Rated 3 out of 5 by Romeo Wonderful location, but needs a facelift.
The Sheraton Port Douglas would have been a wonderful hotel when it was first built. Its location as absolute beachfront on Four Mile Beach at Port Douglas is second to none. The staff were equally wonderful, in particular Matt and Andrew on the front desk, and Sulie in Il Pescatore Restaurant were exceptional in their customer service skills. HOwever the resort is tired and past its prime. The rooms were so aged, with many things not working properly (such as the shutters which we had to close with a hair elastic!) and everything badly in need of painting or replacing. The public areas are in much better condition thank goodness, and worthy of the ownership of Sheraton. The rooms, alas, not so. Surrounded by so many new resorts, we fear for the future of this hotel.

Great pools. Great location. Easy to get to town and great service for off ground trips. Rooms are outdated.

We loved the fabulous pools!! The buffet breakfast was excellent, but unfortunately the other meals were not. Buffet dinner was below average & we decided not to go again. All meals very overpriced & there was a $10 room service charge! Be aware of charges for things that are free at other resorts for children: town shuttle, Aqua Play ($15 day), kids club ($50 per half day!!). We ate at Port Douglas to improve the quality of our meals & reduce costs

I would like to take this time in thanking all the staff at the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas especially Kristina in reservations. Kristina arranged our accommodation and transfers for us. I did send her a few emails and she was always very pleasant and helpful.
We booked 3 rooms from 11th April until 18th April 2013.
Wow wow what can I say about your resort. It is amazing. Even though it is a bit out dated it is very clean and the rooms are very spacious and comfortable.
The reception lounge area is enormous and very comfortable.
We only stayed 4 nights but we wished we could have stayed longer.
The gardens and pools are fantastic. The best we have stayed at.
We had buffet breakfast each morning and what a great selection of food to choose from. Amazing breakfast.
We also had a buffet dinner one night and you could not fault the selection of food that was served.
My daughter was celebrating her 40th birthday with the family and had booked the restaurant for the family dinner on the night of her birthday (Sunday 14th April) but her husband was told whilst we were there that the restaurant was closed on the Sunday night.
As this had been booked and she had arranged for your chef to make her birthday cake they opened the restaurant just for us.
We had a beautiful meal outside on the terrace and our waitress (sorry I did not get her name) was delightful.
We got a fantastic price for our accommodation which included breakfast but I know that the prices will go up dramatically when you have done the refurbishments. I am hoping that we can have another holiday there and stay longer this time before the prices do go up.
Thank you all again for a wonderful 4 day break. I will certainly be recommending your resort.

My wife and I were looking for a Resort in Port Douglas where we could spend our Honeymoon and we thought we would try the Sheraton Mirage. When we arrived at the Lobby a lovely Gentleman served us and explained all the different rooms we could choose from. We chose a room that we could afford and in conversation the gentleman serving us found out the occasion was our Honeymoon so he kindly upgraded our room to a Honeymoon suite for the same price.The room, service, facilities and food was first class.The whole experience made our honeymoon the best ever. My wife and I will be coming back in the next few months but this time we intend on staying for five nights.We are telling everybody wow thank you.

Despite the beauty of the grounds and luxury of the lagoons and the brilliant breaky buffet, a few things did let down the hotel. Cold reception staff member, porters driving past us as we struggle with our bags. Dessert arriving before entree in Pescatore restaurant. Drinks taking 30 mins to arrive at dinner buffett. Always being charged for the kids despite the SPG purple wrist bands they wore the whole time. Female pool bar staff member swearing for all to hear, cup of beer sitting by the lagoon for 3 days covered in ants. Upgrade the staff and we'd come back.
