Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hotel, Great Staff, Great Location Samantha was so attentive to our every need. Samantha went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. Excellent Customer Service. Omar was also very helpful. Samantha and Omar made our trip a very enjoyable experience. I look forward to staying there again in the near future! September 30, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by A bit disappointed, actually This Westin sits side by side with the Sheraton Palo Alto, essentially across the street from Stanford University. For many years I've always stayed at the Sheraton because its rates are significantly lower than the Westin. This time the Sheraton was full, so with some help from Stanford on rates, I tried the Westin. I must say I was quite disappointed. While the Westin's rates are typically $150-200 more than the Sheraton next door, I actually thought the overall quality of the hotel was, at best, equal to the Sheraton, if not a bit lower. I awoke with a back ache, had to walk across the parking lot to the Sheraton for a cappuccino (they have a Starbucks stand, the Westin doesn't), found the breakfast prices outrageous for what you got, and discovered that to get a taxi you also had to walk next door. Fascinating. Don't waste your money here, many other hotels in the area are equally good for less. September 13, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Superb dinner special Had the pork chop special prepared with a mushroom cream sauce - far better than I expected but the highlight was actually the summer squash with tomatoes and red bell peppers with a Mexican spiciness. I expected somewhat mundane dining and was wonderfully surprised! September 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 Love this place - a second home Over the past 4 years we have stayed at this hotel for every home Stanford football game. The customer service is ALWAYS outstanding. I have yet to have a bad experience or encounter a person working there who wasn't helpful and attentive. The rooms are comfortably appointed & the pool area is outstanding. I give a special shout out to Samuel the valet and Jose the bartender. Two guys that I always enjoy seeing on my visits. For us - when we are in Palo Alto, this is the perfect place to be. Rated 2 out of 5 by Trouble with the staff I stay at the Westin Palo Alto almost every week and have had uncharacteristically bad experiences the last 2 weeks. For starters after telling the attendant when checking in that I wanted to participate in green choice, that I did not need a wake up call, and that I was self parking I had issues with each. The maid came anyways for the first night (despite me saying I wanted to do green choice), my room card did not work for a single entry/exit into the garage my entire stay (despite me going up and asking them to reactivate my card 4 separate times!), and finally I got a wake up call my first day at 6am (not fun) and they appologized, but amazingly gave me a wake up call on the next morning again. Ridiculous. If I'm paying well over $1000/week to stay in the hotel I'm hoping for better services. It was not a good experience. August 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Westin in great location This is a small scale Westin tucked into a great location across from the main entrance to renowned Stanford University. Although boutique style, it has everything you could ever want or need. We were upgraded to a suite which gave us plenty of room to spread out. The Heavenly Westin bed was so comfy and I got a great sleep. The hotel is within a short walk to great shops and restaurants as well as the train station for a ride up the bay to San Francisco or down to San Jose. I will always stay at the Westin Palo Alto when in the area. August 11, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Some upgrades are nice, some miss the mark The rooms were recently updated and so have a fresh, clean feel and the beds are super comfortable. But the designer missed the mark on several areas. First, once again, a hotel has chosen the most uncomfortable, low sofa... for older people, I'm sure they'd be hard to get out of. And instead of using leather, which is easy to clean, long-wearing and breathable, they chose a scratchy flat weave. And the actual sleeper isn't comfortable. Why don't hotels buy La-Z-Boy sleepers with Memory Foam mattress which are AMAZING and actually allow guests to sleep well on them? Plus, the designer chose heavy bunching tables... which the stone top is an great choice, the fact these don't have casters make them difficult for housekeeping to move. There is an oddly-placed outlet installed on the wall just under the large mirror so that the mirror has to be hung too high; the floor lamp shade is already damaged (why not use a metal or rectangular-shaded floor lamp that doesn't bump into the wall?); the bathroom is once again used in the ubiquitous slippery marble (makes no sense to me from a liability standard...much better to use travertine which absorbs moisture and doesn't get slippery when wet); and it was hard to find the switches for the wall-mounted lamps. Finally there were two cellphone plugs incorporated into the nightstand... just not for the IPhone 5 or Samsung Android (?) whicih are the most common phones. As for the staff, it is outstanding...from the doormen to the valet to the front desk to the restaurant. Kudos to the management for hiring and training remarkably positive and helpful people. It is by far the best place to stay in Palo Alto... and tennis pro Serena Williams agrees as she was there all week. August 8, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by Short stay The front desk at check-in was great, especially Alison, who was very helpful. The next shift did not seem as helpful and when I went down to the desk to request a second robe he seemed distracted. No robe ever appeared. The room was nice but down a very long hall. Rated 3 out of 5 by Ok hotel in Palo Alto This is a reasonable choice in Palo Alto - known for lack of good hotel choice. This is an old hotel. Pros - staff helpful & you can walk to PA for dinner. Cons - feels very dated, my room was an incredible distance from the lifts, the water pressure in the shower was very poor & I got woken by the bin lorry collecting bins just beneath my window at 5AM. Hard to believe the hotel would allow this as the result is clearly a bunch of guests with disturb sleep. Overall I would rate the hotel as a 3 & given the poor choice in PA I would stay here again. Nothing specifically struck out as being phenomenal, but I don't have 1 bad or critical thing to say. Great all-around experience and awesome location. Rated 3 out of 5 by Parking We parked in your hotel, our card was programmed to work... The card did not work, we were stuck in your garage, I had to use my iPhone to get help... We were running to a wedding and another time a airport..we were afraid to use the garage I the end.... Bad news for timely moving. July 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful and Comfortable The rooms were very peaceful and quite. The bathrooms large and luxurious. The staff friendly and welcoming. The Gym was accommodating with variety of equipment and machines. I did not use the spa/hot tub, but it seemed very tiny. Soliel restaurant had excellent food and attentive staff. July 22, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hotel is convient to Stanford The only negative is the card readers for parking are not very responsive. It normally took 2-3 swipes before the card reader would recognize the hotel card and open the gate to let us in or out. July 2, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by Great location but mediocre property Despite outwardly friendly staff and an ideal location, this Westin disappoints. Rooms are tiny, service is very inconsistent (including many calls to Service Express and the front desk unanswered), housekeeping requests ignored despite repeated requests and a restaurant with very average and expensive food. If this property weren't in Palo Alto it would never survive. I am a loyal SPG member and this property needs help. June 22, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by too short but perfect in every way After some unexpected changes at work my planned trip was shortened by more than half. Arrived and was greeted by Allision, Caroline and Roxan with beautiful smiles. Always wonderful to return to my second home, 9th visit and counting. Everyone was warm and welcoming, everywhere I turned. As usual, breakfasts were fantastic, had a chance to use the gym, I promised myself the equipment would not challenge me and I won this time. Over came the issue of "how to start it" and enjoyed a super work out in the new exercise gear and shoes I bought while there. Very hard to say good night, but I will be back, in October and have booked next year as well. Sorry to those I missed catching up with. Thank you for everything. miss everyone. xo till I return May 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Staff Slow to Respond When I travel, I love to stay at Westin properties because the quality of the rooms tend to be above average of other hotel properties especially when it comes to the bed. This property did not disappoint in this area. However, the rooms were not ready at the 3:00 pm check in time. Calling the front desk always required a call back from the staff. All staff were very polite but just slow to respond. When you are paying for a room, it should be ready at the check in time. May 22, 2014
