Surrounded by mountains and meandering rivers, Wenzhou is a harbour city located on the southeastern coast of China’s Zhejiang Province. Also known as Yongjia, the city has a rich history dating back thousands of years. The Westin Wenzhou—located in the downtown area, at the intersection of two major roads, and near the city’s largest park—offers easy access to both commercial areas and renowned sites. We’re also just 19 kilometres from Wenzhou Yongqiang Airport (WNZ).
Begin your stay with an energizing visit to one of China’s top ten mountains, Yandang Mountain. This UNESCO World Geopark features magnificent peaks, waterfalls, and caves, and comprises eight scenic areas spread out over 450 kilometres. The three most popular areas include: Spiritual Peaks, Big Dragon Waterfall, and Spiritual Rocks. Adjacent to the mountain, Nanxi River is praised for its calm waters and ancient villages, which are hidden amongst dense forest. Explore the area’s nature further at Wuyanling National Nature Reserve or Baizhang and Feiyun Lake Scenic Area. The latter is also the hometown of the famous Ming Dynasty general Lui Ji. For a taste of the sea, head to the UNESCO Marine Nature Reserve on Nanji Island. Or, take a scenic ferry ride along the Oujiang River to Jiangxin Island, home to a picturesque park, temple, pagoda, and pavilions.
Alternatively, take advantage of the scenic landscape with a round of golf at the Orient (Wenzhou) Country Club, which is tucked away at the top of a mountain range in the central district. Meanwhile, shopping can be found on the lower floors of our building or at the famous Intime Shopping Mall, just 700 metres away. Along with modern fashions, the city offers characteristic local handicrafts, including stone sculptures, Ou embroidery, “Dragon Beard” mats, and lacquer chopsticks.
