It was a short one-night business trip but it was a memorable one. Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. It was my second stay at this hotel and the last time was a year ago but I felt like I have been there regularly. Lisa from concierge was very helpful and recommended a wonderful Asian restaurant called Slurping Turtle as I had wanted Asia cuisine. It was more than satisfying - Thanks again Lisa, I did not see you after that and could not thank you personally! The bed was very comfortable-as always with your Heavenly beds. Your service quality throughout my interactions with your staff was always friendly and warm. Will certainly recommend to anyone going to Chicago.

The hotel was nice enough, but the staff was not very helpful. I called the hotel to inquire about a mini fridge in the room. I spoke to 2 different people, neither of whom told me that the room had a fully stocked mini bar. The front desk employees had no clue about the shuttle we were trying to catch to the wedding venue. There was no concierge on duty on a Saturday night. The hotel itself was nice. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.

/from checkin to departure, the hotel experience was excellent. The meeting time, meals, and service were exceptional. Arlesha Coleman was the front desk agent when I checked in, and she started the experience off in such a professional, upbeat, and friendly way! I recommend this hotel very highly.

I did not know it until I check in, but I was upgraded to the Club Floor after telling the front desk of the travel issues I was having and that I was not going to be arriving for my first night. He went ahead and checked me in so when I arrived in the morning I was able to go straight to my room, which was an upgrade. Thank you for helping a weary traveler.

Let me first say that I love the Westin hotels. I stay in them often for business, and am rarely disappointed. This was the exception. Great hotel, great location, and great view from my room. However, the room temperature varied greatly (even when the thermostat was as low as it could go). As a result...I woke up several times in a hot room...not a great night of sleep. For what its worth, I talked to others I was traveling with about this - and some had the same problem...others didn't. For the amount of money we were paying for the room rate, you would think this wouldn't be an issue.

I have been a regular visitor to the Westin since two years, really like the place more so for its comfortable rooms than anything else. This changed when I tried to check in tonight at the frontdesk, due to some issues with the frontdesk card machine, my card wasn't accepted. Upon offering to pay by cash, I was refused a room for the night by the Manager on duty. This is easily one of the worst things a hotel can do to its more loyal guests. I ended up dragging all my luggage to a hotel nearby at 12 in the night (where my card magically seemed to work). Being a Platinum member, this treatment has led me to re-think my association with Starwood. As far as this Westin goes, I'm never returning back again!!

I recently stayed at the Westin Chicago River North. I booked a Delux King specifically for a better view (higher) and a little extra room. I was put on the lowest floor possible which qualified as "higher view". As an SPG Gold member I asked for a higher floor but was told I couldn't receive an upgrade because I already paid for an upgraded room. That didn't seem to make sense.
Once in the room, I found it very cramped. A couch, chair and end table were squeezed in front of the window. I had to climb over furniture to open the curtains or change the thermostat. It seems like the room was over-furnished for its size simply to qualify as a Delux King.
The view was terrible. There are construction barges on the river directly in front of the hotel. Obviously not the Westin's fault, but it would have been nice to know when specifically making a river view reservation the week prior.
The hotel has no pool or hot tub which I found disappointing for what is billed as an upscale property. I won't be staying at this Westin again.

1. The GYM was a gem! More than enough equipment to choose from! It has a sauna, too!! The refrigerated wet towels and bowl of apples was an added nice touch, as well.
2. We got a bit disappointed upon entering the room that was given to us (Room 315). Upon entering, the carpet had cuts on them and looks like it was ripped off and glued back on. Please have that fixed...it doesn't look nice at all when guests had a long flight and you are welcomed by that sight. I had no time to request for another room as our kids were really tired.
3. There was no microwave! I have 2 kids and we ended up throwing our left-over food as there was no space in the refrigerator (filled with snacks and beverage that you have to pay for) and there's no microwave to heat the food in.
4. We only stayed for 2 nights and bath tub kept clogging, please have that serviced.
5. We had breakfast buffet there (Ember Grille) as a family on Sunday morning, and met up with relatives to have lunch there on the same day -- same buffet food as breakfast! We wish they had replaced it!

our stay at Westin River North/ Chicago. We had a reservation for 2 rooms on August 31,2014. My nephew was getting married that day and many family and friends had reservations at the hotel for that night. I called the hotel very early on 8-31-14 and spoke with the front desk asking if she could please mark our reservation that we needed to be able to get into our room as close to check in time as possible since we were attending a family wedding at 5:30pm. We checked in at the hotels front desk around 12:30pm only to be told the hotel was sold out and our room may not be available until 3 or 4pm. (We realized check in is 3pm.) My husband and I and 4 children waited in the lobby until 4:15pm when we again were told our rooms were not available since they needed to be cleaned from the previous night.. The shuttle to the wedding was leaving for the ceremony at 4:45pm. The manager offered us to shower and dress in the locker room and offered us a free cocktail from the bar. (all 6 of us were supposed to get ready in the locker room for a Black Tie Optional wedding in the Locker Room?? ) It was stressful as we were late to my nephews wedding and I believe this situation should have been handled differently with excellent customer service as a priority. This was a bad experience and I would not recommend the Westin Chicago-River North.

great location, conceirge was excellent. i called them before arrival. staff called me from home. gave me suggestions. then gave me their cell phone. pretty incredible. rooms were fantastic. And received an upgraded room with a smile. however, their breakfast buffet is embarrassing for the price. think on Saturday it was $18. asked waiter about pancakes/french toast. just told it is not part of buffet, if you want that addtl cost. Sunday buffet goes up to $22 and it really isn't much better. wireless internet connection was poor. amazing to me when I mentioned this during checkout i just got a head nod. no offer to refund the $9.95 per day fee. grown to expect more out of an SPG hotel.

We appreciate the kind service we received from your hotel in making our anniversary so special, including the room upgrade (to a beautiful room) and the complimentary treat you left us when we arrived back to our room after dinner. The room was spacious and clean and the beds were so comfy. The staff are very professional and polite. And, although it was a little thing, we loved the hot chocolate you served to guests coming in from the December cold. We are planning a spring trip again to the Westin. This is also a great location to good restaurants and Michigan Avenue. Thank you to all the staff!

The staff at this hotel was extremely nice and very accomodating. When I checked in Selawe and the rest of the staff were all every pleasant and made sure I had everything I needed. I stayed for three nights, the first two nights were great, no problems. On the third night, I got a very noisy neighbor (throwing a very obnoxious party at 3am). The noise was loud enough to be heard throughout the floor. I was fully expecting to suffer through it or move rooms, but the security not only came up to get them to "turn the music down" but was there five minutes later the second they tried to start it back up again. I've never seen a place on top of things as quick as they were.

Over all I like this hotel , but the hotel is listed as a Cat. 5 with Starwood and I just don't see it. The hotel is nice don't get me wrong, but I think it's more of a 4 rather than a 5. The other thing I did not care for is unless you are Platinum they don't seem to really care what you want. I have another stay coming up in July 2012 and I am crossing my fingers it's a bit better than last time.

Westin properties and staff in general are amazing but this location stands out. When I checked in, they mentioned having a Personal Trainer in the gym. I went down and was incredibly impressed by Sam. He is so motivational and really cares about the results you can achieve. He created a workout plan and then demonstrated the exercises. In 35 mins, I was sweating and exhausted but motivated for my business day. Sam truly goes above and beyond and even emailed me diagrams of the exercises. Thanks Westin for hiring such great staff!

The hotel was beautiful and the friendly staff made our stay incredible. We really loved the Westin club breakfast every morning and the front desk staff member who checked us in, Francisco. The location was perfect for walking to many of Chicago's local attractions, including Grant Park, Millenium Park, the Sears Tower, and had great views of the river. Plus the hotel was about a 5 minute walk to the nearest train station that took us directly to the airport.

Wonderful ambiance - decor in lobby and guest rooms were great. LOVE the heavenly bed, and luxurious bath. Location is perfect - within walking distance of most River-North locations. Staff was extremely friendly & helpful – from check-in to check-out. I WILL be staying at this property again.

This property never disappoints. Fantastic upgrade to a riverview on this trip. Club lounge has great snacks and service. Staff go above and beyond. A retreat in the middle of the city!

Lisa is an exceptional concierge who is resourceful, listens, and does everything she can to accomodate a guest.
And Jonathan as a manager is excellent.
Even during a busy convention weekend he's able to focus on a guest's needs and ensure everything is taken care of.
The hotel is very well maintained with warm employees. When walking to a room I think it's nice when house keeping actually looks up and says good morning!
I just wish there was a pool at this hotel, but other than that it's a superb facility which would satisfy a discerning traveler!

We choose Westin River North as we were going to a dinner party near by. It is a great location, as shopping and the train are near by. We forgot our coats and it was a little cool so we had to go shopping. The room was very spacious and clean. We were on the 20th floor, club level. We had our own Ipad on the desk and free wifi. Breakfast was just what we needed, cereal, fruit,pastries and bagels or toast. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant. If we go to Chicago again, I will be going back to the Westin River North. Great Place.

This is the worst Westin I have ever stayed in. I am very shocked at the treatment I received while here. I asked to have my Platinum Room upgrade and I was at first told that I did not have a platinum level. I was then told that they had no other upgrades available although I could go online and book one. The service I received was horrible and I would probably not return based on this experience and would inform friends that frequently travel to the area to stay clear. Nobody seemed to listen or care to what I had to say.

The only thing that met my expectations was the comfort of the bed. I was in Chicago for a business conference. I had a very hard time getting the files I needed because your hotel wifi was not secure- I am not allowed to use unprotected internet connections for anything work related. How a supposedly high-quality hotel in 2014 cannot meet this basic requirement of guests is beyond my comprehension. Absolutely unacceptable. Furthermore, the shower ran out of hot water in barely a minute. It was a very uncomfortable experience and not how I would have liked to start each day. Again, simply unacceptable. I would not recommend this hotel for any reason.

I'm a platinum member. They put me in an adjoining room even though my profile is clear that I never want that. The room the moved me to had a DISGUSTING bathroom. There was hair on the sink and in the tub. Then the shower didn't work (most of the water shot into the tub, not the shower head) and the drain didn't drain, causing me to have to stand in 3 inches of gross water. This is a ridiculously poor example of the Westin brand. The hotel is worn out and needs a comprehensive refurbishment.

Helpful, pleasant staff, Westin quality bed and furnishings, VERY good location! Only two small negatives. (1) curtains were a low cost installation on a single track with no overlap; when drawn they stood 6 inches apart instead of joining. Just as well I always travel with two clothes pegs for this purpose. But this should be better in a Westin. (2) only four elevators in a big property. Substantial waits when busy. Nothing you can do about that after the building is built though.

I stayed there for one night while taking my wife on a surprise "overnight date" from Columbus ohio. Things started great and the service there was unbelievable. The clerk got us in early and into a great room. The stay was wonderful.
Then I got home and got my bill and had charges on it from the "honor bar". My wife and I were only in the room to sleep and didn't even eat in the room let alone eat from the honor bar. On top of this she is pregnant so there was no "bar" action of any type. I called the billing department 3 times over the last week and a half and left voice mails. The recording says they will return it within 24hour. Needless to say, I am still waiting. I have also emailed 3 different people at the hotel to atleast get an explanation. No response. The service after the stay is ruining my experience.
