetime Gold memeber and I have borrowed chargers in the past year from at least 4 SPG properties. I work all day and the last thing I want to do is sit in the lobby and watch my phone charge. Plus the rooms are very old and small and the lounge is so packed that the breakfast items are always empty. The lady that works there is great but way overworked.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LCG09 A good time
We enjoyed the room, the ambiance, the pleasant staff, and breakfast in the dining room. There are also several excellent restaurants within walking distance.
1) The cable choices are very limited. How about a couple old movie channels? Or at least some listenable (classical) music?
2) Some reading lamps would be nice.

Very nice atmosphere, was really impressed with the beds.
The staff was a little loud shouting back and fourth in the hallways but other than that everything was GREAT!

I totally disagree that staffs of this hotel are kind. When coming down to the reception desk due to the malfuntion of my room card in the very early morning, she required my info in a commanding tone without any apology. I felt like that she was treating me as not a Platinum guest, but just a suspicious person to be interrogated.
Plus, when you ask for a wine screw on the phone, you will hear that you should come down to the lobby lounge bar and borrow it on your own.
Don't expect any better service to a Platinum member.

Excellent location, but difficult to access.
Accommodations are excellent, but
welcoming and service seem rather cold for the average traveler.

I was recently in CT on business and decided to drive a few miles further to stay at a Starwood property. Although I tend to favor a different Starwood brand, the Sheraton is usually my next go to choice.
The Sheraton Stamford was a huge disappointment. The rooms were dated and with the puke green colored desk tops, art, walls, it felt like my grandma's house - except she's already renovated 15 years ago.
This property needs to be updated. The rooms were tired, the air conditioning was extrmely loud, the vent in the bathroom was nearly clogged with dust and general filth, the carpets were stained with black marks, and the lobby had a mildew smell. Overall, it wasn't up to par with any other Starwood property I've ever stayed at. There was also no concierge, and if you were planning on relaxing in the lobby bar with a glass of wine - forget it! Smack dead in the center of the lobby was some sort of sales presentation event, complete with loudspeakers. Oh, and if you are elderly, good luck getting into the bed, the beds are about 3 feet off the ground. It's really strange, especially since the ceiling height is already low.
On a positive note, the hotel is in a great area within walking distance to downtown Stamford and also has easy access to 95.
Lastly, I reserved a king room. When I arrived I was told the room was reserved as two double beds and no king rooms were available. I said, that they were mistaken. She insisted I was mistaken and again I was told NO king rooms were available, gold member or not. Once I pulled out my confirmation email showing the king room confirmation, voila, I had my choice of three available king rooms.
