Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, is a diverse cultural hybrid and pulsing metropolis. The Westin Kuala Lumpur is located along the vibrant Jalan Bukit Bintang, in the heart of the city’s central business district (CBD) and shopping district. Entertainment and attractions are just steps away. Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) is 76 kilometers from our hotel, and the Kuala Lumpur Sentral railway station is only ten kilometers away.
Two of the world’s tallest buildings, the Petronas Twin Towers, are located just five minutes from the hotel. Elevate your senses and head to the observation deck of the nearby Kuala Lumpur Tower to see captivating city views. Learn about Malaysia’s history and arts, and admire reconstructed sections of ancient palaces at the National Museum. The museum is situated in Lake Gardens, which is also home to the National Planetarium. Other nearby museums include the Royal Malaysian Police Museum and the Islamic Arts Museum. Also intriguing are the wonderful detailed motifs and tile work at the National Mosque. More history can be found along Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, a street lined with interesting architecture featuring Gothic accents; the National History Museum, which is housed in a former bank; and the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, the Big Ben of Kuala Lumpur. Or take a short excursion to see the ancient limestone caves and temples at Batu Caves.
This metropolis is an international shopping destination. Vendors on bustling Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown, sell everything from clothing and handbags to perfumes and watches. There is also plenty of street food to sample and help you re-energize. The arts, entertainment, and shopping area of Golden Triangle is another favorite destination. You can also stroll down Asia Heritage Row, an historic street lined with refurbished buildings and homes. Though traditionally a food market, Central Market is also populated by painters, sculptors, fortune-tellers, and merchants offering curios, collectibles, and art.
