Famous for its hot springs and stunning natural scenery along an extensive Pacific coastline, Yilan County is surrounded by mountains on three sides in northeastern Taiwan. The Westin Yilan Resort is 4 kilometers from downtown Yilan in Yuanshan Village’s Hot Spring Section. The Yilan Railway Station is only a 6-kilometer drive from the resort. Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA) and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) are approximately 75 and 100 minutes away by car, respectively.

Witness magnificent capes, bays, verdant mountains, exotic sea-eroded landforms, and pristine beaches at the Northeast Coast National Scenic Area. Visit Yilan’s Kavalan Whiskey Factory, Bajia Sweetfish Fishery, and Wanglong Monument—all are within a 15-minute drive from our resort. Find wellness with a rejuvenating medicinal soak in a mineral-enriched hot spring. Admire the flora at the Fu-Shan Research Station, Zhentoushan Agricultural Leisure Area, and Yuanshan Orchid Garden. Play a round of golf. Marvel at the views of Turtle Island, home to Taiwan’s only active volcano, from the historic Wushi Fishing Port, or take an adventurous dolphin- and whale-watching excursion. Other engaging aquatic activities include surfing and whitewater rafting. More animal life can be viewed at the Juh-an River Bird Sanctuary.

Built to replicate the Taiwan of yesteryear, the National Center for Traditional Arts houses theatres, a temple, a handicrafts studio, restaurants, and shops offering locally made handicrafts. The stunning Lanyang Museum provides further insight into the area’s history, culture, and landscapes. Elevate your senses with Yilan’s numerous traditional festivals and ceremonies held throughout the year. Time-honored folk customs include the Toucheng Cianggu (grappling with the ghost), Erlong River Boat Race, Guohuo (walking across fire), Zaoang (wife-carrying ritual), Guaguan (lucky coin hanging), Qigui (turtle praying ceremony), and Baibo (praying ceremony). Yilan is also famous for its Children’s Folklore Festival held every summer.

Savor delicious seafood and local produce at diverse restaurants. Visit the colorful Luodong Night Market, located next to Luodong Park, to sample flavorful street food.
