This is a beautiful hotel located perfectly. The rooms are elegant. The minimalist design is calming. The spa is thoroughly enjoyable.
The trouble is that there are thousands of people in the lobby, in the bar, in the restaurant, etc. It's almost too perfectly located so, whenever there's a convention at Moscone, it feels like they all come back to the St. Regis for a drink.
Naturally, with such a crush of people, service suffers. If you want to stay in a Starwood Property in SF, try the Westin St. Francis in Union Square.

The decor and overall feeling of the rooms is very good. Entrance, bar, and restuaraunt make the hotel feel very busy and overcrowded. This hotel sits on 3rd and Mission right off the highway entrance/exit. Hotel is not soundproof like other St Regis, so you can hear road noise from 5am to 12am. Only 5 hours where things arent noisy unless there is an emergency and the trucks run right past. The staff wasnt very helpful when I asked to be moved and put me in a room off of the elevators, so you get the constant dinging of the doors. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this hotel and I stay over 150 nights a year in hotels.

As we live in So.Cal. we like to escape for Christmas to San Francisco. It's cooler, but not cold, and very festive. We hadn't stayed at St. Regis before and decided to try it. Although it had everything we wanted, it didn't look too cozy. How deceptive photos can be. It was warm and welcoming with a staff that really did exceed any expectations we had. We went out every day and couldn't wait to come "home" to the St. Regis. Bar was elegant but very comfortable and the staff were thoughtful and helpful. Our room was a delight. Had everything we needed and more. We had a very delicious Christmas dinner in the restaurant. Our breakfast was a daily treat with lots of excellent choices. This is an exceptional hotel, never pretentious, and definitely worth visiting.

St. Regis is a fine hotel, but especially considering the price of the room, why isn't a coffeemaker and coffee included? Or a newspaper at the room door in the morning? These are all standard at lower priced hotels.

I've been staying at the St. Regis for business trips for the past two years and have not been disappointed at all. The staff is extremely friendly and hospitable, the facilities always kept clean, and the experience nothing short of amazing. I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to stay during their time in San Francisco.

Craig at the front desk is amazing. He always makes me feel at home at the St Regis in SF. He goes out of his way and above and beyond to ensure that my personal and business needs are met. He is the reason why I am so loyal to the hotel and why I refer so many colleagues there as well.

Stayed at this property during the Dreamforce event and I must say I was blown away. As an SPG Ambassador with over 160+ stays a year I've always been spoiled across the country by SPG hotels (with a few exceptions of course), but I must say this has been the most enjoyable stay I've had yet. This was my first time at the property, but the professionalism and courteous nature of the staff was unparalleled, while the comfort and cleanliness of the rooms and property was un-matched. I definitely recommend this hotel for any type of stay when you in the San Francisco area because they've won my business and heart.

My wife and I came to the st. Regis for 2 nights back in June. We were traveling with our twin 10 month old boys. The staff welcomed us warmly, had cribs, extra refrigerators, and essentials all set for us and even had welcome bags for the boys with teddy bears and little travel bags. We ate every morning in the restaurant and the staff was awesome, they treated my little guys like little men and were accommodating in every way. Even building a new high chair because the others were broken. Typically restaraunts of that caliber frown on babies let alone twin boys only accompanied by dad, not here though....By far the best hotel and travel experience my new family and I have had. Now because of this St. Regis when we are in a town with a St Regis we will only stay there. Thank you for taking service so seriously and perfecting it!

I love staying at the St. Regis - exceptional customer service, lavish and modern furnishings and rooms that transport you to another dimension of luxury and comfort!
My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the St. Regis in Kauai last year, and decided we would spend our 1-year anniversary at the St. Regis in San Francisco. Our fairytale weekend started the second we pulled up at the valet in front of the hotel. From that second on, we were treated like royalty! We truly appreciated being greeted in our room by a lovely bottle of champagne, compliments of the hotel!
Thank you St. Regis for helping us to forge unforgettable memories for a lifetime!
My only complaint about staying at the St. Regis? They make it REALLY difficulty to come back to reality after you check out!

I booked an Astor Sutie using our Suite Night award. We arrived mid-day, and had to wait 4.5 hours for a room - that's ok, it happens, but the staff was confused about when the room would be ready, so we spent over two of those hours in the lobby rather than shopping. The butler service verged on annoying. They explained everything to us three times, but forgot to send our luggage up. After such a long wait, having to call down again and have them be consfused about luggage was truly annoying.
In the morning, I called down for a 4PM checkout only to be told that the hotel was fully booked so it wouldn't be possible. Since this same front desk agent had made me wait until well after 4 the previous day to check in, I was more than annoyed that she wouldn't honor my platinum benefits. After a small argument, she relented, but it mars the experience to have to bicker with the staff about expected benefits.

We stayed at this hotel during one of our many visits to San Fran.
This is a very beautiful hotel and next to many museums and great attractions.
We got upgraded to a corner junior suite with a very large bathroom. Beautiful room details.
If you can, stay at this place at least once. You will notice the elegance of this place.

My husband & I not only spent Christmas at the St Regis but we also celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. Everything was outstanding, from our check in to check out. Prior to arriving, we contacted the concierge, Mariah, for information on nice places to eat. She was not only informational but went out of her way to find what we were looking for. Our room was lovely, first class, and the view of the city (other than the construction on other buildings) was beautiful. The bellmen were very helpful and courteous, the desk staff never forgot our names and even the cleaning staff was "over the top". This hotel is a must for a stay in San Francisco!

I have been a Starwood member and Platinum member for many years so have had the good fortune to experience many Starwood properties. I stayed at this St. Regis every week for months on end for business. At no other hotel before and since have I felt more welcomed and comfortable than at the St. Regis. The warm and tireless staff made every stay a treat for this nomad. I would unequivocally recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a beautiful place to rest in the heart of San Francisco. The staff and hotel are meticulous in every way.

This was another incredible trip to San Francisco and staying at the St. Regis makes our visits so special. The Hotel is ideally located, the rooms are well appointed, clean and incredibly comfortable. The staff are always friendly and accommodating.The Bar has a great ambiance and drinks are hand crafted. Room service and Restaurant serve delicious food. I could not think of staying at another Hotel in the City.

The Regis San Francisco has many lovely aspects but I found the room to be uncomfortable. The lighting was very dim and I could not read in bed. Housekeeping was kind enough to increase one of the bulbs by the chair near the bed but this chair had no arms or no ottoman so it was very uncomfortable. Many travellers--business or otherwise--need good lighting and seating for their reading. I also found the bed mattress to be pretty soft and used. The staff however were excellent and said I could be moved but I chose to change hotels. The bathroom was lovely as was the breakfast restaurant.

The channel assigned to ESPN was blank, no signal.. ESPN2 had interference. The digital signal had squares all over it.

Spent many great nights in St. Regis properties worldwide and hoped to enjoy the New Year with my family at the St. Regis San Franciso. The personnel (outside managment) are what you would expect however the facilities and food are less than desirable. One of the most expensive meals we had during our trip was Room Service New Years Eve and it was horrible. I asked to speak with the manager regarding this matter and after many transfers and many minutes on hold all the manager said was sorry. Showers do not have pressure nor is there any room to move within the bathroom and I stayed in a suite.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights on a leisure trip and were bowled over by the service. As a Gold I was upgraded to a larger room, which was unexpected but welcomed. The front desk, butler and housekeeping staff were all attentive without being intrusive and ensured that our stay was pitch perfect.
The bar and lounge on the bottom floor was fantastic for relaxing, reading the paper, having a cocktail and for general downtime.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel if you're looking for a five-star hotel in a prime location with gracious service.

During check-in, was told that I am upgraded to "Metropolitan Suite," but when I actually got to the room, I found that I was given Astor Suite. It was already 8pm and I was too tired to call the front desk. Otherwise an okay property.

The hotel is nicely done in a contemporary design and is fairly new. The reservation desk was very helpful. She was going to give us a standard room but took it a step farther to give us a suite for our anniversary. That is great customer service. After you check in the butler walks you to your room describing the hotel and room amenities. The room was fantastic with a great view as a corner room. Light and shades can be operated with a master control in the bedroom. The Regis hotel takes it to the next level in service. Room service was excellent and to top off our stay, they provided an anniversary cake. The hotel is close to shopping and a few museums. The doorman was friendly and helpful. Had a wonderful time. We may have to make this an annual event.

We can think of no more luxurious way to celebrate our wedding anniversary each year than enjoying that evening at the San Francisco Saint Regis Hotel. From our arrival, we are made to feel special by all the personnel who greet us. Being Gold members, we were offered a room upgrade to deluxe with a beautiful city view and extended our check out to 4 pm. Shortly after we arrived in our room, we received a surprise anniversary gift with Happy Anniversary greetings. The Hotel Bentley drove us to our evening restaurant complimentary. The next morning, we enjoyed white glove breakfast service in our room. We really appreciate the outstanding service we receive on our visits. We always hate to leave and really look forward to coming back.
