The room is clean, but it's too noisy, because it's too near to the airport.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Darewalk Well located, Friendly staff
Just returned from my stay at the Sheraton Deira. Like others, I was very skeptical when I read comments abt noise at night from nearby discotheques. I alerted hotel abt it. Pleasantly, I don’t remember having lost any sleep due to noise. It’s worth staying at Club floor as service at the club lounge is very best and personalized. The staff greet and serve you with a smile. The other staff and room service also very good. I had problem in wi-fi connection with my lap top. They immediately deputed one of their technical person who resolved the same in 2 minutes. Lot of food options at walking distance for even vegetarians like Sarvana Bhavan ( across the hotel), Annapurna etc.
I found it best to use the metro even for going to nearby locations as getting taxi at many places ia a problem. Though nearby station is abt a kilometer away but it is an easy walk. Best is to buy a full dya visitor pass costing Dh 16 ( with dh 14 as charge). Everything is accessible by metro. Carrefour at nearby Deira city center and choithram in Sabka area are best for general shopping. These stores carry the most variety. For bargain/ street shopping for miscellaneous items/ clothing best is the area near Sabka Bus Station in Deira near Al Rigga station. This whole area is full of bargain shops.
With regard to gold shopping, no problem with regard to purity, all is guaranteed. You may have to check a few shops abt making charges (this is where you can bargain- at one shop, I was told Dh 30/ per gram for making charges on chain, but some other shop mentioned Dh 12 and I could bargain to Dh 8/ gram). None of the shopkeepers pester you and they respect that you would take time for decision making.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DrTraveller Much better than expected
It was our first stay at this location. The staff were friendly, the breakfast buffet could use more variety and the tv in one of our rooms wasn't working properly. Overall we were well received as SPG members which made our stay even more pleasant. The hotel itself is not far away from the train station which makes daily commute hassle free. I'd recommend this hotel if you're staying in dubai for a short period of time and looking for comfort and hospitality :)
