Rated 1 out of 5 by Amy20 This hotel is not ready for business.
We arrived at 1:00 AM and the room was not ready despite booking ahead and calling a half hour before arriving. After waiting 20 minutes, we were given room keys. The crib we had been assured was not there yet. We were also disappointed that there was no hot water. This hotel is under active construction. They were using circular saws in the lobby at 1:00 AM when we arrived. It is clearly not ready for business. We do not recommend staying here.

I recently stayed in this under construction hotel, which gets a pass on a few things because of it. What I can't excuse is being told that they ran out of washcloths. Another strike would be when I returned to my room and it was supposed to be cleaned and there is still trash in the garbage cans. After my first night, I was given plastic cups that you get at the $1 store instead of the glasses that I had from the first night. The last issue is that the room is way to dark, one more lamp would have made a difference.

I was not overly impressed with the condition of the hotel. I stayed here because it was the only hotel available due to a basketball tournament. There was a great deal of construction during my stay. This did not impact me in terms of noise but on a couple occassions it required me to walk down 11 flights of stairs to leave the hotel as the elevators were just not available. The room itself needs to be remodeled.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Minneapolis2014 Should be closed during renovations
This review is for the week of Feb. 24, 2014.
The lobby was a disaster and had multiple slip and fall hazards. There are areas of tile that had not yet been cemented down and it would move under foot. There were areas where the tile ended and the concrete floor began and there was nothing laid down (taped down cardboard for example) to smooth out that transition until the floor was finished. To get to the restaurant there are stairs and no ramp. The drywall dust in the air was gross and was also all over everything in the lobby. The areas under construction should have been behind a behind plastic sheeting to keep that dust out of the public area. The elevators were also horrible, not only were they very slow to arrive but they seemed like something you would find in a warehouse not in a Sheraton.
Room 1007 was less than optimal for my expectations of a Sheraton. Not only was the room very small, but when I arrived (and each night when I returned) the room was pitch black and there was no light switch or lights near the door. I had to use the light on my phone to see where I was going and had to navigate all the way to beside the bed to turn on a light. There is a switch near the thermostat but it doesn’t work and there is also no light in the closet area. From a safety perspective the peep hole in the door is damaged so you can’t see out into the hall creating a safety issue. My co-worker arrived back to his room one night to find that the door had been left open by the maid. His calls to report the issue went un-returned and that gives the impression of a management staff that aren’t concerned about their guests safety.
In the bathroom the tissue holder is bent and has left exposed a dirty insulation, under the mirror the tile is damaged and the toilet moves when you sit on it. One of the light switches in the bathroom only works if you hit it just the right way, there is also no place to hang your towel. In the shower the soap dish is loose, the tub is chipped, the grout in the tiles is falling out, the air vent above the tub is disgusting and there is black mold at the bottom of the glass enclosure. The glass in the door to the bathroom is stained and looks like it has been sprayed with something or has not been cleaned. There are no safety bars in the shower and that is dangerous because the glass enclosure prevents you from entering the tub in the center and you instead have to enter via the end of the tub where it isn’t flat. The glass enclosure also allows water to spray out onto the floor which creates an additional slip and fall hazard.
In the room itself the carpet had construction type stains (drywall compound or something similar). The dresser that the TV sits on is not functioning properly, the top drawer is very hard to open and close and the middle drawer won’t stay closed.
The only positives I can mention are the beds were very comfortable and the staff at the front doors and the morning shuttle were fabulous and very polite.
It is my opinion that having this hotel open during these renovations creates a poor brand experience for your Customers who book at Starwood properties and the Sheraton specifically. It reflects very poorly on the brand and even more so on a Customers likeliness of returning to the Sheraton in Charlotte.
I hope my feedback can be utilized to create a better experience for your future Customers.

Came into town for the concert with my friends. We didn't have any hotel reservation so we figured we would stop at the first place we came by Uptown. Fortunately, it was the Sheraton Charlotte Uptown. Called reservation line who gave us a great rate and instruct us to go to the hotel. The gentleman by the name of WAYNE was a scholar. As quick and fast as we wanted those rooms, he was delighted to make it happen with a smile and speediness. Service like this will motivate even the blind to visit this hotel again and again. Wayne you are the MAN!!!
You represent the Sheraton Charlotte Hotel Uptown well.

Hotel was under major renovation that we didn't know before we came -- would have made other arrangements if we'd known. Room was not cleaned well. I asked to have it revacuumed and it wasn't. Discussed this with the manager and he asked me to call the front desk if it hadn't been done -- couldn't reach anyone at the desk.

Had a problem getting my folio, but Wayne was the HERO of the day.
After calling the hotel several times, with no resolution, I decided to try one more time. Wayne answered, I explained my simple issue (just needed a copy of my folio for my expense report), and he researched and resolved this issue.
When you go to the hotel, ask for Wayne at the front desk!

Hotel was horribly overwhelmed - elevators were not operating and with the construction in progress, the hotel was in chaos the majority of the 2 days. The hotel was understaffed for the amount of people staying this weekend - the lines were bad and the staff was exhausted - it went beyond the ordinary busy weekend.
