I have stayed at this hotel about 5 times over the last few years. The rooms are small and not overly modern or clean. It can be difficult to get a room with two double beds if you need to sleep more people. If you do, the rooms are very small for three or more people to stay in. The check-in lines are long and slow. What takes them so long to check people in? Seems like they are doing all kinds of typing and clicking and looking and searching and whatever it is they are doing. Should be easier and simple. I stood in a line of about 10 people checking in and had to wait over 20 minutes before I got to the front of the line. Luckily, I got there when I did as a bunch of people showed up after me and waited way longer. There was only three people working check-in and one guy in the corner working on a computer but not helping anyone. People in line were not very happy. The best part of the hotel is location, especially if you are going to the Times Square area. It is easy to get to lots of places from here walking. Easy to get a cab and friendly doormen. I stay here only when I need to be close to Times Square. Otherwise, there are way better choices. Oh, and no free wifi. What are they thinking? Just makes people mad.

Stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. The hotel was very busy, and there was a super long queue to check-in at 730pm on a Friday night. It appeared there were only 3 front desk staff handling check-in at the time, so the lines did not move quickly.
However, once it was our turn, the check-in process was smooth. With my platinum status, I inquired about an upgrade, and we were assigned a renovated room on a high floor. That was the best on offer since we had requested a room with two double-beds. The room was adequate. It should be noted though that there was no complimentary bottled water in the room, and there was hardly any counter space in the bathroom (it turned out to be an accessible room, so this could be the reason).
Fortunately, we had access to the Club Lounge. They offer a generous breakfast selection plus a great view. The place was packed but the staff there cleaned up tables quickly and were helpful in trying to seat us. There were also bottles of water water that we could take back to our room.
Ultimately, we spent very little time in the hotel room except to sleep! But the location of the hotel was very convenient to shopping, and the theater district. And overall, the staff was friendly and helpful.

First time to NY with my wife for some pre-Christmas shopping. The hotel is great in terms of location, right in the middle of everything and easy to get around especially with great help from the Concierge. However, a potentially excellent stay was marred by exceedingly poor sound insulation in the rooms. The noise between rooms is so bad, you may was well do away with the walls and have everyone sleep in the conference centre. On two nights we had shouting and general conversation going on in both adjoinging rooms in the early hours of the morning (3am.) Also loud shouting in the corridors and banging on doors. I accept that this is outside of the control of the hotel, but expected that on the club floor of the hotel that this would not be as bad. The sound proofing in the rooms (considering they are newly renovated) is unacceptable. I am a platinum card holder with Starwood so travel very frequently and this exceeds any experience I have had anywhere in the world by quite some margin! There was no way to discuss this with any senior management at the hotel while we were there was no-one visible anywhere to discuss this with. Great visit never the less, great location but something needs to be done about the room noise
