Rated 3 out of 5 by No hot water but compensated This hotel was clean and comfortable. The only problem (and it's a big one in my book) is that there was no hot water the morning of my departure. Presumably this is an unusual event, and the hotel compensated me for this inconvenience so I applaud their doing the right thing. March 20, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Needs improvement Level of service is not at par with other Sheraton brand hotels. I travel all over US and this is by far the lowest in service and value. In my last two stays in one month the fixtures in the bathroom does not work. They have to seriously make efforts to improve their service and facility. July 18, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by room needed cleaning sheets and comforter had stains -- blood on sheets (?); something else on comforter -- make up (?) room needed vacuuming repairs were needed to walls, outlets were hanging, wall paper hanging, gauges in walls bathroom sink very dirty, dusty on rims, mold in overflow, crud around faucet February 25, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Needs an Update - Rundown We stayed here for two nights and the room was pretty scuzzy - one of the phones didn't work, the thermostat had broken buttons and the hallway smelled. Not something I would expect from a Sheraton and at the rate we paid. I don't think we will be back. The staff was very nice though. November 15, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by A comfortable stay in a good location. A comfortable stay in a good location. Staff members were very helpful and responsive. I only stayed 1 night, but would recommend it to any business traveller passing through University City. June 3, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great location The Sheraton in University City is located next to the University Of Pennsylvania, Drexel and Temple Universities. Near restaurants, shopping and local attractions. The hotel is very clean, lobby is nice and staff is very accommodating and friendly. April 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very happy with this hotel I was stranded in Philly as my mom got sick at the airport. The only good part of this trip was the hotel. Clean, comfy, convenient. Staff friendly and helpful. Loved the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast. I would stay there again and would recommend to anyone March 16, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by cold shower blahs the good part- complimentary coffee. the bad part- cold shower water and no pressure equals very bad hair day! we were on the 14th floor. June 17, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Temperature of the meeting rooms in the basement It was way too cold and the only way to warm the room was to leave the door open which was far from ideal. Otherwise the accommodation was fine although somewhere to sit and have a drink would have been nice rather than having to transport stuff from the bar to the lobby. October 22, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by this hotel was ok, This hotel was ok, except parking prices were too much. Guest should be charged one flat rate. Front desk service was fair. One agent just checks you in , while others explain to guest about area, parking, keys etc.. when asked to explain you hear attitude in their voice. October 31, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Collaboration and customer service I was particularly impressed by everyone stepping up. for example, when I needed to check my luggage and there was no bell captain, someone from the desk assisted. In addition, when I went to retrieve the luggage, a housekeeper jumped to help me. Great customer service. September 24, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Thank you Sheraton University City Hotel was as expected great. Several employees made a difference during our stay. Evan & Ruben were friendly throughout my stay. Theresa and Sanjay in the concierge lounge were always accommodating even when busy. Our families expectations were exceeded during our stay. September 4, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Lobby is awful this hotel has zero curb appeal. looks like a tourist level hotel. the lobby needs a serious makeover. room was comfortable. the sheraton located near waterfront was a much better property. May 26, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by IGNORANT STAFF THE DAY I STAYED HERE WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE THAT I EVER WENT THROUGH. FIRST THE ROOM TEMPERATURE THERMOMETER WAS BROKEN AND WAS SO HOT AND UNCOMFORTABLE IN THE ROOM, FOR THAT PRICE IT SHOULD BE WELL AIR CONDITIONED. AS I WAS LEAVING I LEFT MY PARKING TICKET IN THE ROOM AND TRIED TO TO THE GATE PERSON TO UNDERSTAND MY SITUATION WHICH WAS FALLING ASLEEP AT THE TIME HAD TO WAKE HIM UP HE GAVE ME THE WORSE ATTITUDE EVER AND THEN MADE ME GO TO THE DESK AND THE HOSTESS WAS ACTING LIKE SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. SHE STATED SHE HAD GIVEN ME THE PASS BY ACCIDENT AND SHE DID NOT CHARGE ME FOR IT WHEN SHE SAID SHE DID WHEN I HAVE GOT THE ROOM. SHE WAS GETTING FRUSTRATED WITH ME BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO EXPLAIN MY SITUATION SHE CUT ME OFF NUMEROUS OF TIMES AND IT JUST MADE MATTERS WORSE FOR ME. SO FOR HER MISTAKES I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR IT. ON TOP OF THAT HER MANAGER HAVE HEARD HER SAY THAT SHE GAVE ME THE PARKING PASS BY MISTAKE AND DID NOT CONSULT HER OR TREAT ME AS AN SPF MEMBER I FELT DISRESPECTED AND THEY DID NOT CARE OF TAKING CARE OF ME AS A COSTUMER. I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN...... May 28, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by nice hotel great location; had bad experience with hotel concierge- not very friendly and not eager to answer any questions, directions given were vague and not very helpful; also housekeeping staff was annoyed when we asked for an extra coffee. rest of staff was great. Rated 4 out of 5 by Very nice hotel A very nice hotel. Staff is very friendly . Rooms are nice but beds are lumpy and covers were either too light or too heavy, nothing in between . Also lots of noises during the night, like humming and other rooms using the bathroom. Also a little overpriced. August 19, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Poor staff The staff was not as professional as other hotels I've stayed at, especially the cleaning crew were in need of how to behave in public areas. 4 cleaning people were hanging out by the elevator talking gossip and swearing while I was waiting for an elevator. Rated 5 out of 5 by Staff was excellent Facility and location great but the staff was excellent-from the front desk to the restaurant all went above and beyond. Vincent at Front Desk was willing to turn the world upside down to help us get our laptop running/connected to meet a work deadline. March 3, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by So loud I got into the Sheraton late on a Monday evening. I got checked in fairly quickly (although the desk attendant forgot to give me the parking ticket I requested) and went up to the room. The room was fine except the bedding was all messed up. It looked like someone had slept there. So I called down to the front desk to tell them and they told me they'd give me a different room. So I pick up all my stuff and go back down to the lobby. They were apologetic, and moved me to another room, but they only had handicapped rooms left so that was a little weird (no shower doors, so water kind of gets all over the place). By now it is roughly 11pm. I am exhausted and have a conference starting early the next day. I go to bed, only to discover that the heat/cool system is the loudest thing in the world (and if I turn it off, it's too hot). It comes on roughly every 10 minutes. The toilet was also running every half hour or so all night, which was surprisingly loud. I got almost no sleep. Given the price of the hotel, you'd think they could do better. March 20, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Sluggish Staff Response In general, the hotel is very nice, but the sink was extremely sluggish in draining. I spoke with a front desk representative and was told it would be taken care of. It was not. May 15, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Dining facility a disappointment... Hotel accommocations are good, but plan to eat outside the hotel....the facility restaurant leaves something to be desired. No way you can plan breakfast and get on time...service was awful...almost an hour to get toast and coffee. February 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by University Proximitry This hotel was very close to both Drexel University and Penn University. Cab rides to local attractions such as the zoo was also minimal ($10 included generous tip). The hotel and room was very clean. All staff was accomodating and helpful. October 20, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Room looks dated. Specifically, the bathroom fixtures & toilet need to be updated. Drain was slow and needed to be unclogged. June 10, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by It was fine The hotel is not a new property, but it has been well maintained. The staff was very friendly, the lobby was quite comfortable to meet people. Did not try the restaurant but it was always very busy, usually with a wait list so seemed good. March 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by one suggestion Excellent hotel and staff. Just one suggestion, there should be a clear sign in all elevators stating that the elevator does not go to the garage, even though there are buttons to push for the garage. It was very confusing to many people. October 31, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Expensive and shabby Charges $25 a night for parking. View of parking lot. Doesn't have its own restaurant facilities. Location for university good and staff very helpful. This a very average 'no frills' hotel. There was a small fridge with nothing in it. January 14, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by June 2013 Stay The bathroom had very little counter space - which I could live with but would prefer more space. What I couldn't tolerate was the complete unfriendliness of the staff. There wasn't a single person that was friendlyh or even courtesous. June 14, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great suites. Booked two rooms - one on Points and one prepaid. When I arrived, I learned I had gotten upgrades to large suites on the Club Floor for both rooms. Only negative was that there was no breakfast in the Club Lounge on July 4 holiday. July 6, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great location Nice clean hotel with friendly staff located near Drexel University and University of Pennsylvania. Club Floor is worth the extra expense as it is very convenient. I would have no trouble recommending this Sheraton Hotel. February 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great staff This is my No 1 choice of hotels in Philadelphia. Its appointments are plush (for me), its location is perfect (Drexel U.) and the desk staff are superb (Tammy and Chris). I am very disappointed when I cannot get a reservation. August 22, 2013
