Stayed here for one night on a road trip, The location in downtown Greenville cannot be beaten, and the hotel itself is charming and old-style.
The staff was wonderful and the platinum treatment great. Even had a small welcome letter with some snacks from the front office manager. That's the way to treat spg elites, well done!
The platinum continental breakfast was good and even included some hot items - also a big plus. I missed a few more healthy options, though. No whole grain/multi grain bread, toast or cereals was a drawback.
The big minus for us on this hotel, was the noise. Yes, we are light sleepers, but be aware that the windows in the rooms are old and not doubleglassed. If you stay in a room facing the main street you could eailyl hear traffic. We changed room to a wonderful suite facing the back, but here the generator/main airconditioning outside made a very loud and constantly humming noise. Note - this may not bother others, or even most people, but just be sure to bring your earplugs if you sleep lightly like us. I may suggest that the windows are replaced sometime soon, though.
Other minues? Well, the hotel is active on social media (twitter & facebook) but should prioritize adding an email address to their contact info on spg.com
All in all, five out of five in all aspects, except when it came to the noise issue.

WE CHECKED IN TO THE HOTEL ON A THURSDAY AFTERNOON. WE REQUESTED A ROOM NEAR THE ELEVATOR AND A ROOM WAS AVAILABLE. WE RECEIVED NO INFORMATION ON ANY OF THE HOTELS FACILITIES THAT WERE AVAILABLE. I WAS TOLD WHAT GREAT BEDS THEY HAVE "THE HEAVENLY BED" AND ALTHOUGH THE MATTRESS ITSELF WAS COMFORTABLE AND SO WERE THE PILLOWS, THE BEDDING (BLANKETS, SHEETS) WERE LIKE SLEEPING UNDER LEAD. I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A HORRIBLE NIGHTS SLEEP. IT FELT LIKE AN ELEPHANT WAS ON TOP OF ME...WHEN WE CHECKED OUT WE TURNED IN OUR ROOM KEYS AND MY HUSBAND WENT TO THE GARAGE TO GET OUR OUR CAR WHILE I WAITED IN THE LOBBY WITH ALL OUR BAGS. AFTER THE FRONT DESK CLERK TOOK THE ROOM KEYS AND SAW MY HUSBAND WALK AWAY TO GET THE CAR SHE THEN TOLD ME HE NEEDED THE ROOM KEY TO GET THE CAR OUT OF THE PARKING GARAGE. THEN SAYS...."BUT IF HE COMES OUT ON LEVEL ONE HE'LL BE ABLE TO PUSH THE RED BUTTON AND CALL FOR AN ATTENDANT TO LET HIM OUT".... THEN SHE TOLD ME THE GARAGE IS NOT PART OF THE HOTEL. TEN MINUTES LATER MY HUSBAND APPEARS BACK IN THE LOBBY BECAUSE HE WAS UNABLE TO GET THE CAR OUT WITHOUT THE KEY. THEY DIDN'T OFFER TO CALL OVER TO THE GARAGE OR IN ANY WAY ASSIST. THEY COULD HAVE GONE AND GIVEN HIM BACK THE KEY TO GET OUT, THERE WERE MULTIPLE PEOPLE WORKING THE DESK. WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING ANOTHER COUPLE CHECKED IN AND THEY WERE GIVEN COMPLETE INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT THE HOTEL OFFERED TO THEIR GUESTS....THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS HOTEL IS THE LOCATION.....THAT'S IT. AND
DID IT REALLY HAVE A POOL AND SPA???????

This was my first overnight visit to Greenville. I was attending a conference and had a reservation for two nights. When I arrived, reception indicated that I only had a reservation for one night (I had confirmation for both nights). Apparently some "Fall into Greenville" was scheduled to begin on Friday and the hotel must have wanted the conference guests to leave to make room for clientelle who were paying more per night. As a result, I had to check out on Friday and valet my things since the conference didn't end until after check-out. Unfortunately, in the complete disorganization that was supposed to be the valet, the valet (despite me providing all claim tickets) failed to load all my belongings into my car. As a result, when I arrived home, I discovered that I was missing my camera bag (I was the photographer for the conference) and a number of important documents. I immediately (that afternoon) called the hotel and arranged to have the bag and documents (the valet still had them) overnighted to me. Unfortunately, this conference guest must not have been important enough to the hotel so the hotel didn't bother to have my bag shipped out until late Saturday evening. By Sunday, when the bag still hadn't arrived, I called back and got a weak excuse from a front desk person about Fed Ex not picking up the package until Saturday evening. Needless to say, as of today (Monday), I still do not have my bag and am absolutely disgusted with the level of service from this hotel and the lack of courtesy shown to its guests. All of this combined with my terrible night sleep (since my room was facing the Main street where "Fall into Greenville" was setting up all its tent poles all night long, made this such a miserable experience that I will reccommed that my conference (I am on the Board) NEVER holds its annual conference in this hotel again.
