Rated 5 out of 5 by Peter720 Very nice stay
My wife forgot her firm pillow, and had a difficult night's sleep. The staff provided a couple hypo-allergenic pillows, but they didn't seem to help. I would recommend a policy of having at least a few firm, foam wedge pillows on hand for guests with special need. Otherwise, everything was perfect. Great location, convenient to Vail or Beaver Creek. We had dinner at the nearby Vin48, and had a spectacular meal. We'll definitely come again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by HappyTraveler77 Broken Down
My wife and I have stayed at this hotel several times and each visit the hotel seems to deteriorate. At our most recent stay the following issues were noted:
1. Faucet in the kitchen was completely broken.
2. Shower head in the bathroom did not work.
3. The hot was cold and the cold was hot in the bathroom faucets.
4. The DVD player did not work.
5. The heater in the bedroom was broken.
6. The housekeeping does not come until 5PM...not joking about this.
Overall the hotel has significantly declined since our first visit and I was completely disappointed. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Geo10 our bonus night
my wife and I always try to schedule at least I night at SMV anytime we are close. This time we were on our way back from visiting grandkids in Salt Lake. We arrived apx 3pm on a beautiful day. She went on a walk and I cooled my heels catching up on the Golf Channel. later that evening we went up to the village at Beaver Creek ( a fabulous world class resort) . We had a great burger at the Dusty Boot and then had coffee , seated by a fire next to the ice rink. After a good nights' sleep we walked a few hundred yards to Bob's, a local favorite, and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. By 11:00 we had to hit the road but had made some more memories at SMV. It was as clean and well maintained as the first time we visited back in '08. We enjoyed the overall experience so much that a few years later we became property owners and have not been disappointed.

My weekend stay for the Soul Mountain Music Fest in Beaver Creek was reason for my visit. There were four of us and the one-bedroom villa was perfect for comfort and economics! And the staff was very attentive to our needs. Avon is quaint and I will visit again just to chill there...

Rated 3 out of 5 by NextTrip No Air Conditioner with 82 degree outside temperature
I was surprised this Category 5 villa does not have air conditioning especially during August when the outside temperature was around 82 degree. For a Category 5 villa, it should have air conditioning in rooms or the hotel Category should be downgraded to a 2. The main hotel web site should have a large print letting propspective guests know that it does not have air conditioning in the rooms, only in the hall ways and public areas.

We found the Sheraton to be very convenient and comfortable. It was only my husband and myself this trip but we'd definitely book the Sheraton in the future if traveling with the kids and grand kids.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RU2WA Great hotel with minor issues
Don't get me wrong, we had fabulous time in Avon! The rooms were nice and clean. One problem we incountered during staying there that it gets very hot on the 8th floor. Fans don't really help, the air still stays hot. We had ceiling fans and portable fans on and it didn't make any difference. I understand that it only gets hot couple weeks a year, but for us it was almost unbearable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ron1969 Great stay
We got more than we bargained for. The room was great...the staff was friendly and we paid a fair price for it.
I didn't ever feel like they hit me with a bait and switch. Some hotels you check into and they hit you with a parking fee, resort fee and every extra fee they can come up with. This one didn't. It was so nice to feel like we got a great value for our money. Excellent hotel and very fairly priced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LAMA Beautiful condo/hotel in great location for reasonable price
We loved our stay here. Like other comments have mentioned, the room can get a little warm since the window only opens slightly and there is no a/c (however...this did not surprise us because we know mountain resorts don't have a/c). A fan was provided that worked to draw in cooler air at night. The facility was really beautiful and reasonable. We loved our room and made use of the convection/microwave and the bbq grill. We also used the workout room, sauna and hot tub. All of the facilities were clean, new, comfortable and pretty. We walked to dinner at night and there were lots of shuttles up to the mountain for getting up to Beaver Creek as well. We would definitely stay here again!

Eight of us piled into to a lock-off for a ski vacation. Accomodations were perfect, as we used two roll-away beds as well. We also used each of the hot tubs after skiing daily for six days! However, the best part was the staff: Matthew Keyser (concierge) was well informed and very helpful; he provided excellent recommendations. Maria Lopez (front desk) was very helpful on a number of occasions. And Lea (housekeeping) was wonderful -- we had some special requests requiring some urgency; Lea came through for us! There were other staff (housekeeping, night auditor, etc) that we came into contact, and everyone was helpful, knowledgeable and eager to assist us. The team worked well together and as individuals. We'll be back!

Our daughter become quite ill in the middle of the night. Your staff was very helpful. In particular, Maria at the front desk was wonderfully kind. My thanks to her.
The only slight negative is that housekeeping was closed and there was a replacement set of sheets available for the pull-out bed. We made do with what was available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Canuck72 A great vacation, and a great hotel
We brought our two daughters (ages 6 and 4) to Colorado for a Spring Break vacation in the snow. The highlight of their trip (aside from the tubing) was the time spent at the Sheraton Mountain Vista Villas. The 2-bedroom villa we booked was incredibly spacious and the in-room amenities (eg. multiple fireplaces, TVs, DVD players, patio grill etc) made for an enjoyable "at home" experience. We also enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub - a different experience for these Floridians to swim in the snow. We enjoyed our stay very much, and a sincere thank-you to the General Manager for his kind hospitality.

Rated 2 out of 5 by PlatinumTraveler66 There are better options in the Vail Valley
The Sheraton Mountain Vista does not meet the standard of many other properties at its level within the Starwood family. Our overall experience was very disappointing. Room crammed next to an elevator shaft, elevators extremely slow to respond, on-site food option is really poor and location is not particularly convenient to other options. Room states it can handle four, but it had virtually no storage for the clothes of one person. One staff person was excellent, but the others were uninspired (our phone never worked the whole week) to follow-up on issues. Further, the "heated" pool was ice cold. Only tried it one afternoon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HappyCamper3 Very Comfortable Accomodations
We were very happy with our accommodations. The rooms had everything we needed for an extra comfortable stay and was decorated very nicely. The housekeeping staff did a wonderful job. They even ran the dishwasher for us everyday. Everyone was extremely helpful and went out of their way to accommodate us. Although the location is not ski in/ski out the bus pick up and drop off is within 50 yards of the front door. Indoor parking is nice. The concierge was immensely helpful and proactive. She even emailed us prior to our arrival to see if she could assist with anything. She also has a magic wand and can get you dinner reservations at several places close by on a moments notice. This location has several restaurants within easy walking distance. This property is managed extremely well. In fact other SPG properties could take a lesson from how it is managed. Keep up the great work!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by SD70 Overall a good property, but notes to know
Let me start by saying that the Mountain Vista is a good property and that my family and I enjoyed our visit to the Vail Valley. The rooms and service are generally on-par with what one would expect with the Sheraton brand. However, there are a few notes that are worth mentioning.
1. There is no restaurant on property (there is a mini-mart slash coffee shop on the first level, but it is only open 6 days and closes mid-day). Rooms do have a kitchen or kitchenette, but if you don't prep your own meals you will have to look elsewhere.
2. The rooms are hot and there is no way to control the temperature, minus opening a window.
3. Beds listed as queens are really more lily to be full-sized.
4. In the standard sized room there is little room to store clothing or hang wet ski gear…It is worth getting the larger room.

No one either knew or said anything about being a SPG Member (Not A Big Deal). The Hotel is GREAT as is the Staff. All your needs are met without problem. The room is like staying in a Si Lodge on the slopes and is cozy and clean. Room was a bit on the hot side and thermostats appeared as if they could not control that, easy fix Open the door. Just a fantastic place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JeanetteP Great hotel to stay in during the ski season!!!
I highly recommend this hotel if you are going skiing. I love the location close to Beavercreek and Vail. They have a shuttle bus that picks you up right in front of the hotel (for free) to Beavercreek. It takes only about 10 minutes to get there with stops. They also have a shuttle bus to Vail for a small fee.
They have 3 hot tubs, one on the roof outside, another on the roof inside and one in the ground level next to a heated pool. There’s a fireplace next to the pool and hot tub downstairs. It was nice for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores.
The rooms are very comfortable and cozy. They have a nice fireplace, kitchenette, dinning table and pull out sofa. They even have a grill outside! Housekeeping does a great job of cleaning rooms each day!
Their staff is wonderful and treats you with respect. I came across Abby in the front desk who is very sweet and helpful, Candice the concierge who is very informative and gave us wonderful recommendations, coupons, etc., Rigo who I think is an assistant manager, is very attentive. I had a small situation with the room and between the front desk attendant, Hector and maintenance they fixed it right away to our satisfaction.
I like this hotel and their wonderful team of staff members so much that I have just booked it for the third time!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Leslie04 Somewhat disappointed
Because we registed under Starwood Points, I assumed incorrectly that the standards were the same as other Westin Starwood Hotels. We really missed the heavenly bed, comforter and especially the pillows. It was very difficult to sleep in what the front desk told us was a queen bed. We have a queen bed at home and this one seemed much smaller -more like a full size. The toaster was rickity and should be replaced. We called for more coffee and tea packets as they were not replaced daily. Remove the picture on the wall and replace with hooks to hang coats and ski jackets. It felt cramped. Even though we turned the thermostat OFF, it was still too hot to sleep, so we slept with the door slightly open.

Two drawbacks to this property - lack of in-room storage space; small-sized washer/dryer. Otherwise the property was great - nice heated underground parking; friendly staff; comfortable bed.
