I have stayed at this hotel often over the past 5 years. It has been nicely renovated and refreshed. The staff is responsive and the club lounge is great (I'm not a huge fan of having to fill out the room and tip form, but it's a slight inconvenience. The proximity to Harvard Squsre is a key selling point.
The building itself and the layout sometimes cause really awkward room configurations. For example, my last stay was in 611. The layout is weird - tv in the corner is essentially unviewable from bed. The bathroom door can't even open all the way and that's after they tilted the toilet so it isn't flush against the wall. For a place with pretty spacious rooms, the bathrooms are extremely tiny and tight.

I highly recommend the Sheraton Commander in Cambridge. I stayed over the summer of 2015. I was on a multi-day, multi-city business trip with my kids in tow as it was the summer. On the way to Boston, my son informs me he left his toothbrush at the Sheraton in NYC and his flip flops. My daughter rang Starwood and explained to them that we would need a toothbrush and slippers when we arrived and that yes, we would be arriving late. I was very grateful that the front desk had received the message and taken care of the toothbrush and had slippers for all of us when we arrived. Since it was late, I knew I would not be able to go out and find them. It was exceedingly helpful for the hotel to take care of this for us. Thank you kindly.

Desk personnel were very friendly and helpful, as they always are, yet it's still nice to experience. The woman managing the club lounge was extremely pleasant and helpful and a great credit to the hotel.
We didn't realize there was a charge for bottled water, which seems pretty chintzy! Next time we'll know better and provide our own.

Last minute reservation for New Years Eve handled with no problem. Amenity upon arrival was nice touch, but just the beginning. The new restaurant NuBar is awesome-this coming from a self proclaimed foodie. We thoroughly enjoyed every morsel and the Chef made rounds through the restaurant a lost art these days!

Great staff always calling us by name. Easy walk into Harvard Square. Walking distance to Lesley University and Harvard University. Comfy clean rooms and a great club lounge.

I have been a guest in this building for 55 years. I was in there when they were guest apartments so I have a fondness for it.
The hosts and staff are great. friendly and very helpful
My major problem with the hotel is the lack of lighting. The lights are not even bright enought to read by. The lack of lighting makes the rooms gloomy to the point that I do not like staying in rooms on the front courtyard becasue they are so gloomy and dark. Next time make sure the interior decorators get more and/ brighter lamps in the rooms.
The HVAC is difficult to modulate and the rooms are either too hot or too cold.
the food is way to expensive for what you get. going down for a breakfast that is self-served and has an underwhelming, pre-packaged breakfast for 38$ is insane. Henrietta's Table will give you a cooked and heartly breakfast for much less. Either provide a sumptuous, cooked breakfast for the price or what you get should be MAXIMUM 12$.
