Rated 5 out of 5 by Another wonderful trip to Alexandria This is the third time we've stayed at this hotel. The rooms are wonderful. Very clean, comfortable and quiet. Tremendous location. There's a Trader Joe's just down the street and a little farther is a Whole Foods. A new apt building is going up next door and when it's done there will be a Harris-Teeter. I'm excited to see the changes in the neighborhood. We will come back here again. May 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Room and Service Excellent We enjoyed our three night stay at this Sheraton. It is very close to Old Town and a lot of nice dining and shops with great public transportation available. The suite was very comfortable . May 12, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Mother's Guest House ~~ !! Went to visit Mother, who lives in Alexandria House, just opposite this Sheraton Suites. On arrival, the front desk was most helpful in providing a room where I could wave 'goodnight' across the way to her, as well as a refrigerator for meds. Have stayed here previously, and though the hotel is older now, it has remained wonderfully updated and always immaculately clean. Kudos to the staff! So close to Reagan National Airport and just minutes from all the action in Old Town. The Hoof Restaurant is an intimate and welcoming venue for drinks or a meal, and the computer services are exceptional, with every amenity. Even the elevators are fast and reliable. In all, probably the best bang for the buck in Old Town Alexandria . . . thanks, Steve W, for keeping Mother's guest house up to standard!! June 8, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Beautiful room, but shuttle hours don't meet needs This is a beautiful facility. I had a voucher from American Airlines and I got a great room. But the shuttle doesn't start until 6:00 a.m. Since many of the people who stay here need to catch a flight early the next morning, you would expect that the shuttles would run at times that allowed guests to get to the airport at the appropriate time. There were eight guests who needed to get to the airport for a 6:05 am flight and we all had to take cabs. That is ridiculous. Any hotel this close to the airport should run the shuttle to match the flights. April 27, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great, but one little request We enjoyed every component of the hotel. The shuttles to the airport, metro and Old Town were quick, and timely. The staff were outstanding. However, we stayed in Alexandria, as opposed to downtown DC so that we could have a suite as opposed to a single room. Traveling with teen boys, I was hoping for a little privacy. However, the curtains on the doors dividing the rooms were absolutely sheer. I couldn't really make sense of this. Otherwise the stay was wonderful and I have already recommended this to others. Rated 3 out of 5 by Elevators and Air conditioning Our room was clean and compact. One elevator was not in service in hotel. In parking deck under hotel, one evening when we returned during a rainy period, the elevator to the parking deck was out of service too and we had to walk through parking deck up the ramp that cars drive on and through the rain to go into the hotel, Beds were clean and nice as was bathroom and kitchen area. Lobby area very nice and the local shuttle service was SUPERB! April 21, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by A great hotel but be aware We loved the location of this hotel. Right near the river and the close to the centre of Alexandria. Beautiful surroundings and once you get a lay of the area, it's very easy to get to Washington DC. The hotel rooms are small for a family of four but met all our needs. And the facilities in the room are great. We would highly recommend this hotel on this basis. However, we had a terrible experience in the hotel restaurant, to the point we were put off our food and didn't eat it. Service in the restaurant was awful too. So I'd caveate not to use it. We'd also caveate not to use the hotel phone. Having been quoted rates by the front desk we found we were actually charged 6 times that level. As a frequent traveller with work, I'm familiar with hotel phone charges, but these were astronomical even by hotel standards. So I'd suggest using cell phones rather than the hotel phone. Real shame as up to that point the hotel had been brilliant. April 22, 2013
