Not known as one of the "hip" neighborhoods of Tokyo, Sendagi is more about the locals than it is glitz and glamor. However, this is where Akira is found amongst regular people who pop out for a good bite to eat casually dressed with no fuss or muss who just want a good meal. That is what Akira offers. With a seated counter service for about 10, the concept is simply tasty. Set meals include tempura, sashimi and a fish of the day with some rice, soup and pickles to taste. Dinner can be ordered a la carte, and there is room upstairs for small groups. Akira knows what it is doing having been around since the Taisho period (roughly 1912-1926).
