Rated 3 out of 5 by Staff Can't help you Made a reservation for a group, adults weekend. I made mine late because of other reasons. The rest got a great rate through a well known online company. I made it through Sheraton. Over the phone. I told them about my friends rates and they said, can't help you. Talked to the people at the hotel, sorry, can't help you. So I paid almost twice they did but they wouldn't help or try to compensate in some way. Well at least your getting your reward points was all they said. To top it off, they stayed rooms on a higher floor with better views of the city. Make sure you get it in writing or they will not help you. July 17, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Unnecessary charges made on credit card This is in regard to unnecessary charges made on my credit card. I checked into Sheraton Kansas city hotel at crown center on 8th March and checked out on 9th March,2014. As per the folio given to me by reception guys, total amount deducted from credit card was 194.56USD. But my credit card actual statement shows me that 583.68usd is deducted from credit card by sheraton kansas hotel. I tried reaching the hotel but I was directed to some unresponsive number. I mailed my concern to crown@sheraton, but even after 2 weeks there is no reply on the same. Please clarify the mismatch. Thanks and Regards// Ramesh March 23, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Overcharged and no response I stayed at this hotel as part of a large group. The room was comfortable and well taken care of. One con of this hotel is the very long wait time for elevators. Upon checkout I was issued a foilo that was correct. Once I left the property a new folio was issued that showed $96 in parking charges. I did not have a car, and ironically was not charged a parking fee for each day I was there. Calling 'accounting' sends you to a voicemail that is never replied to if listened to at all and emails go into a similar black hole. I am an SPG member and am reconsidering staying at other sheraton properties if this is the bad customer service that happens after erroneous charges are tacked onto a bill. June 18, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not a bit of sleep I was very disappointed in this hotel. My room was too warm and muggy. I requested a fan--they had none. The maintenance folks came up but there was nothing they could do to improve the temperature. It was a miserable three nights. I was shocked at the attitude of the restaurant staff on the mezzanine. The first day at lunch, the hostess told us, "You need to know that there is at least a 35 minute wait for the kitchen." We heard the same thing on the second day…but we tried it anyway. I couldn't understand why the was a wait..the place wasn't that big or full. The menu didn't seem complicated. Our wait staff acted like we were inconveniencing her by being seated. I won't be back nor will I recommend this to anyone! July 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by ANC-KC My room was dirty when I arrived at about 6 pm but I did not see it until the next morning. The toliet base was soiled and the towels were very shabby and worn. There was a soap wrapper on the floor behind the toliet. The phone on the nightstand had a thick coat of dust on had not been wiped down in months. I called in the morning to report problems and ask that they be taken care of while I was out or that I was placed in another room. The issues were resolved whie I was out but I was disappointed that the room was not clean. I expected more from the Sheraton. Also, when I checked out, I was not asked how my stay cost $1,154.40 for 6 nights yet, no one inquired. July 22, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by SEMINAR The bar needs help, bartender was rude and obviously didn't want to be there. Had huge round tables blocking the doors. September 22, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by I wish I could stay elsewhere Unfortunately, meeting planners make this decision for me. The check-in is always a hassle, trying to get benefits due to the SPG/Delta partnership. Food is only tolerable in the one bar that passes as a restaurant (and very poor/limited in their "concierge lounge"). Poor location, not convenient to any of the KC attractions. Beds are good, but that's about all I can say for it. September 12, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Pretty good The $5 voucher at participating food and beverage outlets- is wrong. They will only give 500 Starwood Preferred Guest Starpoints... I wanted the $5 voucher and they refused, even though I pointed out the sentence of the $5 voucher and the man looked at me dumbfounded and said that they will not give me a voucher, only the 500 Starwood points... The food choices in the restaurant was very limited. Extremely slow service in the restaurant. I had to ask the server 3 times to bring me my check. And she was only serving 2 other tables at the time. I was not impressed. July 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Service, Great Location, Great Food This was my first trip to K. City and I was so totally impressed with the service and ease of getting to tourist areas. The food in the hotel's Spectators restaurant was great- in fact the French onion soup was probably the best I have ever had! Then during my 4 day stay there I had access to free shuttle service to take me to a few key areas that tourists like to visit. The concierge service was extremely knowledgeable in answering any of my questions regarding other restaurants or places to go. I would definitely consider staying here again if I return to K City. Rated 4 out of 5 by Accommodations The staff is outstanding! Super responsive and very helpful. I was there for five days for various meetings and every single meeting room I was in was FREEZING. A shirt and sometimes two sweatshirts were not even enough to stay comfortable. September 15, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not a very good experience This hotel was not very accommodating and nothing was right with our stay. We were told prior to our visit that we could request a conjoined room with family members. Made proper phone call prior to checking in. When I checked in they told me it wasn't possible. They checked me into a room that hadn't been cleaned. The pool area hadn't been tended from 4 p.m. to 10 a.m. with stacks of towels laying around everywhere and falling over in piles. Just not a very good experience for what I expected from a Sheraton. Disappointing. August 6, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Beautiful Room, Horrible Food Only problem with the room was the bottom sheets.. Because they didn't use elastic edged sheets.. they kept rolling up underneath us all night. Great view, very clean and beautiful. The food was so bad, even the bacon was terrible. Bacon really? Coffee in room was ok, but all creamers were partially busted and sour. By the time we had brewed the cups, we were ready to go. Great location, Great service. They did take the food off our bill, though the taste stayed for a while.. Because the food was that bad, I cannot recommend this hotel, as a tried traveler - eating is part of the deal. August 12, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by New Elevators 3 I just attended the 2013 Hallmark Convention and stayed at your hotel for two nights. We were suppose to stay 3 nights but left one night early. Your hotel was very nice EXCEPT for the elevators!! I would NEVER stay there again. I was on the 25th floors and waited up to 15 minutes for a elevator. After an evening event my friends and I waited in the bar for one hour and half for the elevators to clear out. If there is ever a convention again I would stay at another place just not to have to deal with your elevators. I can not believe that your facility meets your current regulations. August 4, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome We rode the train and walked the link to the hotel, i booked everything 3 days before travel. I booked the Lego land Sea Life package, was taking my 3 kids. The hotel staff was great, put us on the 39th floor for a great view of the city, had a club pass and breakfast from the top skies lounge. On Sunday when we needed to put our bags somewhere after check out and before travel they held our bags so we didn't have to pack them around all day. We had a great time, was our second train ride and second time staying with Sheraton KC, will be back again soon! Thank you Sheraton KC staff! August 12, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great facility Sheraton in combination with the Westin make this a great facility for work or attending the biggest events in KC September 14, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Spotty Service- when good, it's good, when not, it's bad Front desk service, in room dining, engineering, and housekeeping was good. But there was a constant issue between calling down for the valet to bring around the car, and the still having to wait for an extra 5-15 minutes for the car to show up once I got to the front door. I pay extra for the convenience of valet parking. Here, it certainly wasn't convenient. One valet was good, I think his name was Candelario. But I stayed at this property for more than a week. I tipped well. I chatted in a friendly way with the valets and bellmen, but none of that seemed to improve service. There needs to be better communication between the phone operators and valet desk. This lack of service prevents folks from thinking that Kansas City is anything but a provincial destination. August 3, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by unsatisfied customer The hotel itself was comfortable and welcoming. The staff was kind and courteous. Really the only complaint is that the rooms weren't cleaned well (one day the bed wasn't even made at all)or restocked with essentials (including toilet paper). We ordered room service a minimum of 4 times during our stay and every time the food we ordered was incorrect. For example, we ordered 4 perriers and they brought us 8. I ordered plain egg whites and I got a spinach and cheese omelet, my sister ordered her sandwiches dry with no mayo/mustard/etc. and every time it had mayo. We order milk, and we don't get it and even whole meals had been forgotten. I can forgive honest mistakes but 4 in a row? Something's not right. May 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome service! From check in to departure the entire experience was wonderful! I was a little concerned since there were over 1200 of us, but the staff rose to the occasion and all service was smooth and quick! Definitely the hotel for conferences! September 10, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Pool, hot tub, shuttle and great beds! Have been to this hotel for several conferences in the last few years. The staff is friendly, even when you arrive at 1 am, the beds are super comfortable, the pool is perfect for lap swimming, not too cold, and the hot tub is just what I need. Would prefer if they kept the pool and hot tub open a little later, 10 pm too early if you go out for dinner. But opens at 5 am. Shuttle to nearby locations was easy and fast. Loved that it was connected all over by the Link. Bar onsite is a great meeting place. They took away the open dining restaurant however - really missed that. May 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wedding Stay We stayed at the Sheraton KC Crown Plaza for a family wedding. The hotel was nice and the staff was all very pleasant. The hotel restaurant was a little pricey and staff was slow at times. The weather was very warm, so Sat. afternoon before a lot of guest went out for the evening, were in the pool with drinks and the crowd were all pleasant and respectful, even having young children in there to swim was not an issue. Rated 4 out of 5 by Billing system service poor, charges excessive The hotel is nice. But I got a line item charge (and corresponding credit) on my bill for "Spectators." When I called to inquire what "Spectators" is, the automated phone system put me into a ridiculously long phone tree voice mail explanation, letter by letter, spelled twice (even spelling "Sheraton") and then repeated a third time, about the email address that I could use to request a copy of the bill--which, of course, I did not need. Only after that did I get a prompt to enter "0" to talk with a representative. I got that person's voice mail, so when I went back to the operator, she transferred me to the Westin at Crown Center--a different hotel altogether. So, after I called the Sheraton again, I finally talked with a lady who identified "Spectators" as the lobby restaurant, where I had paid $2.51 in cash for a bottle (yes, one bottle) of Diet Coke. She could not explain either how or why a cash transaction got on my bill but offered to transfer me to the restaurant manager. That would have been a greater waste of time. My group room rate was $149. The hotel did not have the king room that I requested, so I got two double beds--for one person. The normal rate for a regular room like that is $279. Yet the hotel wants to charge for wifi service. When lesser nice-quality hotels can provide free wifi with much lower room rates, one would think that a hotel of this quality could furnish it without charge. The $16 per day charge for self parking also seems excessive. September 17, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Reservation mishap For the past two years I have made multiple room reservations to the MATSS meeting and in both cases the reservations were messed up. After last years mishap I made sure to have my paper work ready this year and sure enough it was a good thing I had it. Our reservation was maybe a little unusual as it was for six rooms with four arriving Sunday and 2 on Monday. But I received emails stating everything was good to go but at check in they were only holding three rooms for us. The good thing is we worked it out and they gave us another room after I produced the printed emails. October 18, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Service, Good Location, Bland Rooms Crown Center location is central to downtown KC as well as the Plaza. Covered walkways (the Link) connect to shops and restaurants nearby. Hotel is large but staff did a good job of making me feel warm and welcome during my stay. Valet parking is expensive for Kansas City ($21) but was fast and efficient. My Executive Deluxe Suite was spacious, clean and comfortable but a bit bland. Some personal touches (vintage photos of KC etc) would do a lot to enhance the environment. Fitness center was well maintained and nicely equipped. People should be aware, however, that there is no dinner restaurant in the hotel and that it's a bit of hike to find one. I was happy with my stay overall and highly recommend the hotel. May 29, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by This hotel was adequate. AC and ventilation in the rooms was not good. Rooms and hallways seemed dated. Room service forgot my pre-ordered breakfast but I was given a comp meal as a result. Dinner room service took twice as long as advised. Lobby staff did not understand how to assist me with sending a letter overnight and it took about 25 minutes to get it figured out. Experience was not my expectation for a Sheraton hotel. Rated 4 out of 5 by Wedding Was in town for a wedding and they did a nice job with shuttles. Facilities are nice, clean and good for a short weekend. September 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by KC Hotel This is my favorite hotel to stay in. Has been since I was a child. Great rooms, wonderful F&B outlets, and love the pool. wouldn't stay anywhere else in KC! September 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for a mini family getaway. Our family wanted one last summer mini vacation to gear up for fall and all the school activities. We chose to do a stay-cation and stayed in our own city to take advantage of what it has to offer. The staff is super friendly, the amenities are top notch and the club level offerings were great! We all had a great time and look forward to staying a quick weekend again. August 25, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Final Bill I requested my final invoice be slipped under my door on the day of my departure. I was told that I could come to the desk for this since the hotel was a green hotel (as in environmentally sensitive). I explained that the same amount of paper would be used whether I had to wait at front desk for it or whether it was slipped under my door. I asked again for the invoice to me slipped under my door. But the morning of checkout, it was not slipped under my door. A very distinct disadvantage from my perspective, and disingenuously described as a "green" initiative. October 12, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mid week getaway Came to KC to catch the first preseason Chiefs game. The staff were awesome and the beds were pretty nice. The shuttle from the hotel to the game is a wonderful amenity and the driver was very personable. The continental breakfast on the club level was a little disappointing so probably won't partake in that again. I've stayed at this hotel regularly during the football season and will definitely continue to do so. August 16, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5by Nice Hotel, but poor check in When I checked in the room was not ready and took over an hour to get checked in. I had mentioned this to the guest service agent upon check out and they advised that they'd give me points to make up for it. I was not yet a member, but hoping that it'd get applied as soon as I registered to be a member. It's a very nice hotel, just disappointed with the check in process, as I was there for a conference held at the hotel and was not given any details as to where the events where at. Other than all that it was a very nice hotel. June 19, 2014
