The hotel and staff were excellent and the location was perfect for what we needed.. The only negative was on Friday night there was a dance in the hotel and the noise was very uncomfortable in the hotel room as even the floor was shaking...

This hotel far surpassed our expectations. We visited our granddaughter, who is a student at Syracuse University, and it proved to be not only an excellent hotel in all respects, but in an ideal location to see her. Her dorm was a short walk from the hotel and best of all, we had a marvelous "bird's eye view" of the campus from our room, which we would not have enjoyed, had we stayed elsewhere.

Upon check-in, we were told the hotel was overbooked. We spent a long time at the desk while they tried to find us rooms since they had given ours out in spite of the fact that we had paid in full well in advance (note that we arrived at about 9:30 and, given that we were stated as part of the UVM parent weekend where we observed many other parents coming in later, this didn't seem like an unreasonable time)! We waited and waited while our very nice (and clearly flustered) check-in staff member tried to find us a room. This was complicated by the fact that he was looking for 1 room for four of us even though two rooms had been booked for our party. Upon some examination, it was found that the person who had taken my call-in reservation (required as we were signing in to a university tour) had made a mistake on my name spelling on one of our reserved rooms. ( Thanks to Edgar for finding the problem). Nevertheless, once it was determined that we had booked two rooms, the hotel tried to solve the overbooking by assigning our four member family first in one room, then in rooms three floors apart. We were not happy with our 85 year old mother being placed first in a sofa bed, then in a room so far away from us so finally they came up with rooms closer together ( They are bigger!...yeah but not doubles: 2 single king sized rooms with a sofa bed so one of our party who was booked a normal bed ended up in a pretty uncomfortable sofa bed).
Meanwhile.....once we finally headed for the assigned rooms, the elevator and stairways nearest the rooms were declared out of order and we had to walk walk walk to one elevator serving multiple hallways of rooms. We noticed that, in the same area, the fire alarms all had masking tape around their sensors (!?) When we finally found our rooms, it was a bit uncomfortable in that one of our rooms had a fruit and cheese platter in it addressed to "Mr. Tracy" for the evening and we were a bit concerned that Mr. Tracy would show up at some point in a weird scene with grandma.....
Then there was the noise in the hallway as the guy brought cribs and trundle beds to rooms using a map and loud radio at about 11:00 at night. Strange that, when peeking out the door, it seemed that none of the rooms where he delivered these things seems to be occupied....

We love this Sheraton. The people that work there are super friendly and make sure that all expectations are met. This trip, we felt the room was warm and we set the thermostat on the lowest temp. It still clicked off for long periods all night where the room became very hot and actually woke us up. We would sleep when the cool air was blowing. The temp never was as low as the thermostat setting so technically it shouldn't have shut off. I think I would bring a fan next time.

Each member of your staff was very friendly and attentive to us. The front desk was exceptionally considerate and personable, as well as efficient and expedient. In all, a very pleasant experience to be there.

Arrived shortly before 1:00 am exhausted after 8+ hours of flying and waiting in airports.
Upon arrival I received a warm welcome from Jim
After unpacking some stuff and while in the washroom noticed short black curly hairs in the bathtub, called down to reception to let Jim know and was offered a new room but did not have the energy to repack, go back down and check into another room so I declined.
Went to sit down on the couch to send off a quick email before doing so moved the white pillow/cushion to reveal a bloodied Kleenex and an orange sales tag.
Happened to glance at the alarm clock, it was a little over 3 hours off, but I had no energy to change it went to bed.
Unfortunately knowing that you are sleeping in a dirty room does not lend itself to a good night sleep so I woke up early and checked out.
There are many hotel choices closer and less expensive than the Sheraton, but I have had exceptional experiences at of the other properties and did not mind paying a premium price or driving out of my way.
Looking at other guests experiences it appears that I happened to get a bad room.

The Sheraton Syracuse Hotel offers an outstanding location overlooking the Syracuse University campus. I've stayed at this hotel on every trip to Syracuse the past several years perhaps 15 times. The staff is extremely friendly and their overall customer service is outstanding! I highly recommend this SPG property.
