I am a Starwood Platinum member and stay at a wide range of properties in Canada and the US primarily. In a nutshell:
1) The hotel is extremely dated and looks stuck in the 70's. Worn, tattered and in need of updates at every level.
2) Check in was slow but adequate. The clerk apologized and indicated he would upgrade me. It was late and I just wanted a good nights sleep. I went to the room which was essentially two rooms. It was freezing...I don't mean cool...it was 57 degrees! I turned on the heat in each of the two rooms which had the old side heaters. I put extra blankets on the bed. My sleep was interrupted by loud knocking in the heater s...all night. By the time morning came it was still only 65 degrees...that is on my 3.5 hours sleep.
3) There was no hot water in the room...ran the water for 10-15 minutes, still ice cold. Took my army shower...great way to start the day. Called the desk and clerk said sorry, did I run the water. Then he offered my some consolation points and didn't offer another solution.
I could go into other small details but this is a mediocre property that I would never stay at again.

I stayed in the hotel for one night, on the 21st floor. Everything was very clean and the room was neat and had a great view onto the Virginia countryside.
The staff was very helpful and courteous at all times.
The restaurant was excellent - great food. We even got to meet the chef.
I will happily stay there again.

We stayed one night and visited University of Maryland the next day. Everything was great and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. It was a short drive to U of MD, and the surrounding town was cute. Breakfast in the club room was fantastic, fresh strawberries and fruit, eggs, oatmeal, and a latte/coffee machine, make your own, yum. Everything in our room looked new and had a luxury feel, very nice, bed was heavenly! It was a little noisy, our air unit was loud, but I bring earplugs to all hotels so not a problem. The workout room was clean and new and had everything we needed. Great hotel, I'd look forward to staying there again.

I paid extra hoping to have the connivence of the club level before my interviews. Went to get breakfast place filthy and no dishes to get food. This was at 8:15-8:30 waited hoping someone would show. Went back to my room to call and complain and got nothing but excuses. Went back at 9:00 and they where packing everything away. Was beyond a waste of money along with the room service that provided molded berries and a soggy/ cold mushroom burger. The room was comfortable and the girl who checked me in was nice. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone after that stay. Especially business travelers on a schedule.....

The hotel staff are all smiles with can-do and customer-first attitudes. I think the front line can make a hotel, and they do! The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable. The housekeeping staff are very responsive with friendly willingness to accommodate us. The hotel's location is perfect, with access to downtown Silver Spring and the metro to Wash, DC, via the hotel's convenient shuttle service. I've stayed many times and will continue to do so. Parking is convenient, though there is a charge unless you get it free with a special rate.

This was a complete surprise as my family stays in Sheratons often. More than once during my stay, the staff forgot to clean my room, refill the coffee, towels, etc. Not a pleasant surprise when I come back at night wanting to go to bed.
Also, the breakfast in the morning was very plain and they forgot to mention that during the holidays they are not serving it, but yet they are charging me for it. After complaining, they gave us a ticket to eat downstairs at the restaurant.
The front desk staff was helpful but after the fact.

When I arrived in my room, I found an air purifier running. The reason became apparent in a few minutes because my eyes started to burn. Reason? The room had been occupied by a smoker or smokers and reeked of smoke - not what you want to deal with upon arrival. I was assigned another room - no smoke there but the AC barely kept the room cool. The next morning, my room service breakfast was delivered 30 minutes late, so there was no time to eat it (although nicely presented). The room and its furniture also looked tired and dated. All-in-all, not a pleasant stay. I do not take pleasure in writing such a review, but "it is what it is".

I had "bugs" in the bathroom and in the be, I brought a live bug to the front desk and showed them. also there was a very noisy party going on in the rooms on both sides of my room and at 11:30PM I started advising the front desk of the noise and it kept up to after 3Am, no sleep, multiple live bus in the room.
