Rated 5 out of 5 by nikolay83 Amazing hotel, service, staff, and location
This was one of the most luxurious and relaxing stays I have had. I traveled with two of my friends and originally we planned to make several excursions and tours while staying here but as soon as we entered the premises of the hotel and were escorted to our Beachfront Grand Suite (as a Platinum member, I was upgraded to the Grand Suite, over 1,500 sq. ft., absolutely gorgeous bedroom, living room, oversize bathroom and shower, and huge patio with separate sitting and dining areas and a day-bed, 10 steps from the beach, just unbelievably amazing) we abandoned most of our tour plans and instead decided to enjoy the hotel and surroundings. The hotel is located right next to one of the best spots in the world for kite surfing (about 10-15 min by walking), so we took kite surfing lessons and felt in love with that sport activity. It is also right next to the Le Morne mountain, so we took a half-day hiking tour on top (warning, it is actually more climbing than hiking, so be prepared for a truly strenuous activity and dress appropriately). Hiking was totally worth the effort as views from the top were just spectacular, paradise-like. As for dining, we ate mostly at the hotel because there were no restaurant options right outside the hotel and we did not have a car. I found food delicious and not too overpriced (given that it's St Regis, food was actually reasonably priced). Breakfast was very good with plenty of options for typical American and European breakfasts, Asian food, some cold cuts for meat and fish, fresh juices, and a lot of fruits. The hotel also has water sport section, which we used numerous times to get paddle boats, kayaks, water skis, took a snorkeling excursion, etc.; all water sport activity is complimentary. They also have a really nice movie theater, game center, and a library. We did not really use those facilities, but we did use spa facilities on several occasions to warm up our sore muscles from kite surfing in steam room, dry sauna, and jacuzzi. We had to reserve spots in spa in advance as max 6 guests were allowed in one time. I also took few massage treatments and was very much satisfied. For the nightlife, we took a taxi to La Gaulette, not too far from the hotel. Staff was very helpful and friendly. One feature that I really liked is that I could use WhatsApp to send service requests (like I need more towels, or shampoo, or wine glass, or hangers, or room service) and the requests were acted upon very quickly. I found that very convenient. Overall, I really like my stay here and I am definitely coming back for more memories from this place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 19goosey Superb hotel ...
I cannot praise this hotel & its staff enough. This was my 2nd visit & I was just as impressed as I was on my first. I received a complimentary upgrade to a Grand Suite which was sublime. The staff are superb - always approachable, friendly & nothing too much trouble. The resort has so much to offer in terms of location, beach, facilities and the atmosphere is so relaxed I never wanted to leave. Thank you to everyone at the St Regis Mauritius for making my stay so perfect once again.

We have just finished a very long stay at the St. Regis Mauritius. As a family with teenagers we are in the process of a long travel this year and we intended to stay a few weeks there, but we felt so good at this hotel in every aspect that we extended our stay several times.
It’s hard to do this review without mentioning names of the excellent staff but by mentioning a few names we would do the rest short, so no names in this review.
This hotel is definitely well managed. From the Senior Butler to the Beachboy teams, from the reception to the entertainment team, from kitchen to waiters, all have a very good structure in place with daily shift meetings, space for special guest requests and motivation to learn the habits of the guests to exceed expectations.
All the staff we met had a strong balance between delivering the service that fit’s a St. Regis and exceptional general human kindness. In fact the human kindness factor all over the place is probably what appealed most of all to us. It’s more than correct behavior and polite conversations. We felt is as genuinely “warm”.
I’ll summarize our experience on some key subjects:
Location: 10 out of 10 for us.
Probably one of the best beaches in Mauritius. The hotel has a very long stretch of direct beachfront beach, bordered by a green, well maintained garden. View is over a beautiful lagoon, and in some distance the One Eye coral reef where (massive) waves break. Meters from the beach already snorkeling is great as there are many tropical fishes. Water is not troubled as on some other beaches and sea urchins, that can be a problem elsewhere, are limited. Behind the hotel the huge Brabant Le Morne rock is a beautiful setting at day and at night. Weather seems to be way above average on Le Morne peninsula compared to other parts of Mauritius, as the mountains block much rain brought by mainly south-east wind. The south of Mauritius appealed to us as there is so much nature to see, aside from the lagoon, beach and Ocean. Tradeoff to this natural surroundings might be for some night live lovers that they will be disappointed about what goes on after midnight.
The SE wind is side-offshore on the beach which means that you can use the beach without too much wind, yet the view on the One Eye reef in the distance and the windsurfers and kiters around the corner connects you to all surf action if you’re into that.
Activities: 10 out of 10 for us.
All the sports we care for (surfing, kitesurfing, snorkeling, diving, horse-riding) can be exercised directly from the hotel, which is great. Wavekiting is worldclass when SE wind and SW swell rolls in. Some not-obvious activities are free of charge such as SUP, Kayaks, Sailing and Wakeboarding. The best Dolphin swimming trips we have done at sunrise outside the reef right in front of the hotel.
Rooms: 8 out of 10 for us.
Almost all rooms see the ocean, they are spacious, clean and in our opinion tastefully decorated.
Food: 10 out 10 for us.
The Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef are top class. All restaurants offer a good variety of fresh food, the hygiene in the food preparation is flawless. The chefs table experience is recommended, it offers the chefs the possibility to demonstrate their skills, which are definitely Michelin star level.
One of our children eats gluten free, and the extra work they went through to make fresh gluten free pasta, bread, even fudgy chocolate cakes is way above our other experiences at 5 star hotels.
As there are not many restaurants nearby it might be wise to go for halfboard (or even fullboard).
Entertainment: 10 out of 10 for us.
The entertainment team of 5 members selects nice live bands, organizes activities for all ages and is available all day to play with children inside and outside. Our kids love them all 5, they became real friends for us and this team is one of the reasons we will visit this hotel again. I cannot comment on the kids club for smaller kids, we did not use this.
Facilities: 9 out of 10 for us.
The gym and Spa are well equipped and the staff is professional and good at their expertise’s. There is one tennis court with lighting. The main pool is big and nice. Enough sunbeds are available at the pool and on the beach, on the beach normally only a front row and where the beach is wider never more than 2 rows.
