Meaning “road at the foot of the mountain,” Rusutsu is a village southwest of Sapporo in Hokkaido, Japan. Set in a standalone tower, The Westin Rusutsu Resort is ideally situated in the integrated Rusutsu Resort, one of Hokkaido’s largest skiing destinations.

Elevate your senses with our resort’s year-round activities across 820 hectares. From late November until May, ski and snowboard on 37 beautiful trails spread over three mountains. These long, diverse trails are suitable for all levels of experience. Nature zones offer off-piste skiing, and West Mountain features an evening terrain park. Children can learn to ski and take part in other engaging activities at the dedicated Kids Park. Enjoy snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, and other exciting outdoor winter activities. Take a challenging climb up the indoor climbing wall, or find spiritual wellness at a yoga class.

In the summer, engage in Hokkaido’s best golfing on the Tower Course, Izumikawa Course, River Course, or Wood Course. Just steps from our resort is Hokkaido’s largest amusement park, comprising eight rollercoasters, a Ferris wheel, thrilling rides, go-karts, a jumbo pool, a children’s area, and more. Take in the area’s natural beauty and wildlife in greater detail by rafting down the picturesque Shiribetsu River, canoeing, paragliding, hiking, fishing, and mountain biking. Admire the beautiful flowers along Flower Road or visit a nearby farm.

Embrace spectacular views from the observation deck at the top of West Mountain, and ring the Happiness Bell for positive energy and good fortune. Witness the utterly magnificent “Sea of Clouds” by taking an early morning gondola ride up to the Yotei Observation Deck to watch the low-lying clouds roll over the hills below the valley floor. Recharge with exceptional crabs, scallops, oysters, salmon, pork, beef, dairy products, and other local delicacies.
