Previously known as Canton and called the Flower City, Guangzhou is the capital of southern China’s Guangdong Province. 170 kilometers from Hong Kong, it is located at the intersection of three Pearl River tributaries that flow to the South China Sea. Overlooking the river, The Westin Pazhou is just steps, by covered walkway, from the celebrated Guangzhou International Convention & Exhibition Centre, just six kilometers from the city’s central business district, and less than an hour drive from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN).
A vibrant city combining over 2,000 years of history, Guangzhou houses renowned Buddhist sites, such as the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees. The city is also dotted with many parks, including Yuexiu Park, which is home to three lakes and several monuments. White Cloud Mountain, 17 kilometers north of downtown, offers a bird’s eye view of the entire city.
Architectural feats such as Chime-Long Paradise, China’s largest amusement park, and the Canton Tower, which boasts a 450-meter-high observation deck and 18-meter-long open-air skywalk, include some of the city's most fascinating sites.
