Rated 3 out of 5 by SadBeijinger Sad to see this grand property fade
I have stayed at this property dozens of times over the past 20 years. It has always been the GRAND DAME of Beijing. Exquisite, calm, understated elegance. I returned after an absence of just 2 years. .OMG. .This grand dame has become a tired OLD LADY. It is now filled with domestic tour groups. . .Breakfast feels like you are at the Beijing Railway station . .complete with people screaming into their mobile phones and barking at the staff. The rooms have become tired and stale. There's broken glass mirrors in the elevator. . .SO SO SAD to see SUCH extreme brand destruction. At the same time, I note the rates are also way down and this property is now cheaper than many of the newer 5 star properties in town. . . Sad to see the demise of such a venerable property. . I suppose At least I have my fond memories . . .

Rated 5 out of 5 by BrettHamptons Great Stay
Where to begin...this hotel is fantastic for many reasons: 1. the service is outstanding; 2. The staff speak very good English and offer maps and taxi driver directions in both English and Mandarin so getting around town is much easier; 3. The business lounge happy hour is a great way to unwind after the business day; 4. You get free access to the gym and pool which I highly recommend; and 5. just stay here, you won't regret it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WorldTraveler73 Superb Rooms, Staff and Dining
Rooms are nicely appointed with every amenity and large in size. Staff is extremely friendly and eager to please. Dining is superb, especially the breakfast buffet and Cantonese dim sum restaurant. The lobby lounge is also a terrific place for coffee, tea or drinks, and the pastry shop is great

Rated 5 out of 5 by USboston2014 high quality, great location
Definitely deserves its 5 stars in Beijing. Very nice guest rooms, public areas, and restaurants. It has a helpful, attentive staff. Tastefully furnished, nothing looked worn or out of date. Breakfast buffet is typical for a 5 star in Beijing, with many Western and Chinese options, egg station, pancake station, etc. The free happy hour with free food and drinks each evening in the executive lounge is very popular with guests. Very convenient to public transportation and local attractions. Walkable to restaurants, fast food, and the silk street market.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Laurentakl First St Regis in Beijing
nice hotel room, but the outside is not quite to the standard of other St Regis hotels in Asia.
No late check-out later than 4pm for Platinum is clearly unacceptable, and even more to charge a half day for that ! (Full day was requested when demand was made).
Almost impossible to get a taxi, very troublesome when having appointments. Westin Chaoyang for example has taxis all the time !

Rated 5 out of 5 by TMari11 Awesome place and excellent service!
Everything about our stay was top notch. Service was excellent! Check in was quick and concierge was great in giving us directions and arranging for activities! Location was good. Amenities are what you would expect at a St. Regis. Definitely a great place to stay in Beijing!
