Rated 4 out of 5 by An Excellent Hotel, But is Missing One Important Factor - A Good Location The St Regis Roma is a beautiful hotel. From the minute you walk through the doors you are mesmerized by its stunning lobby. Here is some information to help you decide to stay here or not: Starwood Recognition: Outstanding! Junior suite upgrade using suite nights. Full breakfast option for platinum members. Token gifts delivered every night (wine, chocolate, candy, etc). Free Wifi for platinum members. Customer Service: Outstanding! From the moment you arrive you are treated like royalty. Check in flawless, maid service excellent, butler service was attentive, door man was a very helpful, bar and restaurant services first class. Room: Our hotel room (342) was beautiful. Rain shower, soaking tub, double sink, and luxury towels and bath products. Cool B&O televisions and striking Milano chandlers added to the experience. Our junior suite was great for entertaining guests for afternoon coffee or pre-dinner drinks. There was a nice outdoor patio area with but was not useable due to cool weather. The Lobby: Stunning! I need to make a special mention about the beautiful hotel lobby. Please make sure to use it during your stay. There is a special champagne ceremony each night at 7:00pm along with a great pianist. There is free Wifi. Location: Poor! This is where I disagree with more trip advisor reviews. The hotel is located on a very busy one way street that is noisy and difficult to cross. Other than the Termini and the Republica Metro Stop, there is nothing close to the hotel. If you want to do anything, even just get some good food, you will have to take the metro, train, or taxi to find it. The hotel has one of the poorest locations for a luxury hotel I have seen. In my opinion, one of the most important rules when picking a vacation hotel is it's location. In Rome it is very important to be in the right neighborhood like Via Veneto or Spanish Steps to enjoy the city within a short few days. To provide you with an example of the nondescript area of the hotel, they close their restaurant during the winter months due to low attendance. You are forced to eat in the lobby, bar, or your hotel room. Therefore, the bar scene was pretty much non-existent except for a few other business travelers grabbing a bite to eat in the lobby/lounge. There is nothing there! Overall, this is a beautiful five star hotel with the best of ALMOST everything, However, the location of a hotel is an important consideration when planning your trip. So if you're traveling to Rome on vacation you may want to stay at a hotel with a location with great shops and restaurants within steps of its front door. February 22, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Almost everything was perfect The location is fantastic, a short walk from some very picturesque locations in Rome. Getting to the hotel from the airport at times of heavy traffic by using the train and its stop at nearby Termini is very welcome. The decor of the hotel is above reproach. The only mark against the hotel was that the hot water just wasn't that hot. Both of us staying at the St. Regis on this trip enjoy a truly hot shower, and after even 10 minutes, the water at its very hottest setting was warm enough not to be uncomfortable, but definitely nothing like hot. We asked, someone came up and made adjustments, and it was somewhat warmer afterward, still not hot. Without that hitch, the hotel would have received top marks from me. November 16, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Anniversary I want to thank the exceptional staff of The St. Regis, for making our 30th anniversary one to remember. The moment I checked in with Cecelia, (outstanding from day 1), I knew I had made the right decision to stay at The St. Regis. A bottle of wine, bread & cheese in the salon, while we were upgraded to a suite just added to the splendor. A bottle of champagne arrived from the Manager to celebrate our special evening and it served as the perfect ending after our long travels from the States. Tickets to Florence on the train, or a driver to port of Civitavecchia or a suggestion for dinner was not a problem through our Concierge...Every need, want or request for our 5 days in Rome was handled with excellence in service and graciousness, provided effortlessly and may I say sadly missing from other hotels. Rated 2 out of 5 by St. Regis disappoints in Rome I have been fortunate to stay in many of the top hotels in Italy including the Excelsior in Rome and the Westin Europa in Venice and enjoyed both of those hotels very much. I was ; however; disappointed with the treatment that I received in Rome at The St. Regis on December 1st, 2011. The gentleman who checked us in was very pleasant and accommodating, and the concierge was helpful, yet somewhat condescending. The maid came to refresh our room and did not replace the towels or the water and that left us short in the morning. The older fellow who checked me out made me feel like a second class citizen and really should NOT be dealing with the public .....a disappointing experience. December 5, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by la dolce vita Upon my arrival we were greeted by a knowledgeable and gracious staff. We were upgraded to a beautiful spacious suite, with every amenity present in perfect taste... a fluffy robe, a king size bed... The hotel proposed us a suite with a beautiful view on the piazza dell'Esedra, but we have requested and obtained immediately an inner suite so that we could sleep longer in the morning. The room was very tastefully decorated with a bed that made sleeping a dream. Staff was helpful efficinet and courteous. Breakfast was outstanding. We spent in St Regis Rome a week of Dolce Vita December 12, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Confused at the front desk Overall the service was very nice, as was the room. Because of Starwood status was upgraded to butler service floor. However, there seemed to be some confusion on whether we had the butler service. We were charged for some items included in it and not for others we used. January 7, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Memorable Stay !!! From the moment we arrived at the St. Regis to when we left, we were warmly treated by the courteous and professional staff at the St. Regis Rome. I appreciated the Platinum recognition upon arrival, the upgraded room we were offered, the special birthday cake delivered to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday, the helpful concierge staff, our attentive butler, and the sumptuous buffet breakfast. Truly remarkable service and accommodations. What a memorable stay! Thank you for helping create such a beautiful memory to reflect upon! March 19, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best of the Best Signor Falcone and his team provided nonstop VIP treatment to my wife and me during our 5-night stay at The St. Regis Rome. They helped make our time in the Eternal City most enjoyable and comfortable. Signor Falcone is one of the finest GMs I've encountered during my many stays at both Starwood and other properties, throughout my many years of domestic and international travels. Grazie mille!
