Rated 4 out of 5 by Reasonable Stay Rooms are clean and nice. Gym is newly renovated. Would have liked a usable fridge and/or microwave (just minibar). I ordered room services several times. Food was fast, but below expectations (ribs were really poor quality...worst I've had, congee meat yuk, club sandwich ok). Food quality is a definite room for improvement. Suggest manager tries the ribs and sees how poor they are! A mistake was made on my bill (over charged Internet). I called lobby they said I needed to call a daytime staff person who could fix the issue (don't see why need to call and the lobby person couldn't have called to take care of it instead of dragging me into the issue. Better training needed there). They fixed the mistake in the end and apologized. I had a problem with the electronic wake up call. I set the wake up for early, but changed the wake up time to later on. A staff person called me at the earlier time saying that the system shoud have called me and there must be a glitch (so they woke me too early). Aside from the billing issue, the staff is friendly and helpful. Overall this is a clean hotel with the studio suites being renovated. Overall happy with them and I'll stay there again as it served my main need ( a clean quiet night sleep). January 11, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by Great place but beware of the Green option This is another great Sheraton especially the 8th floor lounge which makes it convenient to have small informal meetings through out the night. The pool/water slide was amazing. Be warned however about the Green option they have which is in a form of a door tag to hang on the door outside the room. Once you hang that green option, you are placed on the "do not clean room" list and from that day on, you room will not be cleaned until checkout even if you only have it there for 1 day. on Not knowing this, I had my on the door the first day thinking I would participate every other day for cleaning but on the 2nd day after it was removed, no cleaning was done. After the third day, I called the front desk at 8AM and they told me by placing that on the door once, I had opted for the green option for the entire stay. I told them that is not my understanding and I needed the room clean immediately. The staff said they will send someone to clean the roomBy. That night when I returned to the room late and of course the room was not cleaned. I called room service and they told me that there were no house keeping left. I had to request them bring just extra towels and dump my trash. I am busy enough when I am traveling and really don't extra task of chasing around the hotel staff to keep up the room. So be warned. Do not use those Green door tags until your last few days. April 13, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by What a customer says and what hotel staff choose to hear. As a soon to be life-time Platinum member, I preferentially stay at Sheraton properties often. The Sheraton Cavalier in Calgary has been my 'go-to' property in that city for some time. Sadly, staffing changes sometimes bring a reduction in customer service. My stay at this property was related to our family amassing to celebrate our grandmothers 99th birthday. I made arrangements for both of my sons (22 and 23) to be in Calgary for this occasion. I spent far too much time on the phone with the staff explaining to them that I needed a room with a King size bed and a pull-out sofa bed. When I repeatedly specified this requirement, what the staff kept hearing was "Oh, so you want a suite." What they gave me was a suite with a King size bed and no pull-out sofa. I had to call down for a cot and the staff happily informed me that they would charge me an additional $15 for this - which they did. My experience is that very often Sheraton properties have rooms (not necessarily suites) with pull-out sofa beds. There is so much value in actually listening to what your customers are saying as opposed to jumping ahead of them with what you think they are asking for. This was a disappointing stay that wound up complicating what should have been a very positive celebration for my family and I. I recommend the management at this hotel dialogue with their sister property in Richmond, BC. Now there is a management team that truly knows how to listen to their most loyal customers and execute excellent customer service! Kirby Briggs December 8, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointing Customer Service & Food Check In - After a long day of travel, I checked into the hotel late Sunday evening, expecting a Club Level room as advertised and proven on my reservation confirmation; I had been excited about this reservation as I was not away of any Club Level and after learning about the additional services, was looking forward to it. However, the front desk clerk informed me that my reservation was for a King room, not club level and I was in no mood to argue, though I did mention and show him the reservation inform stated Club Level. Discouraged, I went to my room to rest, already starting my stay in a poor mood. Lobby - The lobby is nicely decorated, a very large open space with lots of seating in the lounge area. The one issue was that access to the elevators from the lobby was narrow and seemed to a gathering area for groups of people, including children carrying over sized hockey bags.. This made it very awkward to pass by them to get to the elevators. Room - The room was nice, lots of space and a good view of the mountains and downtown Calgary skyline. The windows were in tremendous need of cleaning, the outside of them was very dirty, causing no picture of the mountains to actually turn out. Best yet however was a imprint of a child's hand on the window, likely after handling something sticky. I noticed the hand-print on day two of the stay and it was still there when I left 5 days later - completely neglected by cleaning staff. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were far too soft. I asked the front desk on two occasions (once by phone and once in person) for harder foam pillows, but they never arrived. Amenities - The pool was below average. While the facilities were large, they are in need of deep cleaning and repair. The sauna has so many loose boards, you need to be very careful where you step. There is a cafe in the pool area which is very nice, a great incentive for families to stay longer. There were two hot tubs, one however was sectioned off; the other was fine, warming than what I expected; and even though there was a sign not allowing children under 10 in the hot tub, there was a 4 year old with her mother, while 2 staff looked on and did nothing to enforce the rule. I was not able to relax in the pool area at all, it is certainly catered towards families experience and not relaxation. Restaurant - The breakfast restaurant, Colors, was a big disappointment. I tried it on two occasions, once for the Eggs Benedict which I did not enjoy, the eggs were over cooked, potatoes undercooked, and the Hollandaise sauce was made from a powder, not from scratch. I tried it again a few days later for their buffet but was disgusted by the grease level in every warm item they served. I opted for fresh fruit from the local market instead of breakfasts at this location. I did not try Carvers, their steakhouse onsite, after hearing Room Service - I managed to get a couple orders of room service in during study periods of my stay. I would say that the deserts were fantastic, and the entrees are not worth the money. I have attached pictures of the orders. Their Chocolate Mousse Torte was great, rich and light; baked apple pie was good; the chicken breast was small and over cooked; the bruschetta was overcooked and hard, the tomatoe topping was heavily salted for some ready, but the roasted garlic was a great touch.
