Rated 2 out of 5 Bob We were told to come at noon to check in, Took 20 min or so to check in! We went to our room, changed into bathing suit and went to pool! Absolutely no place to sit. Everything was full.My wife and I had to sit on rocks to have a drink and eat something. Way overbooked. Bad experience!! Never was able to sit by the pool so we went back to our room! They were to have fireworks but only recorded music and a little laser lights for 15 to 20 min. We were there for the 4th of July several years ago and we had a great time. How can a place go down hill so fast in a few years? We told this guy who helped load our luggage about our stay and he replied " maybe you should have come a week before or a week after the fourth"! Will never stay there again, especially during the fourth of July! July 6, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by July 4th Overall my stay was good but ended on a bad note when the cart driver, Todd, was rude, condescending and speeding , causing my new cooler and a suitcase to fly off the cart, No apology offered. cooler scratched and lid fell/broke off. My stuff scattered and he did not help put stuff back in cooler. desk manager at checkout made me wait to talk with him and then did nothing about the situation except to say he apologized and there was nothing he could do but come back. the laser light show was disappointing with no patriotic music and too much purple and green lights. should have been more red, white and blue. service in Azul extremely slow. the majority of service workers were good. Selective reinforcement of adult pool rules. July 6, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Family weekend With my Husband being deployed, I was looking for something fun to do with the kids on the 4th of July. My friend already had a room set up at La Paloma and told me to come up. Soon as I arrived the staff was nothing but helping. Mimi set me up with a room at the last minute making sure we were comfortable, she was very friendly and helpful. The Staff at La Paloma was great the kids had a great time playing the games that were set up for the weekend. Thank you for a great 4th of July with no worries. July 6, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Crazy We have stayed here in the past several times and never have experienced such a mad house! It was like party central with all the college kids bringing in cases and cases of beer and strolling coolers in their room.I won't be back for awhile,if i go back again.Bummed, you use to have more class July 6, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Recent stay in Tucson This recent stay at the Westin La Paloma was the first time in 6 years. We were there for a conference. Immediately enter the hotel lobby, I felt something "new" and difference, but couldn't pin point what it was until we entered our golf course view room. The room was nice and appeared NEW! We later on found out that the hotel recently had a major "face lift" and it showed!!! A few things that I wish could have done differently: I was there for a conference. The rates included the resort fees. However, I wish the front desk personel told me about a "one device allowed per room per day" after giving me be code and told me "the charge will be taken off at the end when you check out" instead, I had to pay extra Internet fees because I used the wifi for both my phone and laptop. LaStly, the "green program" was a big disappointment. We charged some small items at the bar and thought that they would be deducted during checking out for participating in that "green" program. We found out that "oh no, some one should have give you a voucher daily ! Well, we did not receive any voucher, and no one offered them to us. Although those chaeges were small, but I felt the resort didnt live up to my expectations for not being transparent to us about those charges. July 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Desert Oasis Wonderful vacation setting for all ages. Lovely pools and restaurants. Swim-up pool bar was a favorite for many guests. Would have preferred easier access to some rooms where steep, uneven staircases had no railings. A few times guest carts were a little late-arriving to help your travel throughout the large hotel area. Overall, an excellent place to stay! July 2, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Westin La Paloma nicely renovated, less food options on site since Janos closed, but many restaurant options close by, and hotel shuttle will drop off and pick up within 3 mile radius July 2, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Pool side service The hotel and the location was beautiful. My only issue was the pool side service needs improvement. I did not get checked on near enough and had to wait too long for what we did order. July 1, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Treat spg members poorly When I first arrived the room i had reserved had bees in it. I called the front desk they sent up someone to check. The person told me they would change the room and made a call. But he then left me alone in the room with the bees. He told me that they would get me out in 10 minutes. They then forgot about me until I started calling the front desk to ask what I should do! They then moved me to a different room that was not what I had reserved. Later on I requested a late checkout due to the conference I was attending running and they refused this request also. I had friends at the conference who they were able to accommodate but refused to help me. The worst attitudes of the employees I have ever seen in the industry. July 1, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by This hotel lacks to features. 1). Check in you had to wait for ever and it was not that busy. 2) Your staff when I got breakfast was never available to get assistance. The food could of be a lot better (buffett) Alot of items were not even out yet and I went down at 8am. You are not going to win fans with that kind of service. Highlight: Room was great! if you could stand the screaming of all the children in the next room. July 1, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good but Looked nice, but everything was too far. A lot of walking from the room to the pool. Worse were the beds. Very uncomfortable. I had a stiff neck, back and shoulder pain all four days I was there (after first night), came home to see my doctor, he gave me Naproxen, thankfully it worked. Other than that, the atmosphere was good, and it was great that you could get five dollar vouchers and redeem them together. June 28, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Place to host a Meeting I attended the Leading Change Conference last week and I must say ADE's choice of the La Paloma was an excellent one. The hotel staff were friendly and efficient. My room was spacious and it contained the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on in a hotel. June 28, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Frustration I just stayed at this resort for 3 nights. I loved this place, but I was very frustrated by Kailee at the front desk. I was at the pool, came to my room, tried to get my key to work, and it didn't. So, walking with no shoes on the hot gravel, I went to the front desk. She reactivated my key, I walked all the way back to my room, and it didn't work again. I returned to front desk, got a piece of glass in my foot along the way, to get a new key. She gave me 2 new keys. When I left the front desk, I was in tears because I had glass in my foot and my feet hurt from the gravel. Derek was outside and came to my rescue. He noticed I was very frustrated and in pain. He not only gave me a ride to my room, but he waited to make sure I was safe in my room and went above and beyond. I was going to pay and stay 2 more nights because I loved this place so much. However, after that experience, I was frustrated. I would recommend that the front staff (particularly her) be a bit more aware of the clients' needs and a bit more sensitive. Mimi, at the front desk, was EXCELLENT and I think if she had been waiting on me, none of this would have happened. June 28, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Stayed for a conference The hotel is beautiful, has beautiful grounds and a very comfortable room. The day of my last night at the hotel, no one came to clean my room. I mentioned it to the front desk and they gave me a $5 voucher to Starbucks. I was staying at the hotel to attend a conference also at the hotel. During this time when over 800 people were there for a conference there was a women's bathroom closed due to construction. I thought this was poor planning. June 28, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Nice place but Wifi lacks While on bussiness trip needed wifi for work. Despite contacting the front desk sevral times they were unable or unwilling to really help. June 28, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Spread out Although the hotel is beautiful it is a long walk to and from the room, with frequent stop to let staff by driving maintaince carts, Our room and view were very nice, but not cleaned properly. Toliet lid had dried urine on it and trash from previous guest was still in and around the room. Foods was good at reasonable prices. Pool so busy couldnt get a chair and swim up bar claustrophobic with people hudled in the shade waiting for a drink June 25, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Beautiful Property! Stayed at this hotel 22 Jun 13 for a one night stay. I called the hotel that morning and was told 3pm check in. We arrived at 2:30, and was told check in was at 4pm. H509 ( king size room ) was facing mountain and our rate was 159.00 a night plus 20.00 resort fee, in addition to tax.. total was 200.00. Check out was 1pm ( late checkout no charge ) . No vending machines on property. All food and drink must be purchased at the hotel unless you bring snacks/drinks from local grocery store. I contacted the manager the morning of our check out to inform him of a missing cover on one of the jets in the adult pool. Earlier, as i walked towards the steps by the edge of the pool, this valve pulled me to the wall and I thought I was bit by something. After realizing what happened, I notivied the manager and he said his maintenance staff would look into it. I suggested they do it immediately since there were girls with long hair also in the area unaware of the faulty valve. Carpets were extremely dirty.. Socks were black after a few minutes of walking around and changing clothes. Wooden type floor in the room..planks were uneven and a trip hazzard. Nice patio with a nice night view of the mountain and city lights. Very quiet in this part of the resort. Pool noise was never an issue. Beautiful property....lots of paths to walk and explore. I would like to visit again as soon as this bruise heals and I feel comfortable in that pool again. For the money we paid, we did expect more. June 25, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Fair Lovely property but lots of problems. We did not get a room until almost 5 pm. We were given a summer savings coupon book that was not recognized by the staff at any of the venues it applied to ie the restaurant, bar and deli did not know what it was or how to discount it. The pool was slammed with people, no one picked up towels or trash. We asked for a late check out citing Weston's save our Monday program and the front desk had never heard of it. June 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful Property This property was very nice and well presented. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. June 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by nal1 Always a great place to stay at. June 24, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Pool Was Scarey We came with our 6 yrs and 3 yrs to enjoy the new pools and Sidewinder slide. The hotel has no restrictions on who can use this slide. So, it was used by kids AND adults - really BIG adults. I was concerned that the 400 lb males would land on top of the children. By 4:00 Sat. pm pool was so crowded with kids and drunk adults the pool was closed due to the "cloudy" color. Hello Health Dept.YUK! June 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful resort close to home We live in Tucson and went to the resort for a weekend stay at home vacation. It was truly wonderful and very refreshing. The grounds are beautiful and they had a lot of activities and plenty of space to relax. June 24, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Our stay The facility seemed very clean & the staff were friendly. The front desk staff were not helpful & neither were the reservation staff, they would not honor our aaa discount. That was just the beginnig. Be aware that there are hidden fees, you would think that the staff would disclose these fees as it is the honest & right thing to do and would leave a better impression with guest. The beds are not comfortable. June 23, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 Great experience but a few missteps... Overall, our stay (three nights) was excellent. However, there were a few missteps. 1) Housekeeping missed us on our second day; 2) We had been promised something special because it was our wedding anniversary. Nothing happened; 3) Breakfast was slow in coming one day because they ran out of bagels; and 4) Why on earth does the chef at Azul offer French onion soup (grattiné no less) in 105F temperature? What about a cold summer soup as a choice for dinner? June 21, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Trash in room! First, I never complain at hotels. I realize its a room shared by many aka not my house, but I found trash, used up shopping bags, receipts, ripped up price tags in the drawers and even a used up makeup remover cotton rounds with mascara smudge on the floor. Leads me wondering whether housekeeping skipped this room or they don't do a good enough job to check drawers or the floor? Either way, not pleasant! Front desk was nice enough but I declined to have housekeeping come clean the room at 8:30pm, I have kids and we were tired from our cross country road trip. I don't need people opening doors or smiling at me constantly, but do expect a clean room when we check in! June 18, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Much less than i expected We arrived at 7:45 pm and was told our room was not ready. After driving 2 hours with 3 small children and given the time of night I found that to be unacceptable. The staff was nice as they could be saying they are just really busy this weekend and therefore housekeeping is behind. I told them we also have some friends that are about 15 min. behind me with a baby and they also need a room when they arrive. Finally a Mgr came out to talk and he to explained the problem with being behind. I reminded him it is now 8pm and there really isn't any excuse why my room is not ready. He resolved the problem by giving us the "model" room which over looked the golf course saying it is an upgraded room and there would not be a charged for the upgrade. Really!?? I told him our friends can stay with us until their room is available. The bellmen escorted us to our room telling us about all the recent renovations and the upgrades in the rooms and that we should really enjoy our visit. I was happy when we arrived to the room. It was beautifully decorated. We couldn't see the "upgraded" view since it was dark out but I will assume it is also beautiful. Meanwhile my friends arrive to our room waiting for their room to be cleaned. After about 10 min in our room I notice the bottom of my 3 kids feet and the bottom my friends 9 month old baby's hands and the top of his feet are black. I couldn't figure out what that was from. We started to clean the newly tiled floor to only find out the dirty black feet and hands are from the dirty tiled floor! So we clean their feet and hands and make them sit in the living room area while we clean the tiled floor. Before I could say, "okay we are good now." I noticed their feet and hands are black again! So I took a white wash cloth and rubbed it on the carpet and the carpet was just as dirty as the tiled floor! So gross! I'm wondering what's on my sheets and the blankets that I cannot see. I thought, I don't like to complain, since the Mgr upgraded our room and all but this is unacceptable! So I went to the reception desk and explained the situation. She crinkled her nose and said she was sorry and would have someone up there to clean it. So we stayed with our friends in their room while they cleaned ours. The next morning I checked the floor and it wasn't any better. The carpet and the tile needs to be professionally cleaned. Since they didn't have double beds which we requested we got a king bed and two roll away beds leaving my husband and I to shared our bed with one of my kids. Didn't notice until the next morning when my kids told me they were cold the night before is when I realized they didn't give us blankets for the roll away beds, only sheets. Also no regular coffee, only decaf at our coffee station. So, I guess that's enough complaining. We stayed at this same resort 3 years ago and was so great I didn't think twice about having another stay-vacation here. I was really disappointed and will have to think twice before staying at this resort again. Thanks for reading and hopefully having this information will only help so others looking to relax wont have to deal with so much inconvenience. June 18, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 wrong room i had good time people there are helpfull but they give us the wrong room and they had to find us the right room and i had to check in at 6:00 pm .. June 18, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by This Resort needs desperate attention to service. I have stayed at this particular Westin and I was welcomed by a nicely completed re-model. However the service was exceptionally poor. They were understaffed at the pool (knowing it was a big weekend), our breakfast experience was terrible beginning with sorry but the buffet is over in 30 minutes so we cannot seat you as we have big parties coming for our grand brunch. I am staying at a resort where I intend to enjoy a nice breakfast and not have to climb into my car when the weather is at 110 degrees. They were very rude about it even the lady in charge. Once we are sat the service is awful. All the plates stacked on the table, empty water glasses not a chance of ordering another mimosa. No one in sight and if they were they'd ignore the stacked plates and empty glasses. I would not recommend someone going to this type of "Resort" you would not leave as a happy guest rather just frustrated. June 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by great renovation! Everyone who worked at the resort was wonderful! (One exception--young lady who was greeter at restaurant Saturday morning. Not a people person and far from a "greeter!") The golf cart drivers, the gift shop clerks, the pool kids...all were so nice! Keul, the Lost Boy from Sudan, was again wonderful as he explained his journey (upon my request) to my grandson. Thank you, Kuel! June 17, 2013
