Rated 4 out of 5 by Honest Staff I was very relieved that an item we left in the room at check out was turned in and returned promptly when I phoned to report it. Not all establishments have such honest employees! We stayed at this hotel to visit Winterthur. It was convenient. Good nearby restaurants. August 25, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by VACATION WE WERE FROM OUT OF TOWN, FIRST TIME IN THE DELAWARE AREA. CALLED HOTEL FOR DIRECTIONS GOT THE BEST PERSON SHE GOT US RIGHT THERE. THE ONLY PROBLEM WE HAD WAS ON THE LAST DAY OF TRIP TOLIET GOT CLOGGED AND WENT ALL OVER BATHROOM. October 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great place to Stay This starwood property is in a great location, great staff, great management, and in all, the best choice for places to stay near Wilmington. Great proximity to the Y, businesses and of course really great service. April 3, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Comfortable Beds I was surprise to see that the bed was so comfortable, I wanted to take it home with me because I slept so well. Also was glad to see that you allowed pets at no additional cost. May 31, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Room 914 Clean the grout in the tub area with bleach and regrout with new grout. It is a little thing but what could be the the difference between a, "WOW", and an, "OK", stay. September 29, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Valentine Sweet! Not so much Everything went ok. First off, the two people at the front desk were arguing amongst each other. You could hear them from a good distance. I was suppose to check in early. However, my room wasn't ready yet. I understand that. However, the next customer came in, and the front person guy checked him right in, then another person. I was up set for a few minutes, but I was calm. Then, I had to change things in my reservation at the front desk. This info should have been changed when I made my reservation. The info I was talking about was NO CHEESE PLATE due to be problems with dairy. However, no one saves that info. When I came in the room, there was cheese in the room. Still wasn't mad. What made me mad was that I always get the Romace Package, and the guy at the desk told me that I have to eat breakfast in my room. I politely told him that I always eat the buffett in the restaurant like alwys. The other person at the front desk was starting to give me an attitude about it. Themn, I left the desk and they finally gave me my coupons. I don't know what the arguement is about, however you can feel the tension coming form both of them. ! This occasion was suppose to be a special night, but it didn't start off like that. I was very disappointted and hurt. Especially form the front desk. I made sure that I didn't have to call them for anything else for the rest of my stay. February 17, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by No air conditioning during a heat wave? There was no air in the hotel when we checked in. The staff didn't seem to care that guests paying hundreds of dollars were living in a sauna. It was "fixed" multiple times but the thermostat in the room never read below 80, which sadly seemed cool in contrast to the hallway which must have been 100 degrees. I have never payed that much for a hotel that didn't give an ounce of comfort. Will think twice before I ever book a room at a Sheradon again. There was also a party in one of the rooms and when the staff FINALLY kicked them out, they allowed the "guests" to hang out inside the lobby and directly outside the door. We felt very unsafe. Rated 2 out of 5 by Issue with my bill I have been staying at the Sheraton, Wilmington for several weeks now. Somehow, I find that the front desk staff are not helpful when it comes to billing related questions. I was charged for an extra day during one of my stays back in april. Since then I have stopped by front desk several times and called them over a dozen times to get the issue fixed. Each time a different person takes my information and says they will get back to me. Only that they never got back to me and I still have not gotten this resolved. I have wasted so much time and effort on this that I have decided to stay at the courtyard across the street in the future. May 7, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by terrible Horrible experience here. I was at this hotel for wedding accommodations (rooms had been blocked off). When I called to confirm my reservation, I asked if there was a shuttle bus to the wedding and was told by the employee that he was not a wedding planner. Took 30 minutes to check-in, was given a sarcastic comment for asking questions. Room was dirty. Bed had stains, couch smelled, chair had stains. Bathroom was dirty, and carpet felt wet everywhere. Called to get a cab to wedding (as told to do so), no one picked up the phone at main desk, and as a result, we were late to the wedding. September 12, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent hotel in centre of Wilmington The staff here were welcoming and very friendly from the start. If you can get a rate to include buffet breakfast, parking and room wifi then this hotel is very easy to deal with. Rooms are comfortable. Persevere with the room keys - they are one of the few weak points! It's good value and the easy parking underground removes all worries about leaving the car in the town centre. June 10, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Hotel with a Great Staff. This hotel is a little old with a surprising number of club floors. The physical plant could use some help, specifically the HVAC. I found parts of the hotel to be cool and then in an adjacent room it would be hot. I set my thermostat at 60 degrees in my room and it was was blowing out air at least ten degrees warmer. The staff is the star here. From the folks in the club lounge, which I got access to as a Gold, to the front desk people to the folks at the restaurant. They make this average Sheraton above average. It's not really located in an interesting neighborhood, but then again I don't think those exist in Wilmington. May 23, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Large room but understaffed The hotel is very well located and the rooms are very large. However on the week end we were there the hotel was understaffed. The front manager did her best but she was visibly overwhelmed. When we arrived in our room, with a reservation for 5, the sofa bed was not made; upon asking for additional linen and towels to accommodate 5 we got rolling eyes (when paying extra for additional people I expect the sofa bed to be made ... we had to make it ourselves). The club floor breakfast is nice but again, understaffed. The guy is doing his best and does it well. Upon departure, the front desk lady barely gave me a word. August 13, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Needs good cleaning - front desk very good The bathroom was a disgrace. There was mold in the bath tub all over. They neglected leaving enough towels for 2 people. The front desk (reception) was helpful and considerate. June 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome getaway weekend The staff was client-centered and the rooms were nicely appointed. The Bistro has a nice menu and was good food with beautiful presentation. Room service was prompt and enjoyable. Our experience was grade A and we will be back again. The hotel sits on the edge of downtown and within walking distance of the trendy Trolley Square area with its great restaurants and bars. And the Brandywine River and walkway is just a few blocks away and feels like another world. December 23, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Missing the mark Tiles in bathroom moldy and falling out. Club room breakfast was closed when it was supposed to be available. June 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Thank you, great service Was stranded in Delaware due to the snowstorm, and checked into the hotel to get out of the snow. The thing that is really impressive about this hotel is just how super nice everyone is! Every single staff we met was amazingly pleasant and friendly. The physical plant is very nice and clean as well. Room is comfortable and spacious, and all hardware is well-maintained. Note the indoor parking only takes cars under 6 ft tall, so if you're driving a full size SUV, you need to find alternatives. Ask the staff for help! By the way, the restaurant Basil is very nice, much better than what I had expected. December 9, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not what I expected The air conditioning was not working. I called and they sent staff who said the chillers were not working the night before, but that it was blowing cold air and I should give it time. The air was cool, but there was not very much coming out and several hours later there was no way to sleep comfortably. The air by middle of the night was blowing warm. The next day they took some $ off the bill, but I had a special rate for staying the two nights that would have brought it to basically the same price, anyway. We decided to check out early as a result and skip the second night. Also, my son said the pull-out was very uncomfortable with a spring in his back and also had a poor night sleep. April 22, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by good location I informed the guest service agent when I made the reservation that I would pay cash for my room upon check in. At check in I had to pay an additional $100 as a deposit, which I was not informed of by the agent. That is something the agent should inform. Housekeeping knocked on my door around 8:45AM. I was not checked out yet. I believe the front desk staff should inform the housekeeping staff of rooms that have checked out & not have them just go to rooms that are still occupied. The location was great for my meetings & the restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful! March 8, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Room and General Staff General staff was awesome but the management was horrible. We ended up paying way past our budget and was threatened the day of the Conference that we could not have it because the hotel decided on their own to swipe my business debit card for the whole amount with informing me. Rated 4 out of 5 by Clifford Brown Jazz Festival Stay My husband and I with friends and family members from different Cities have stayed here every year for the past 10 yrs. for the Clifford Brown Jazz Fest. The venue is in walking distance of the Hotel as well as fine dining. We love the after hours music on the weekend in the Lounge/Rest. The breakfast is first rate as well as the dining. Love the location and the City. With a fleet of foot Policeman we feel so safe walking to and from the venue. Plus a wonderful Park across from the Hotel that I read my morning paper or a good book in before the shows start. Love, love, love the Hotel. May 18, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Don't go here if you have any sort of normal needs. I was here to attend a wedding, I woke up the morning of The wedding to find out the water in the whole building was out. I had to let the groom/groomsmen know (they were about to check into this hotel) and they then went to another hotel to get ready for the wedding. I was extremely frustrated that the water was off for over 4 hours!!! Long story short they just basically told me "things happen". I do not recommend staying at Sheraton hotels. I know I never will again. I stay at a lot of hotels. Never had an experience this bad that was totally ignored by the management. NEVER AGAIN. April 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by It was ok.... I really didn't know where to stay. The bathroom wasn't completely clean everywhere. You can tell that the building has been there or a long time. It took a while to get extra towels, no promptness. Checking in was not inviting, the guy had a bad attitude. Checking out was pleasant but I guess so if you're getting my money. We enjoyed our trip because we are not picky people but I just wanted to let everyone know the truth. Nice hotel overall. I would recommend this hotel it's in the center of everything. Nice view from the room, our daughter enjoyed looking at all the buildings. June 9, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Room set up was disappointing I requested that the sofa bed in the room be set up for my daughters who were traveling with me. The bed was not ready when we arrived, and when housekeeping came to the room, they dropped off the sheets and blankets without making the bed. Making my own bed was something I certainly was not expecting to do. I travel to Wilmington often and usually stay at the Sheraton and recommend it to my staff as well. I will certainly be re-evaluating that decision. May 5, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Shabby, NO AIR CONDITIONING! I reserved two rooms for July 19th in Wilmington, DE. Traveling with my 91 year old mother and another family member for my uncle's funeral. NO air-conditioning with outdoor temperatures of 95 degrees. It was well over 80 degrees in our room. They sent up their "engineer" who told me he was not an engineer, but a "handyman". He had NO idea how to fix it. NO air conditioning in lobby or hallways. We did not sleep, were soaked in sweat and had a miserable experience. Hotel only comped us for one room. Will NEVER stay at a Sheraton again. Staff told me that corporate is "cheap" and will not update hotel beyond cosmetics. Staff was very stressed by their working conditions. Had fans in the lobby so they could work. July 21, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Comfortable room ... Does the rest of the hotel have A/C? I booked this hotel after a sub-par experience at another nearby hotel on a prior trip. Room was very spacious, comfortable, and clean. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Only drawback I noticed was that common areas (lobby, hallways) were very warm and muggy, particularly when it was hot outside, but even when it was cooler. Not sure if the A/C was down or if there was no A/C in common areas. I wasn't a big fan of breaking into a sweat just waiting for the elevator to arrive to take me down to the lobby. Overall, solidly good experience and plan to be back. June 5, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Maintenance Staff Comes Through! Your Maintenance Staff should be complimented for their initiative to help guests with luggage as the Hotel does NOT have a bellboy. Reggie and his partners were excellent and efficient and worked hard. David Lincoln Ross May 22, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by hotel was clean and comformable The Hotel staff were great and met our expectations May 26, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointing Not a favorable experience. Room temperature could not be adjusted leaving environment very warm and uncomfortable. Shower ceiling with water from somewhere else in the building and evidence that this was not the first time it happened given the bulging patch. The TV in the main room would not work and required service but still would not access all channels. Mattress was overly hard making it feel like sleeping on the floor. All of this came at a premium price on the Club floor. I would not recommend staying at this property if you have other options available. April 11, 2013
