Rated 3 out of 5 by This hotel has extreme efficient front desk personal This hotel does have people at the front desk, who are working more than 30 years. You can feel the competence and efficiency. On the other hand the fluctuation of the front desk personal is extremely high. Cleanliness must be improved as well as the bath rooms and the AC. April 27, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good facilities, poor comfort, overpriced food Stayed overnight on a business trip. The staff were courteous enough, although it would have been nice to have been offered some help getting my bags up to my room. My standard double room was spacious, with a good size flatscreen TV and all mod cons. The bed was large and comfortable with a choice of feather and foam pillows. On the negative side, the bathroom wasn't as clean as I'm accustomed to and there were some old leaflets lying on the floor when I arrived. Also, my room service dinner was rather ordinary given the price you pay. The main issue for me was that my room was near the elevators, so I was serenaded with the whooshing and whirring sounds all night. Moreover, my AC was clearly struggling to meet the demands on it and groaned plaintively until I turned it off and opened my window. Worked well until I was awakened by the road traffic the next morning. All in all, for the price you pay, I'd pick somewhere else. April 25, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Dated Very dated hotel, no wifi in rooms. Hotel was clean, staff friendly, lounge very good, small but welcoming. Very far from Dusseldorf, 65-70 euros in taxi October 29, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Die Mitarbeiter machen den Unterschied!
Rated 2 out of 5 by From top to flop Everything possible on this hotel - stayed here three times - if you receive a renovated room - it is o.k. - bathroom not clean, mirror still missing... but you can accept it. If you get an unrenovated room you have the feeling of getting back to the 70s (but room is clean!)... so hard to decide... Club Floor is o.k - the offers are fine, but often no service... Parking garage is below the hotel - but a public garage - so no 24h tickets possible - for every time you have to get a new ticket - so parking prices may increase to 30EUR... Gave the hotel three chances... and made my final decision... October 25, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by completely satisfied we stayed frist time here.complaints read below seem to be out-dated and it looks that they improved/changed.I had usual upgrades,an excellent light food and best wines in the lounge. very friendly staff everywhere. reasonable price and good location in Essen-town. i cannot comment on unfurnished rooms since not seen that. my room furnished in a good time-less style and offered a good environment. Staying 100plus nights a year in various hotels incl 50 nights in SPG it is surely one of the hotels I remember well and would recommend withowithout any hesitation. December 27, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good service but old rooms and no real SPG upgrades First of all, I have to point out that the service was very good in this hotel. Anything I needed was brought immediately and the staff was always friendly and helpful. The food and beverage met my expectation. Unfortunately the rooms were very old, there was no international movie channel (only pay-tv) and there was no Wifi in the room. I was told that I was upgraded, but I couldn't really see or feel that I was upgraded. The rooms were used and old. I was also surprised that the hotel has no own parking. I'm not sure if I will return to this hotel. December 30, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Ein Hotel aus vergangener Zeit! September 12, 2012
