So great to find a hotel that is pet friendly, but offers beautiful rooms and amenities! I'm so tired of hotels that act like all pets are going to destroy or smell up their rooms and want to charge you extra fees. Most pets are far better trained and behave much better than most kids. You don't have pets destroying things or running up and down the halls screaming or crying, yet it's illegal to charge a fee for a kid. The room was beautiful and much nicer than many hotels I've stayed in and yet it's pet friendly at no extra charge. Way to go Sharaton!

As a former employee from the mid 90's I once knew this hotel inside and out. While visiting Richmond I was looking forward to sharing with my wife the place I once worked with as a young man. So I booked us a room online for a quick day trip back to Richmond. Unfortunately from the moment we walked up to the front doors I could tell this was not the same great hotel I used to work at. In fact through out our one night stay we found a plethora of things that simply would not have been acceptable 20 years ago. Such as...
HOTEL IN GENERAL
-paint on the front doors had huge areas chipping off
-elevator smelled horrible
-indoor section of pool had odd pools of chemicals floating on surface
-outdoor section of pool had leaves and sticks in it
-the public jacuzzi had been long been closed down and covered with a terrible and tacky make shift wall
-the very idea of potentially putting a hold on a debit/credit card for TWO WEEKS is simply preposterous
-when reserving I specifically requested that I did NOT get a lake view & was given a lake view
-room was missing items, called the front desk to get these items, after two hours had to call again to get items
ABOUT OUR ROOM
-coffee station was not stocked
-AC unit in room EXTREMELY noisy
-bed was VERY loud and creaky
-pillows were very uncomfortable
-a Christian cross DRAWN ON THE WALL ! behind one of the bedside lamps!
-mold coming through in corner of ceiling
-wallpaper peeling in several spots
-ceiling in bathroom chipping and cracked
-large crack in the base of the front of the toilet
-towel rack loose and coming off of wall
-mold coming through wallpaper behind towel rack
-AND TOO MANY LITTLE NOTES ALL OVER THE HOTEL ROOM! With each one trying to charge you for this or for that. It makes the room look trashy and cheap!!!

This was a GREAT stay! The hotel was superior as Sheraton' go. It also has a beautiful setting. It's (apparently) in an Industry park. It sits on a pond with water fowl and lovely walking paths. The elevator are glass so you can appreciate the view while you ride and the restaurant also has a view of the pond areas.

Let me just say This Hotel Was So Clean, So Accommodating, So Gorgeous and I checked in Such a Large Group and we booked many rooms that every single person in my group was so satisfied that they called other people that was going to our function in town and told them to check into this hotel instead of the place they were staying in. We even extended our stay. Thank You So Much Steven and the wonderful Denise For getting our room request and pricing spectacular we couldn't have asked for anything more. You also should be very Proud of Your Staff. A Huge Hug To Them Also.I'm so sorry about the make-up on your sheets by some of my Group. Kisses from Chykhana of The Kiki Group.

What really made the facilities so great is your staff. All were very courteous and attentive while talking with guests. It was as if each guest was the only guest.
That attitude began with the greeting and continued to our departure.You should commend your staff.

As Starwood members, we had higher expectations. Check in clerk negative and unwelcoming, club lounge breakfast had few items left despite the early hour,and employee was inattentive and unconcerned when approached and replaced only juice, then sat down to watch tv.

I recently stayed at this dump. First, my room was next door to the Club Lounge. Not only was it next door, it actually had a connecting door option. The headboard of the bed was on the shared wall and next to the connecting door. To say it was loud is an understatement. I could actually hear the conversations next door... had a tv blaring at 3am (called the front desk and it was turned off) and then heard all of the breakfast prep at 5:30 am. I brought this up to the front desk at checkout and they laughed and said 'sorry.' That was it.
The hotel is a dump in a bad location and the staff is just as bad.

I currently live in Myrtle Beach SC & drive up to NYC to visit my grandchildren and friends often. The drive is over 12 hours and a bit much in one shot. To make the travel more pleasurable I stop over at the Richmond Sheraton South and then continue the rest of the 7 hours the following day. I love the hotel, for many reasons... professional staff, ultra clean rooms, great food, great location, wonderful shopping! and of course so important for my traveling 4 legged, is the Pet Friendly policy! I highly recommend this hotel to everyone. Keep up the great work! I will be back in June! Yaay! :>)

It has been a few years since I stayed at this hotel. It was lovely to see the facility was even nicer than the last time. My room was super clean. I really appreciated the facility-wide wireless. I had a nice glass of wine compliments of SPG points in the bar and the bartender was very courteous. The woman working in the club lounge was friendly and very nice to visit with. She knew other regular guests by name and they were all happy to see her. The buffet luncheon provided for our meeting was very good. This hotel was so quiet and pleasant. I really enjoyed my stay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DDS5 A Welcome Oasis In The Night from Holiday Travel
After driving southbound on I-95 from from the DC area returning home to Orlando, FL, stuck in heavy congestion, with our three dogs, we decided to stay overnight at this hotel because it was dog friendly. We were able to book a Junior Suite on the "Pet Floor" at a very good rate. We were all very comfortable and and enjoyed a good meal and a good night's rest.
It was a few miles away from I -95, but definitely worth the extra minutes of driving time.
We would definitely stay her again during our next trip to DC.

We've been staying every year for four years now. Always enjoyed it, except this year. There were literally bus-loads full, of little children. Making all kinds of noise, knocking on doors till midnight. Then we got woken up at six in the morning by a barking dog in the next room!!! Needless to say next year we will be picking a hotel that doesn't allow dogs!! The hotel has seven floors, but only two elevators and two luggage carts. Its impossible to use either when 200 other people are all checking out at the same time!! Pool was closed!!

We like this hotel because they take pets and it is in a safe neighborhood.
The carpeting certainly could use some updating or at least a thorough cleaning. The parking lot lights were out on two separate visits (Dec 2011) and bulbs hadn't been replaced. The staff was confused about the lounge and while we were told it was open, it turned out it was not and breakfast was not even being served. I think the staff should be a little more well informed. The dining room however, served a wonderful breakfast and the waiter was extremely service focused.

This hotel has become our get-away from long weeks of work, or needed breaks from life's woes.
In the recent storm that hit much of western and central Virginia, we lost power for more than seven days! With our SPG program benefits, it was more economical for us to stay at this hotel, an hour and a half from our home town, including our gas, than the hotels in our community.
We are treated like famliy! They recognize us at check in. We'll be spending more nights there in the future--hopefully for fun more than necessity.

I was just staying one night. But the 11 year old world series of baseball was staying 3 nights. What seemed like 10,000 11 year old boys from around the world, with only a few parents shared my space. Bedlam.
Staff to the rescue. Although the lobby was something out of a Chucky Cheese party gone wild, the staff put me in a clean, quiet room on a distant floor. I slept well and my meeting the next day went great.

My experience was more like a nightmare. I was awakened around 2:00 in the morning with sound of a barking dog. The dog proceed to bark the rest of the night. The next morning when I went to checkout I waited for the desk clerk to ask me how my stay was, but that didn't happen, so I asked her if they allow dogs and she said yes. I asked her when did that start (I stayed at many Sheraton hotels and never Remember seeing dogs there before) She said we always Pet friendly. The women working there said you must have been on the 2nd floor and I said yes. Then they informed me next time I need to request a floor that doesn't have pets. Had I known you allowed pets I would have stayed at a different hotel. Needless to say, I had a hard time concentrating at my assembly because of a lack of sleep. What a waste of money, I should have just driven up Saturday morning.

I stay here a lot on Business trip. This year I started this week and noticed the Platinum lounge's quality has come dowm a lot. They dont have Milk, Bread or any fruits. I told the Management and they dont repond. The quality had come down very much. I have already cancelled two weeks of my trip already. If the quality is like this I am not going to stay here anymore.

I stayed 2 nights at Sheraton Richmond Park south and I truly appreciated the location on Midlothian Tpike which allowed me to drive to my business appointments in no time. In addition, rooms are confortable and spacious.
One thing though, the indoor pool is too close to the restaurant and when kids are playing it becomes very noisy...

In most ways this Sheraton meets expectations, but is not up to its former standard. The rooms are in need of renovation. Our room was clean, but the tub would barely drain and the room temp difficult to control. Also, hallway noise easily enters the room through a large gap at bottom of door. We closed it off with a towel. We were never able to reach room service for dinner, even after going through the front desk. Finally we ventured out in the pouring rain to find a restaurant.

Poor customer service. Poor communication. None of the Management staff will talk to you or return your call and or if you want to meet them personally, they neglect and avoid you. That includes general manager (dennis) reservation managers (neena and Dennese).
Front desk is poorly trained, they never greet you.
