I am very impressed on how well this large hotel is run. The rooms are in excellent condition. The wear and tear is not noticeable, upkeep is fantastic. Just great job all around.
Three things that I believe could use a looking into if perfection would be the goal:
One: Front Desk~The line was large at check-in. I am not sure how I feel about not having a rope and stantion of some sort for definition.
Two: Elevators in the night time were full of garbage. Now I blame the guests but unfortunately some one has to clean it up.
Three: That Smoothie/Pantry store was packed at around 11pm ish. Poor guy was in the weeds look like he wanted to cry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sid29 Very Nice Family Vacation Place
We really enjoyed our family vacation and the highlight was the double decker pool and proximity to the beach. The on-site restaurants, though limited in selection, was very good, especially Hollywood Prime. The room was comfortable as we upgraded to the ocean view with a balcony. We thought the majority of the staff were pleasant with only a few curt service personnel. A few downsides which prevented the 5 star review were the lack of helpfulness from the concierge staff. They really pushed on-site services without knowledge of off-site restaurants or places to visit. The second negative was that beach chairs were not provided free of charge. I understand charging for cabanas and umbrellas, but no use of beach chairs for the price you pay for the room is hard to imagine. We also had the unfortunate experience of the hotel losing hot water for 24 hours. Be prepared to spend a lot of money for your full stay. Lastly, we hope the Diplomat landing across the walkway will fill out a wider selection of restaurants. It looks too desolate.

This is a beautiful location for a relaxing family vacation. The pools are great and the beach is big with lots to offer. Food at the pools is excellent and and bars are good. I do agree with a previous guest comment about the concierge - they are not good - even with regard to the hotel's own amenities. It's best to do your own trip advisor or open table research for dining and activity options. We loved our room, but we've been here twice and are SPG Gold and got the smallest (but ocean view) rooms available without a balcony. The people at SPG ould not provide info about a larger/upgraded room. Other than that, we have a wonderful time.

The hotel is beautiful and rooms are well appointed. However when I arrived my safe was not operational saying its battery was low. I called the front desk and told them about this. They sent up security about 15 minutes later. Upon them arriving he said your batter y is low and we can’t change that, a different department is needed for that. Over 30 minutes later a very nice gentleman shows up to change the batteries and advises that now security need to come back to reprogram the safe. A little while later the first gentleman from security shows up and spent 10 minutes attempting to reprogram the safe before calling for help because he couldn’t successfully complete the task. The whole process took over an hour in which I was stuck in my room because I had items that needed to be locked up.
My second issue was my room was not cleaned on the first day.
My third issue is I left an item in my room. I called the hotel to inquire if it had been found. They transferred me to security again. I left my phone number with a security guard who said he would check with housekeeping as well send a guard to my room to check for the item an call me back. I have not been called back and it has been over 16 hours.
The hotel is beautiful, but the staff as proven to be less than competent.

Just stayed again at one of my favorite Westin. This place is in a dire need of improvement. We see a decline in service and quality everytime when we come back. 1. At checking in status not recognized, upgrade not granted. Corrected next day though. 2. Cleaning is a problem. Two days in a row we did not received cleaning unless we asked for it after 6PPM 3. The food at the Executive Club is scarcier and scarcier. THey cut is so much that almost nothing is left. People working there are great. 4. THe Spa is in disrepair. Maybe because it is moving to the beach location. 5. Beautiful pool and surroundings. My kids learned to swim in this pool. Been there recently and we are very disappointed with the new towel policy. We had a habit there. One of the parents will go ahead and prepare the chairs for the family to arrive. Now, they only give you 2 towels per person. You either go together or you only get 2 towels. They are not saving money, neither the earth, but they are aggravating a lot of guests, especially families. Ok, if you only give 2 towels per person, then have chair covers like other hotels do. Two towels are needed just to cover the chairs that are generally pooped by the abundance of birds in the area. Do not let the service slide.

I was very disappointed with the service I received during my stay. I had 2 rooms for 2 nights for an event that my company sponsored. (we also host a holiday party every year there). I had a few different confirmation numbers when I checked in due to the reservations being made at different times. The person that checked me in was very nice and said she straightened everything out. The next day I was told that we had to move out of both rooms into new ones. The person I dealt with that was a manager was not very nice and I felt that she was not trying to help us. There were delays on changing the rooms and when we did change - one of the rooms A/C was very loud. It kept us up for most of the night. I usually have a very nice experience at this hotel and at Starwood hotels so I was very disappointed. The only reason I state that I would recommend this hotel is due to my past experience here.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Rick1954 Very average and disappointing in some aspects
While I excitedly awaited my arrival at the hotel I thought ths was going to be a great two days at a great hotel but your resort didn't live up to expectations. The welcome was not great....a question or two I had was abruptly answered. The room was good, paying for wifi at a hotel like this is ridiculous but I do like the green orientation. The pools were nice and that staff was friendly as we're the parking valets and housekeeping staff. The gift shop was stacked well but the staff bordered on incompetent and one young African American women was very rude. She will remember the incident well....not able to ring up a stupid paper she yelled at a coworker 'just do this for me'....are you kidding me and she wouldn't even apologize. Really? The food was good but your restauant selection was weak. Steak house pretentious except the two bar meals I had were good....Jackie was the best server and best employee I me at the hotel. However your hostesses were not good as one was not friendly and the other I guess was supposed to be eye candy. I would havecsent her home both nights given her dress...not appropriate for a supposedly classy place. The cafe was ok for lunch but the line, and tight space to get the breakfast buffet was a joke....you need a redesign. Indn bother to wait 30 minutes to eat breakfast. The Bar Sue staff was ok....too small a venue. The ingredients staff was not friendly. I could go on but you get the idea. Oh the gym was small too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Robinson766 Better than expected for a big convention hotel
Stayed there for four nights mid January, 2014.Club lounge was good.Liked the terraces on the ocean and intercoastal waterway. Nicely decorated, food quality and variety were better than expected. Bit short staffed but they were always helpful.Never saw or heard of the club floor concierge that is mentioned on the website.Had a club suite using points and suite upgrades.Disappointed in the lack of a view or balcony.Room 3637 looked straight south out over the convention center, other buildings with a small slice of the beach visible. Not full length windows and you had to walk over and stand directly in front of them to see the partial ocean view.In hind sight , we would have been better off with an upgraded bedroom with a balcony.
We had dinner at Hollywood Prime on the Saturday and were very pleased. While it was expensive ,we felt that we received full value. The service was excellent - very professional and knowledgable about the food and wines.Food was outstanding. Thank you Diego!
Pools were fine with no problems finding lounge chairs when we wanted them.Food at the pool side bar was better than the usual fare. The salads and fresh shimp were good.It is clearly a large convention hotel and several large groups came and went while we were there. This did lead to some long lines at reception.Despite that, the hotel never felt uncomfortably crowded.

Hello. My stay at the hotel was ok. I was expecting a better experience with my room. I stayed in room 2230 in the south tower. Room was clean but some items were not to par. For instance the table lamps were or in need of repair and loose. The bathroom shower faucet was difficult to keep the water temperature steady. Water temperature had wild swings from hot to cold at any given time. Also I believe in my view that this hotel shouldn't have to charge a parking fee for guests to park their vehicles. Is it not part of the hotel property? Just asking. Overall the staff was great and the place very clean. Amenities up to par and well taken care of. The only issues I experienced were the ones mentioned above. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Happycpl2014 A weekend to remember
My wife and I spent this past weekend at the Westin with an ocean view and found the entire experience to be absolutely wonderful. The amenities the hotel provides speak for themselves....the location, the (2) pools, the beach with umbrellas and chairs.....the king sized (extremely comfortable) bed, the oversized tub, separated from the bedroom (and the ocean view) by sliding doors....which could be opened to allow an unobstructed view of the water....were all marvelous features - but what really made this visit one to remember, was the staff: From the valet parking staff, to the bellhops, the maids, the front desk personnel, the pool people, the kitchen staff.....were all without exception - friendly, courteous, and extremely professional. We travel a fair bit....and both of us agreed - this was one of our best hotel experiences ever. The in-room dining (breakfast for two), while quite enjoyable, was a little pricey - $90.(with tip). However, if you prefer to eat off the property, there are plenty of excellent eateries within a few minutes’ drive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and want to give kudos to the people at the Westin Diplomat for helping to make this a weekend to remember...!!

The property is top-notch!! We were greeted by Maritza (BarSu Mgr) & Santiago (the Westin Lobby Host) upon arrival with the warmest & most welcoming hospitality that we felt like old friends. Our stay just got better from that point. This was the first visit to the Diplomat for my 3 daughters & they were blown away, my 8-yr old said she felt like a movie star because of the way we were greeted & treated throughout our stay. :-)
The amenities are of the highest quality, the food is great & consistent in quality, & the staff are some of the best in the business!!! Great Job by All - - we look forward to staying at the Diplomat again soon.

I have stayed in numerous 4 and 5 star hotels over the course of the last 25 years due to business travel. Three concerns jumped out at me. 1. sub-par maid service. Outside of changing out coffee/soaps/towels is their job to do anything else? Was not the standard I was used too. 2. Maintenance of rooms. Glass bathroom door made a horrific sound upon each closure. I tried to fix with soap and shampoo to no avail. Is housekeeping supposed to make management aware of these issues? 3. I found the food and drink (mainly drink) prices to be unreasonable. $11 - $14 for a cocktail?

Rated 1 out of 5 by diverdown1120 Beautiful resort that loves a "bait and switch" approaach
I had issues starting from the time of booking. I booked through Westin's website attempting a promotion for book two nights and get a night free. The promotion showed my dates I was requesting as being available, however when I went to book the reservation it said it was giving me a promotion however the price showed I was not getting that. This was the start of the bait and switch type issues. I called the resort and after notifying a manager of the error I was offered a room upgrade for the inconvenience if I wanted to stay with them. I asked to call back later, and made reservations through the promotion on a different set of dates and a reservation for another night with a group for a convention. The manager linked to the two reservations and as far as I knew I was paid in full.
The night my wife and I went to check in the issues continued. We pulled up and the valet stated valet parking was $25. I asked for self parking and he said they have it across the street, and I then asked how much self parking was to which he replied there was no fee if your staying at the resort. I self parked and then went with my wife to check in. The lady who greeted us stated there needed to be a credit car put on file for deposit for incidentals and that it was up to 55% of our daily room fee, but if we didn't charge anything to the room the deposit would be refunded. I gave a credit card and it was declined due to me no notifying the bank I would be traveling. I then gave a debit card and the same thing happened. I asked her how much the pre-authorization was so I could notify the bank that I'm traveling and to approve it. She stated it was $450. I called the bank and found that a pre-authoriztion for over $700 was attempted, not the $450 like she told me. So again, I was told one thing and then they decided to do something else. The $700 was almost more than my entire reservation. I then returned to the desk to ask about this and was greeted by a manger. The manager said she didn't know why there was a difference in the pre-authorization amount but offered for us to check in without a card on file. We stated that was fine and checked in. She asked if we had a car to which we replied yes. I asked for the card the valet mentioned to gain access to the garage and she gave it to me. She never mentioned anything about a parking fee and stated we were paid in full so unless we wanted to purchase something at the bar or store we owed nothing further.
Then comes the next day of issues. My wife and I were getting ready to leave for dinner and we called to ask for fresh towels after we showered. The lady who answered the phone stated they would bring towels up right away. About 15 mins later my wife called to ask how long it was going to be so we could try to estimate a time to leave for dinner, she was told they were on there way with the towels. Another 15 mins past, still no towels now 30 mins after the initial request. My wife called again to ask if they were really on their way because we wanted to leave for dinner, a supervisor got on the phone and stated someone would be up within 5 minutes. Another 15 mins go by, now 45 mins after the initial request. My wife called again asking how much longer because we wanted to leave for dinner, and she was told they were on their way right now. Another 15 mins go by so now a total of an hour since the initial request has passed. My wife now called to see if we could get them at the front desk, and they told her they would leave them in a bag on the door. We went to leave for dinner, got the car realized we left something back in the room and returned to the room. When we got back to the room 1 hr and 15 mins after our initial request the towels were finally there. My wife called to let them know and they asked here how long it took. She told them about an hour and 15 mins, and she was informed the person who took the towels stated they delivered them within 30 mins of the request. That was obviously a lie.
Later that night after we got home from dinner we had a message stating we needed to contact them about our account. My wife called and spoke to a lady who stated we owed $40 for parking and needed to pay for the remaining charges for our stay. She stated it was $20/day for parking. We informed her what the valet said about no charge, and that when we checked in they said we would have no further charges. The lady stated she would refund the $40, but that now we have been informed there is a charge for parking so we need to pay it. I said I would be down to talk to a manager. My wife and I talked to a front desk manager and asked why we were told two different things. She stated that we were informed at check-in, to which I replied that we were not and that we were told we would have no further charges. She just basically said, oh well now you know there is a charge so you have to pay it. I did not have my credit card on me at the time so I said I would pay it the next day. She said that was fine.
The following day our issues continued. It started when I went to the front desk to pay for parking. The gentleman who helped me stated that since I was traveling with a group, I got a group rate for parking which was $12 not $20 like I was previously told. So again, more misinformation. I said I would go ahead and pay for the remaining parking day that was owed and handed him my credit card. He handed the card back to me and stated that my last night was not paid for. I told him that when I initially booked there were difficulties but that the reservations were merged and I paid in full. I also told him that I was told the same thing when I checked in. He said no, I owe for the last night. I told him I'll look at my receipts to see what I paid for when I booked, and asked for a receipt to show I paid for parking. He printed the receipt and gave it to me. When my wife and I were at dinner I was looking over the receipt and noticed that not only did he charge me for parking, he charged me for the room without telling me he was going to do that. He didn't even mention anything to me about the last night being owed until after he took my card to pay only $12 for parking. So, he very deceivingly decided to charge my card for significantly more than I knew I was being charged. This was my wife and I's last night in the area so we just wanted to enjoy the night and deal with this in the morning. However, when we returned home late that night we found several bugs crawling in the room. I killed all of them that I could find and saved one to show the front desk what they were. Being that it was after 3am we went to bed and decided to deal with everything the next day.
The following morning we got everything packed up and went to check out. I asked to speak with a manager about all of our issues. The lady I spoke with apologized and called security to report the issue with the bugs. After we gave our information for that I asked her why the gentleman yesterday charged my card one night's stay without telling me when I only knew I was paying for parking. She said while it was wrong of him to do, the charge needed to be done because it was owed. I informed her that I had a record of paying for my reservation and that when I made the reservations along with checking in I was told I had a $0 balance and was paid in full. She apologized for the confusion and offered a whopping 50% refund for the night's charge that was put through without my permission. Since my wife and I needed to leave to check in at a resort about 30 miles north I just said okay and left.
So to summarize, the resort looks beautiful but the staff is very deceiving. They will tell you one thing, and then do another. This started from the beginning of the website doing it, and then continued with the staff while staying there. I typically stay with a competitor, but wanted to give Westin a try since it looked so nice. However, with my experience I will never want to stay at a Westin again. There is absolutely no excuse for the lack of honesty with the staff. While the manager in the end offered 50% refund for one night, I do not view that as being any where near worth the amount of trouble my wife and I had to go through. All in all, I felt that way too much time was wasted on my vacation and not enough time was able to be spent enjoying it. It's a great looking facility, but no amount of beauty makes up for deceitfulness of it.'s staff.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Cheryl30 Staff need some work
This is a gorgeous hotel, but a few of the staff made my stay unenjoyable. Upon arriving I was told I would be given a room with 2 double beds rather than a queen or king as I would have preferred. I booked the room in advance and was given no alternative options nor an apology. The room worked out fine, but it would have been nice for the front desk staffer to have recognized that this was not my ideal room and to show some care for my needs. The front desk staff member upon leaving was even worse. I tried to make one phone call and followed the phone instructions in my room which advised me to hit 9-0- then the #. After trying this a few times and continually getting an operator rather than the company I was trying to reach I tried dialing without hitting the 0. This worked. I explained what happened to the front desk agent when I was checking out and she looked at me as if I was trying to pull a fast one over on her. She advised that I had made 4 phone calls and was billed appropriately. When I insisted this was only because the phone instructions in the room were incorrect and that I only intended to make the one phone call she agreed to waive 2 of the charges. I still ended up paying for an extra phone call and was never introduced to a manager to share my frustrations and to see if the instructions would be changed for future travelers. This front desk agent angered me at the end of the stay and over a measly $5 difference. Both front desk agents had lack of empathy for the guests and left me not wanting to return to this hotel in the future.

The hotel is full of amenities. Unfortunately, they don't include cleaning the room in a reasonable period of time. Our room was not cleaned till 4pm. The response from the hotel was (after being put on hold and passed around), was that it's not required to be cleaned till 5pm. Not good hospitality. For that reason, we can not recommend this hotel.

Considering the level of the hotel, I highly believe the food should be much better at the conferences events for what it was paid. The Café should be opened in the evening, or the food at the Bar Su should be better, there were people returning the plates in one of our groups due to the high value of guests all at the same time there.

Internet performance was unacceptable. As a frequent business traveler, I need internet access to work. Connection, speed when connected, and tech assistance were all well below typical hotel performance. I spent at least 2 hours with tech support trying to resolve, and although receiving multiple promises to repair and call me back, it never happened.
Size of double beds in rooms need to be upgraded. As a great spot to bring the family to combine with a business trip, the double size beds need to be upgraded to queen size beds.
Other than those two issues (which are significant issues) the hotel, ammenities and location are great.

Appearance-- Grandiose lobby
check in -- though we called to report our late arrival, no help at the door for Luggage. No offer from the check in clerk to get help for us.
Did not have the requested room, and tried to pawn off a lesser room for the same price
room-- small, not much more than an interstate motel. Though one could, with proper lean, see the ocean, one could not hear it above the air conditioning plant immediately below us.
housekeeping -- continuous request for needs. e.g., shampoo, etc.
meeting facilities -- fantastic with lots of different options
food/bar -- good, but overpriced
