Rated 5 out of 5 by It's a brand new and well designed hotel but it was the staff that made the difference I am a very high frequency travaler, and I have to say that this Sheraton in Melbourne is the best Sheraton and one of the best business hotels I've had the pleasure to visit. Yes, it's new but the real difference was the staff. Every interaction was polite, friendly and felt genuine. From the door staff, to the front desk staff, to the wait staff, room service...beginning to end...the staff was great. At our first breakfast my wife ordered hot water with lemon and the next day the same waiter recognised my wife and as we were being seated he asked if she'd like the same. A lady who delivered our room service noticed my wife was not feeling well and when she saw her the next day she asked my my wife how she was doing. The door staff were extremely helpful with recommendations and a couple remembered us by name. This is the first time I've decided to take time write a review for a hotel. This one deserves it. Sincerely, this is a business hotel that feels like a boutique hotel with a personal feeling and service of a bed & breakfast. Rated 2 out of 5 by Good building but staff lacking We stayed during the Melbourne cup (5th-7th) and while the location and room were excellent, the staff fell short at every opportunity. The concierge had no recommendations for dining on any night nor any lunch recommendations (i asked for tapas, he recommended the Chinese in the hotel, and didn't mention the tapas place right next door?); Room service was a travesty, only got one of the meals taken off the bills but none of the orders were correct or even matched the menu; IT support staff failed to call back 2 times, left with TV half working for most of stay and no functioning wifi; at checkout, I had to explain to the bell staff that they could hold onto our bag while we went shopping, was told that they could only hold while we checked out. As i said, a real let down by all members of the staff. November 9, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Another great experience Well I stayed here again after a wonderful first visit and was certainly not disappointed at my choice. If anything a few minor bugs had been ironed out as this is a fairly new hotel. Again all staff that I had contact with were excellent. My Plaitinum level was recognised with an upgrade to a suite. Special mention should be made to the "egg lady" in the cafe on Level 1. I asked for a special omelette to be made with ingredients that were not part of he normal offer. My request was not only granted but done so with a minimum of fuss. Nothing was too much trouble. I think I have found my new "Melbourne hotel" Thank you and keep up the great work !! July 15, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sheraton is now back in Melbourne Upon arrival I noticed a distinct difference between the service of this SPG property and another in the area. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. This might be attributed to the “new hotel” syndrome or with luck the hotel will keep this very pleasant aspect of the hotel. I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to the Federation Terrace Suite and for that I thank the hotel. The room was well appointed but missed on a few little details. I had to do a double take when I noticed that the suite did not have a double vanity unit and made for a messy morning when getting ready with the wife commandeering the sink. I also noticed there was no writing paper or jotter pad when needed and I think housekeeping were under the impression that only one person was staying in the room. They even removed our second key??? I also noticed a rather loud whistling sound when there were strong winds whipping around the balcony. Luckily it died down before heading to bed. Finally, I am not sure I like the glass between the bathroom and bedroom especially when one wants to sleep in. Even with the privacy blind down the bathroom still emits a fair bit of light. Having said all that the rooms were obviously new and serviceable. The TV in the bedroom seemed disproportionately large but some might like that very close feeling from a huge screen. The restaurant in the hotel was very nice. The food was very good and a special mention must go to the desserts pastry chef. Having said that I must take off points for the price of some items on the menu. I had one very small slice of toast with chopped tomato on it (Bruschetta) and it was $12 plus tax. The kitchen might want to either look at lowering their prices or provide at least double that for the current price. For breakfast the variety and quality was excellent. Again better than the other local SPG property in Melbourne. In fact, it wipes the floor with Allegro’s equivalent breakfast offerings. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay, staff were excellent which make the stay more enjoyable and the room was nice. Well done everyone you now make this the preferred SPG hotel to stay at when in the city. By the way, I should mention self parking across the street is easy but tight. The concierge will validate your parking and it is only $20-$30 over night or even less on weekends. The outdoor bar on Level 3 might be nice during summer but it is definitely not inviting in chilly conditions. This hotel does make me think though that several years ago Sheraton sold the best hotel in the best location the city, currently called the Langham Hotel. Surely the powers that be in Australia must be kicking themselves over that mistake. I pine for the return of that type of Sheraton to Melbourne. May 10, 2014

For me it is "the unexpected little touches" that I appreciate - a heated indoor pool and a hot clean steam room, an in room power adapter, red & white wine/cocktail glasses, curtains that overlap for a true black out effect. Room lighting (incl hall night light) on a switch beside bed, magnifying mirror and good lighting, quality bath fixtures (2 different shower heads) was like the beds, heavenly! October 27, 2014

Polite and attentive staff, a great bed and shower, and an excellent breakfast buffet. The view from the room is however non existent unless you call a dirty, dusty window from the adjacent building a view. November 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Rooms were a bit on the small side The room I booked was a corner room and I found it was a bit small compared to other hotels similar rooms at a similar price, it was however in exceptional condition as hotel is only newly opened. The bathroom was big and very modern with glass wall between bed and bath which you could close with an automatic blind, there was a lack of seating in room also, a couch would have been better than a an armchair if room was configured differently. I would still go back but would book a standard room next time as I don't think the plus rooms were value for money. Breakfast was included and this was really good. July 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by PERFECT Only stayed one night. Hotel is new so everything was perfect. The staff were great, but one staff member absolutely stood out. Special mention to Michael in the breakfast area, he was outstanding and an absolute credit to the hotel. The restaurant was so busy and he was on top of everything with a smile - a true professional. The hotel is in a great location. The pool area is small, but lovely, although whirlpool could have been warmer. Breakfast was fantastic, loved the presentation of the buffet and the quality of the food. I could not fault anything about our stay. Would definitely stay again. July 21, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointing room for Platinum member. Nice new hotel. However on check in for a two night stay - I was informed that as a Platinum guest I had been upgraded, but the room to which I was upgraded was on the 6th floor directly opposite the lift and directly facing the wall of a building face only meters away, the effect of which was a small feeling, claustrophobic room, the blinds in which remained down for the duration of the stay. Walking back to the hotel later it was apparent that every other side of the hotel had a nice open aspect - many rooms appeared to have balconies. So overall, it was disappointing because of the room (and repeated issues with the room keys not working) notwithstanding that the hotel was new and the staff were helpful. August 29, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Near Chinatown Stayed 1 night at the hotel, it is fairly new and the rooms and beds are very comfortable. Very near to Chinatown and lots of eateries and shops nearby. Very convenient. Will definitely stay again if we are back at Melbourne. No free wifi in room October 25, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Sheraton Melbourne The "tiny" sheraton, built on a land smaller than my home. Only entrance into an obscure little street. Non existent lobby. Minimalistic in all regards. Sheraton should get rid of this hotel site and built a new one. Meanwhile should be marketed as a three star. May 8, 2014

On arrival to the Sheraton Melbourne, we were given an instant room upgrade, which made our welcome very special. Then, during our stay, our every request was promptly granted and always with a smile. Congratulations and thank you to the wonderful management & staff here at the Sheraton Melbourne. Rated 5 out of 5 by Friendly and Welcoming Staff From the moment I stepped in to the Sheraton the staff were very warm and friendly towards me. Extremely help full and answered all my questions with easy. The room was Wonderful, I was upgraded to a higher floor level and room, which I was very happy with. The Spa treatment was wonderful with fantastic staff, who did a wonderful massage. The pool facility is also wonderful very clean with plenty of towels. The breakfast and dining experience was also a delight. I had a very enjoyable stay and will be back soon. July 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This hotel is a gem! My friend and I stayed at the Sheraton as a girlie getaway of 33 years of friendship. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here away from the hustle and bustle of the inner city. As the hotel is new everything was lovely. Drinks in the courtyard by the fire were relaxing as was our sauna. You really need to make use of the facilities. Looking forward to returning to the Sheraton. September 21, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great new hotel in convenient location We had the pleasure of staying in the new Sheraton Melbourne for one night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. They upgraded us to a better room on a higher floor and were presented with chocolates and macrons to celebrate. Needless to say we felt very welcomed and special. The hotel was exceptional, facilities and staff. We chose this hotel due to it's proximity to the city centre and in particular to Her Majesty's Theatre, to watch Les Mis. Thank you for accommodating us. We will definitely be back! July 14, 2014

The reception, restaurant and concierge staff were fabulous and really 'made' our stay. Travelling with a teenager can be challenging but we both had a really good stay - thank you September 24, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Hotel. Great Staff. We spent three nights here and can highly recommend this hotel. Staff were excellent and could not have been more helpful. Great local bar and restaurant recommendations. My Platinum membership was recognised with an upgrade to a suite which was an excellent surprise. Had room service one time. Food was very good and arrived promptly and hot. Excellent location for the many local bars and restaurants in the local lane ways. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Melbourne.
