Rated 2 out of 5 by Probably the most strange Starwood property Located at 15th century monastery this hotel has nothing what usually associates with Sheraton brand. Strange that they have English room service menu as nobody speaks English here. Restaurant charges 6,80 euro plus taxes for "bread service" which you didn't order, same with still water. I found a funny chart in my room with prices for extra things: for example: tampons cost 6 euros plus taxes, first aid kit - 12. So, ladies, better, bring your own. And cold, cold, cold... Housekeeper unplugges heating and didn't close windows properly, so temperature in room is quite freezing at December. Nothing to do in area. Who stays here? December 17, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Country charmer not a resort Recently spent 2 nights in a suite at the Santa maria. The hotel has promise if a major renovation is done to bring it up to what would be concidered a resort. IE bathroom (major mildew smell), furnishings etc. It could be a great location. The grounds are nice but with some manicuring could be great. The staff was friendly and accomidating though so no lacking in the service area. If I where Sheraton I would rethink the resort title and consider it a country charmer and a 2 on it star rating. November 17, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Time Travel This property has its charm, but it generally looks and feels like nothing has been changed since the early 1970s. Rooms are spartan and the bathroom is very dated, bar and restaurant are depressing and expensive by local standards. The rates however are usually quite low. The place has its charm, and is very quiet indeed, so rather good to get away from it all, and still within easy access from Barajas Airport. However, a luxurious destination it isn't. It has a very institutional feel, with corresponding levels of service. Not unpleasant, but not an overly friendly environment either. As this was a winter visit the pool was closed, but it didn't look so great, certainly not as good as the pictures would have you believe. Charging EUR 10 for daily parking in such a remote property is not the best welcome. There is a "free" parking on a muddy field. English is not widely spoken outside of reception. April 16, 2012
