My husband and I stayed at Sheraton Rome before and after our 7-day cruise, boarding from Civitavechia. Total 6 nights stay. Hotel is far from the city center, but hotel provide a bus shuttle to and from city center @ minimal fee. Hotel is clean with nice ambience. Room is big and comfortable. Overall, it's good value for your money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by wjjct The shuttle was handy
Once we figured out where the shuttle was waiting at the airport--could use better signs at the airport--it was a hassle-free stay in Rome for us. In addition, there was city shuttles through the day that were really convenient! And once we figured out how to get to the Metro from the hotel, we had a few options to get into the city centre.
Our reservation was for 2 rooms as close as possible to each other, and in the end, we got adjoining rooms with lock-offs! They were quite handy as we were traveling with 2 kids so the adults got their own room!
The front desk service was solid, answering questions and making the check-in/out process short and sweet.

We stayed in the hotel for two nights before our cruise trip. We felt very comfy after the long flight from Sydney to Rome. The room is small but good enough. Very clean and comfy. We had read all the reviews before we booked the hotel. We have a lot of helpful information. We booked our private pick up from the hotel to the Civitavecchia Port and the staff is very kind to help me to change the pick up time earlier so that we did not need to wait for the driver. The club lounge makes you at home feeling. Small but very comfy. You can access to the food, drinks and internet anytime during the day and evening. Very friendly staffs. After our cruise trip we stayed for another two nights. The club lounge staffs made you felt welcome back home again. Many thanks for their hard work.

Rated 3 out of 5 by RJS1 Good for airport or meetings, but it's not Rome
This hotel is a very convenient place to book-end one's trip to Rome if you're looking for someplace with easy airport access that has a really nice pool to unwind at.
This is primarily a meeting- and conference-focussed property, and it isn't exactly convenient to get into Rome proper whilst staying here, but it is convenient to EUR. The rooms are fairly small by American property standards, but nothing terrible.
Solid, reliable, and would stay here again when passing through and needing a place that can get me to an early AM flight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ryan212 It was a pleasure... This hotel is a fantastic choice when in ROME
I cannot express how fantastic and accommodating this hotel was for myself & mom. When we arrived, the director of food and beverage came to introduce himself and let us know we were upgraded to the club lounge with a welcome letter. Sabrina at the front desk was simply fantastic in helping me with whatever I needed from electric adaptors to shuttle service. The hotel offers shuttle service right to the center of Rome for just $3 Euro- and shuttle service to the airport for 5. The turndown service was excellent and we LOVED the offerings in the club lounge. This property does everything right and without breaking the bank. Almost everyone speaks English as well making it very easy to deal with. A little off the beaten path, but if your looking for a great place in ROME not too expensive- with SPG I urge you to check out this hotel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sivakumar83 Excellent choice for stay
The hotel and the shuttle service provided for reaching the airport and the city center are excellent. The shuttle service is very prompt. Once I missed it by one minute. Fantastic breakfast.
The only complaint I would have is that when my family from US tried to contact the hotel and asked for my room number, sometimes they were on indefinite hold and some other times, the phone in the room seemed to ring, but alas, it was not my room. They thought I was not picking up the phone. My three star rating is not reflective of my excellent opinion in other regards.

Thanks to my work I have been traveling the world over for over 25 years and as much as possible even when on vacations with my family I have always elected Sharatons. Of all Sheratons this is "IT" -- it has been my "second home" for the last 20 years.
Sheraton Roma is the exceptional experience from the expedient check in through check out .
"Home" because all of its personnel is professional, very friendly and courteous -- they will bend backward to meet your needs ! You don't have to ask for things a second time and everything functions perfectly . One very significant asset of Sheraton Rome is that its
General Manager Mr De Martino, a very elegant and attentive gentleman is always interfacing with guests to ascertain that their expectations are fully met . You can spot him in the hall, restaurant, bar, pool -- he takes his job at hearth. The rooms are spacious, very clean and quiet, the beds just fantastically comfortable.
Breakfast is abundant, good and with great variety . The restaurant is second to none, it's cuisine is very much in line with the best Italian restaurants and if you have a special request or need advice just ask for Benny -- a true Roman, open going, simple and very friendly, he will do everything possible to satisfy you.
The sixth floor Executive Lounge ........just great, just be sure not to go there before dinner .
Whether you come to Rome alone for business or vacationing with your family I highly recommend this hotel , among all the good things it is also the best return for your money .

4. staff is nice - but you should rather watch and care for yourself like in all Italy :(

This hotel is more suited to groups and conventions than individual travelers.
It is a significant distance from the center of the city. The instructions the hotel provided on how to get to the city, other than by taxi, were incomplete or incorrect.
The Club room is NOT worth the upgrade cost. In fact, you can just walk in the Club room at any time, as the door is always open.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sandy13 Destination Roma - a great experience!
The GM and his team have assured their full attention to make our stay most enjoyable. Plus the GM provided us with great sightseeing recommendations which was a nice touch. Furthermore, the front office team was very kind and helpful, i.e. the concierge advised us to visit a great restaurant just 5 min from the hotel. The communication was excellent and our stay was well organized. We truly spent an excellent time in Roma and this experience will be memorable.

I advise you to read everything about the hotel and check the schedules of buses to and from the hotel and especially the airport. Superior room - a dull room, not running computers in the sheraton link, location at the intersection of highways. Close to nothing. The hotel shuttle bus service to and from Fiumicino Airport 5 euros, to the city of 3 euros return for free (to the historic city center) will return to the Sheraton only when will find bargain price

Rated 5 out of 5 by Steccy Great hotel with great facilities
We stayed recently and I have to say the refurbishment they have done is excellent. We were upgraded and our room was lovely and modern.
The new restaurant area for breakfast is light and airy and breakfast itself was extensive. The pool area is spacious and the loungers comfy. For those of you who don't know Rome, there are no city centre hotels with pools.
The hotel is great value for money and has a shuttle bus that goes to the centre which is really convenient.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a reasonably priced hotel option in Rome, close enough to the centre with a pool.

The staff are truly great as always.
The Club Lounge is truly super, certainly the staff in the Club Lounge are the very best, many thanks to Maria, Said & Ilaurina! The pool is very nice during the hot summer days.
A special mention to all the friendly waiters of the restaurant (Osvaldo, Giovani & the rest).
A true welcome home feeling every time we stayed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by ChrisCross Dissappointing!!!
If you are looking for the friendly, and helpful customer service with a smile that you are accustomed to from Sheraton Hotels, this hotel should be your last choice. My family and I checked in last night and we felt as if the staff was doing us a favor by checking us in. Our Gold status was not even acknowledged. I had to mention it when I asked for breakfast. Our request was declined and the representative told me that it was a Corporate policy to only offer gold members internet or points, which is not true. (I have stayed in many Sheraton hotels that I was offered breakfast. Just last week in Padova we were given a choice of internet or breakfast). I took the internet and was told I had to pay for it first and then be credited. How can it be free if I have to pay for it first. The staff was not very helpful. Most of my questions received an "I don't know response" or a shrug of the shoulders. For e.g. I asked for recommendations on restaurants in the area that were affordable and the lady said she did not know. This is the second reason why I do not recommend this hotel--there food options are not very affordable. If you are a family on a budget, you would break the bank. If you are on business, it would be ideal because it is located in a business area and your company would pay for the expensive food. It is not close to any stores or restaurants and the shuttle they claim to have only runs every 11/2 hours. Plus you have to pay five euros per person. (Admittedly, this may be a difference between American hotels and European hotels. American hotel shuttles are usually free) We are staying on the second floor and as we walked to our room there was a foul smell with stains on the carpet. Even though they had sprayed some kind of air freshener, you could still smell the stench. This is no surprise as there was a tray left outside our room when we checked in and it is still out there this morning. This is going to be a very disappointing and very expensive vacation and I can't wait to check out. I just wish Sheraton had more family- oriented hotels in Rome. We cannot even regulate the temperature in the room. The only option you have is off or on. And this is the hotel that they say was renovated! From previous reviews, I can see that we are not alone in our experience, so nothing has been done to improve the customer's experience. Disappointing!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Charlie99999 Problem of The Management
I agreed with most of reviews about no recognition of Platinum members at this place. The top management team is too short-sighted and cutting corner from everywhere. I overheard two Asian tourist groups complained about shortage of amenities for every room they booked. No wonder my wife said there is only one set of bathrobe and slipper, and short of ...(a long list) . The hotel room is about 55% size of the USA standard (like most of the EU countries) . The Club lounge is well designed and has outdoor balcony with cabana setting but services are not there. The breakfast in the lounge is below standard and coffee always has burnt taste. There are some good employees like Enrico and Ilaria at Front Desk, and one bald head bartender (cannot remember his name). Without these three employees, I would give this hotel one star.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Lobo33 Worst SPG Hotel by far - 10 reasons to avoid this place
don t book a room here for a holiday stay in rom.
1) They don t recognize you or treat you like a Platinum Member
2) Room was tiny, next to the elevator - and "an upgrade" - interior oldschool, but expected
3) Mail to the manager to talk about issues - no response
4) Lounge is a joke - if you ask for a prosecco glass, they say "you have to wait til 7pm, take a water glass"
5) Lounge guests are sleeping there (!!!!!!!)
6) Food in the lounge is a joke - cold and old pizza, day for day
7) Breakfast is okay - no complains
8) Ways in the city described incorrectly, tried it every day, just to make sure they tell us sth. wrong
9) No "sorry", no "we try better tomorrow" - just unfriendly staff
10) ROME IS GREAT - THE SPG HOTEL ROMA is a JOKE

Rated 5 out of 5 by ljdmitry Great hotel in close proximity to city center
My wife and I have recently stayed at Sheraton Roma for 5 nights as part of our large European vacation. With SNUs we were given a Hospitality Suite, which had even more space than we needed.
Hotel is about 30 minutes from the city center, but the shuttle gets you there for 5 euros/person and brings back for free, Be aware that the shuttle runs every 1.5 hours, so familiarize yourself with the schedule to avoid any lost time.
Platinum status, as well as staying in the suites or on the lounge floors gets you access to the lounge with free food, drinks, and free access to the Internet. Service level provided by the lounge staff has been exceptional, and my wife and I felt welcomed at all times.
Lana at the front desk downstairs has been great - in addition to helping us with several small tasks, she was a big help in scheduling a tour to Vatican for us. We have not used pool or gym facilities, so cannot comment there.
Hotel also has a great restaurant onsite, which we have tried several times. While the food was exceptional, the waitstaff did not impress at all. While it was interesting during our first visit to observe them walk around and socialize rather than to attend to guests - it became quite annoying during subsequent times. Bartenders were great at all times, so no complaints there.
Overall Sheraton Roma has been a great choice considering low starpoint redemption category and mostly exceptional level of service we have experienced. Definitely recommend it to anybody coming to Rome for work or leisure.

I stayed here because of the valve I was in Rome for only two days did not want to spend a grand. Well I was not disappointed. Close to the city and airport. A shuttle bus to city and airport good SPG elite recognition nice lounge and great pool. If any complaint check out was as slow as some have said and the food as usual in most lounges suck. But everything else was very good I could almost give this hotel 5 stars maybe next time i would stay here again.

Location outside the city center. Good shuttle bus connection to the city center (3€ per person. Children under 10 don't pay) and 20 minutes shuttle bus ride to the airport (5€ per person). Bus #31 goes to Vatican City and stops in the front of the hotel. Nice and very friendly staff. Hotel needs some renovation and improvements. Only continental breakfast (no hot meal) served in the morning in the club lounge for breakfast.

We really enjoyed our stay at Sheraton Roma. The staff made the difference! Cordial, pleasant, and accommodating at all hours. Breakfast buffet was great, but we especially enjoyed our quite room (various sites warned us about the noise in centrally located hotels). We were there for sightseeing, so the fact that the shallowest end of the pool was still too deep for our kids was no problem, but we would have used the pool if that were not the case. The hotel offers transportation to the city center as well as the airport for an additional fee (a bit pricy but very convenient--return trips from the city are free). You can also walk to the metro (10 minutes), but you have to negotiate a hill. As a Sheraton Preferred Guest, we were able to check out at 4:00pm, which we very much appreciated. Otherwise we would have spent a lot more time at the airport!
We did not like paying for the Internet; that is increasingly a point of contention at major hotels. Although maintaining a working wi-fi costs money, it is not that much and should be standard at such hotels as the Sheraton.

He was not very accomodating. He did not take out the luggages for the guests.

I'm not sure why this hotel is rated so low. For a Rome hotel, I think it's very good value with convenient access to public transport. We were there with our 3 teenagers and able to take the bus and train to most Rome attractions quite easily. Also explore the EUR area for a different experience, within easy walking distance. The hotel is quite tired and needs a facelift, but a full breakfast each morning and access to club lounge with chianti and prosecco for late night drinks, I think it's really good. Hotel was very crowded when we were there, pool was full, but all in all, we had a great time. I would recommend this hotel for anyone going to Rome!

We stayed here twice during our 10 day stay in Rome. The first 3 days, we were in Rome for a wedding and this was the hotel that was booked for us. The last 3 days of our trip, we decided to use our points and stay at the Sheraton.
Our stay was average. Not the best hotel, but definitely not the worst. The rooms are definitely not your average American hotel room size. It's a tad less roomy. That really wasn't an issue for us though.
We didn't find anything wrong with the cleanliness of the room. I usually stick to wearing flipflops at any hotel I stay at.
The A/C worked well for us. We noticed that each room had a different dial though.
The SPG floor was not that different from the non SPG rooms. The only differences I saw were that there was a bath robe in the closet and a few magazines on the coffee table.
One of the best parts was the complimentary breakfast. My father in law loved eating breakfast there each morning. There was a lot of fresh fruit (both cut and whole), a nice array of pastries and bread, OJ, a coffee/cappuccino/espresso machine, meats, cheese, and cereal.
The restaurant was a bit of a miss for us though. The pasta was not cooked through. Yes, we were expecting al dente, but this was not even al dente. The food was over priced and it would have been better to just take the shuttle into the city and eat there.
We also took advantage of the shuttle that takes you into the heart of the city. It was much easier to use the shuttle than the subway only because it picked us up right at the hotel.
The wireless internet is free in the lobby and there are computers you can use as well. However, the computers are in need of an update. My gmail wouldn't open up properly because the browser was so outdated.
We would probably stay here again if we ever go back into Rome. I liked getting away from the city at night and having a nice place to rest.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DevinRpt Great value for Rome
This hotel is pretty far from the main tourist sights, but totally doable. I stayed one night for a weekend trip to Rome and used the free unattended lot to park. When I pulle dup, there was no one to greet me and point me to the parking or even to wave for me to stop so they can ask if I ws checking in to assist with bags. So I just pulle dinto the parking lot and went to the check in desk. The clerk didn't ask what Gold gift I wanted to recieve, so I guess asked at checkout the next day. In the room, my name wasn't on the tv screen like it usually is "Welcome (your name)". I know it's small stuff, but at a SPG property, these are common nice touches to expect.
I called downstairs to request for more free bottles of water, and the person said that housekeping does that and they will transfer me. It's nice that they transfered me, but I felt that they didn't have to shift the responsiblity to another department... just say no problem, let me transfer you. It just seems more pleasant and seamless that way in my opinion. I didn't use the shuttle nor did I inquire about it and instead used Uber to the tourist sights. Took a normal cab back on day 2 from the Vatacian and that was 20 Euro. Walking to the subway station is not ideal. I wouldn't recommend it if you are a single woman or have children. The bar is good with generous pours of whisky.
All in all a decent stay. I woudl recommend this to other travelers due to the value.

I came here with my wife on vacation. This is primarily a business hotel but the location worked out good for us. The hotel itself is great and the prople are wonderful. We used the concierge a LOT. It is not near anything that you can walk to except a 10 minute walk to the metro (not a great walk). The shuttle downtown is $5 and is good but runs every 90 minutes. We used both the metro and the shuttle to get downtown. Overall we would stay here again as the hotel and Club floor were great! We saved a lot by not staying downtwon and the metro and shuttle were adequate. We also went to other cities in Italy and used this as our base, so staying downtown would not have helped.

Stayed twice on business. Front staff attentive and couteous. Accomodations excellent especially the fitness center and the conference center. Found the room's internet access a bit expensive. Disappointments were the consistently undercooked breakfast bits (eggs and sausages) and the restaurant's lack of menu variety. The buffet was nice when combined with an entre. Curiously, the restaurant staff had periods of 'haughtiness' where they basically ignored guests while chatting among themselves or did very menial things instead of helping people obviously waiting for service. Also, they opened the restaurant when things were clearly not yet ready for business. Strange.

The newly-restorred lobby is fresh and attractive but most of the rest of this 30 year old cookie-cutter property is showing its age...with carpets and soft-furnishings often soiled.
SPG recognition was virtually nonexistent - no significant upgrade other than Club access but this is one of the poorest Clubs in the chain. The staff are dour and unpleasant and the Happy Hour offering of dry snacks and mini-pizzas in embarrassing.
The location is poor with virtually nothing around the hotel except highway ramps and a long commute on an infrequent shuttle into the historic city.
The breakfast array is very nice. It is handy having an ATM on property as the hotel is so remotely-located.

We spent 5 nights at the Roma in late May 2012. Our room was small but quite comfortable and clean. We found the front desk staff to be friendly and helpful, especially Mauro and Alfredo, who went over and above in their assistance when our luggage was lost for several days by the airline and my husband's wallet was stolen on the subway. Although the hotel is located about 4 miles from the center of Rome, the shuttle runs frequently and reliably and there is also a metro stop within an easy walk from the hotel.. We would return here if we are in the area again. It is a good value using starpoints.
