Rated 1 out of 5 by Never go to this hotel This is a venue that seems not so old from the outside. But once you go into your room you see the poor maintenance and dirty furniture, chairs in bad conditions, ants walking all over the nightstands and the bed. Shower not working properly. Noises everywhere, wrong parking signalling. And WORST of all: The internet is expensive and barely works. February 17, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Needs a Major Renovation This place is worn out and not worthy go the Westin Brand. The staff is very nice, but that does not overcome the shabbiness of the property. Stay elsewhere. February 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Exceptional Hotel with Exceptional Platinum Recognition! This Westin is a gem !!! Great Front Desk staff...GREAT food and service in the Restaurant (the salmon was exceptional)...GREAT Fitness facilities with an enchanting pool...GREAT location for pre/post cruise...and best of all - GREAT Platinum Recognition! We were upgraded to the Presidential Suite upon check-in. Quite a treat with a huge balcony and extremely large bathroom and dressing area. All staff were exceptionally polite and helpful. Rated 2 out of 5 by Not up to Westin standards This hotel is in a great location in relation to our second office. However, over the last few months/year we have seen the hotel continue to detiorate in condition and appearance. There are holes in walls, regular failures of elevators and a general "worn" appearance. More often than not, in the guest rooms appliances and outlets will not work. I like to use other Westin properties throughout the state as well, but this hotel is making me pause when considering other Westin properties. February 7, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Tired Princess This is a tired property not worthy of the Westin name. A worn out princess that has seen better days. Even Scarlet O'Hara can't turn the curtains into a dress. If you literately enjoy hearing everything that goes on in the hallway and thin thread bare sheets and hard as rock past their prime towels are your thing. You are welcome to visit not to mention that you can literally hear the I-95 traffic hum in your room. Beep beep! January 29, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Average This is an average facility and really lower tier compared to other Westin properties. The staff tries hard but this is a dated place that unless is renovated, will always have the dated feel. When the lounge is busy, service is slow as usually only one person works the area. Rated 4 out of 5 by Dependable Travel Hotel The Westin Hotel in North Lauderdale has been a dependable Quality Facility for visits at any time of the year. The staff tries to meet all your needs and the location is next to I-95 which can get you to any location in short order. January 2, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Hotel needs some refurbishment quick I was just in town for a quick night and needed a hotel near the highway to make sure I could get to my meeting on time. The hotel lobby was in terrible disrepair as were most common areas. The elevator on my floor (5), had a broken button, plate was compltely pushed in. The carpeting on my floow was terribly dirty and the hallway smelled. Although, my room seemed very clean, when plugging in something behind the nightstand, there were several months of dust back there. I have stayed almost 70 nights just this year, and this is the first time I have had a bad experience. November 27, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not please with our stay We were here attending the SANS Convention. our stay was for 7 days. upon checking in the door to our room was ajar. We were checking in at 5:30PM, and the room was not completely clean yet. At first we thought we were sent to the wrong room. We had also requested a Microwave and a refrigerator, but there was no microwave, and the refrigerator in the room did not work. It took us three calls and 4 hours later to receive both of them. While we were waiting for the room to be finished we thought we would relax in the pool area, when we went down to the pool, none of the outdoor lighting was turn on, it was so dark especially by the hot tub, that we almost missed it. We went to the front desk and asked if the lights worked, and they said they would turn them on, needless to say they weren't turn on until day 6 of our stay. Day 3 we came back to the room after a all day session with the conference to dirty sheets on the bed. We asked to speak to the manger, and a Representative, did talk to us and assured us that we would here from the manger, but she didn't write anything down, and didn't take any of our contact information to forward to the manager. We will not be staying there again, and the SANS rep stated that they would not be having the conference there again as well. November 25, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Getting Worse I've been staying at this hotel regularly for the past 2 years. The service is getting lazier each time I go. It just doesn't feel like a Westin. Incredible proximity to I-95!! November 20, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointed I recently stayed at this hotel. It was a nice hotel but not as nice as the photos on their website. It definitely needs some updating. I am disappointed mainly because I left an expensive item in my hotel room closet by mistake. I realized once I got to the airport and called the hotel. I was transferred to a voice mail box that was full so had to call back. I called back and left a message with front desk and they stated they would let someone know. Well, no one called me back. When I got back home I called again and again was transferred to a voice mail box that was full so had to call back. Again I left a message and this time was transferred to the housekeeping manager who has not called me back. I called again a day later and left a voice mail for the director of operations who has not called me back. I tried calling again last night and was put into a full voice mail box again! Now its been 4 days since I checked out and NO ONE has called me back. I am absolutely 100% positive I left this expensive item in my hotel room and the hotel will not acknowledge me. Rated 3 out of 5 by Decent hotel, average quality This Westin was fairly nice, but not quite as nice as majority of Westin's. I only needed to have a quick over night stay before going to airport, so it was Ok. Not sure If I would stay there long period. However, I was upgraded to the Governor's Suite room, which I presume is the best in the hotel. It was nice a spacious, but it had a bad smell to it. I'm not sure if it was a mildew smell, or smell from the rain or what, but it was bad. Parlor was very spacious, had 2 bathrooms. Restaurant food didn't look that appealing from what was on buffet and the menu. But I didn't eat there. And it was a little further from airport than I would have liked and what other Westin's typically are. It was about 10 miles from the airport. Not a bad hotel, but not excellent either. Good for an average stay.. November 12, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Consistently dissapointing I've stayed at this hotel multiple times over the last few months and have been consistently dissapointed with the experience. Concerns include: -room service taking along time and not being up to "Westin" quality once it finally arrived -awkward "junior suites" that are really just large rooms with regular furniture in them and large empty spaces -gym is outside the actual hotel building -elevators are brutal; it can take over 10 minutes for them to arrive -lack of attentiveness from management to guest concerns On a brighter note, the front desk staff have always been very friendly and accommodating. Rated 1 out of 5 by To many issues at this hotel.... I have been to this Westin a few times and there always seems to be a problem. However, this time there was more than just one problem. I had gone down there to work and I know I had a few long work days ahead of me. When I get there they put me in a great room. However the air conditioner never came on and I had to pack up all of my stuff and move. They said they would put me in a nearby room. They actually put me 2 floors down. The next day I worked 27 hours and just wanted to go to sleep only to find that they were putting carpet in the room right next door to me. When I asked for a room just to sleep for a little while, they said they couldn't because they had to be cleaned. Not that they were totally booked but that they needed to be cleaned. I said OK and I went back up and went to sleep as they stopped banging shortly after. I went back to work and worked another 12 hours and returned to the hotel and I just wanted to relax but all of a sudden I smelled a burning in my room. The air conditioner died and I had to move rooms yet again. This was close to midnight now. They moved me again but this time when I woke up I checked out. This was not a place I wanted to stay anymore. On my way out I let them know why I was checking out early and they gave me some SPG points and said they would give this information to the General Manager. I did get the points but never received a follow up from the GM. Not the service that I am used from a Westin. I would not recommend anyone from my company stay at this hotel as they definitely do not provide the service that other Westins do. October 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Anniversary My husband booked this hotel to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The entire hotel staff was very friendly The treated us like we were royalty. Even though there was a convention going on that weekend, it still did not seem to be overcrowded. We are going to make this an annual trip for our anniversary. This was our first time at the Westin, but it not be the last. The hotel looks just like the pictures on the website. September 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Home Away From Home I really cannot find enough positive things to say about this hotel and it's staff. I visit this property regularly for work and have yet to have a negative experience. The staff is friendly, accommodating and polite at all times. The rooms are beautifully maintained and the cleaning is meticulous. The Westin Heavenly Spa theme is woven throughout. It has a calm and serene feel, whether in the lobby, on the patio, by the pool, or simply relaxing in your room. When travelling, one less thing to pack is always a plus. They have superior toiletries that you will not find at other hotels. It makes getting packed for travel easier, and the hotel experience much better. As I stated, I stay here often for business trips. It can be tough to travel so frequently and typically includes long days that start with business breakfast and ends with business dinners. Coming back to the beautiful Westin after a long day makes it much better! They are typically waiting in the lobby after work serving snacks and refreshments. Returning to your room is always as pleasure as they are cool, clean and tidy! Last week, due to weather, I was ultimately stranded in FL another night. After many hours waiting in the airport I was exhausted and just wanted to relax. Before phoning home to my family to let them know, my first call was to the Westin to see if they could take me back for an additional night. Jake took my call and let me know that there was space available. I was so relieved. Upon arrival at the Westin Jake was at the front desk, friendly and welcoming. I did not have to say much about my afternoon for him to understand that it must have not been a pleasant experience. When I went up to my room it was a superior corner unit that was absolutely beautiful. While being away from home an unplanned night was not ideal, this certainly helped make it much more enjoyable. I was so grateful! Thank you Jake and the rest of the team at the Westin for going above and beyond at all times! It is truly appreciated! September 19, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Poor customer service A nice very friendly very competent woman handled my check in by the name of Lindsey. However she did not have my proper room. And apologetically assigned me to room 802. The carpet in this room was not clean, was rolling up and appeared to have lost its stretch. My experience in the restaurant was reprehensible. The buffet lacked tidiness and the food was lukewarm. No one came out to seat me. Finally after a long wait, a very arrogant man sat me and took my coffee order. It took him 11 minutes to bring me a cup of coffee because he was to busy talking to his fellow servers. Then a female server came to take my order, who was totally incompetent. Upon my departure my bill was $20.14 I gave her a $100 bill 21 minutes later she returned with the incorrect change. Upon my departure when I checked out the fool at the desk was a joke. I gave him 3 hundred dollars in cash. I asked him for a receipt and you would have thought I had asked him for his first-born child. I have been staying in this hotel for 13 or 14 years and have never seen it so incompliantly run. September 9, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Always a great experience! The hotel and serivce is always spectacular! I live in Florida and check-in for weekend get aways. The pool and hot tub options are my favorite. I also enjoy the breakfast to dine in. Lots of cooked to order or regular breakfast. Close to malls like Aventura in North Miami Beach and Fort lauderdale malls. The beach is close as well. Very great value for location, resort, and price for overall stay. August 19, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Expect better from a Westin! I travel for work almost weekly, and almost always stay at an SPG. I do this in part because I can expect a level of quality and service, and I generally don't have time to have someone come up to my room to fix or deliver me something. However, this was not the case at this Westin. It feels old and dated. First, after checking in and getting into the elevator, I got stuck in the elevator going to my room. This turned out to be a very scary and unpleasant experience, and the hotel ended up shutting down elevator #2 for repairs. I was in there for probably less than 5 minutes, but it was a terrible few minutes. The elevator kept jumping up and down, and I had visions of the elevator crashing to the floor. I actually crouched down on the floor because I thought the elevator might crash. I had to hit the call button 3 times, and the first two times a woman nonchalantly replied that there were sending someone, as if I had asked for an iron. The third time a different woman finally stayed on, likely because I was screaming for fear as the elevator jumped up and down to different floors. I really thought it would crash to the floor. Finally the elevator opened, and I jumped out immediately. I got into a different elevator and made it to my room. But the worst part of this all was that no one called or came to my room to apologize for this. Also, my shower/tub leaked. Again, I didn't have time to call and have someone fix this but it was rather annoying, and I'm sure the next guest would appreciate it being fixed. I did email the manager who replied back the next day, saying she would contact management. July 26, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointment Not sure what I expected, but this hotel certainly didn't meet my lowest standards. It is in a weird industrial park, that seems to not be near anything. The rooms are old, my ceiling was cracked, and the air conditioning smelled like mold. I will say I was very happy with the hotel staff, but they weren't enough to warrant July 15, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Unchaperoned Youth Normally I love my stay. However this visit I had to call the front desk daily because of the loud noise and smoke due to being in the same wing as a group of teenager. Very restless nights July 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Choice for the Area Stayed here for two days of business meetings in the area, which proved to be a excellent choice. This will be my first SPG pick when returning to the area for either work or play. The hotel staff I encountered were all exceptional, outgoing, and well-trained. Good systems seem to be in place. All service delivery needs were prompt and exacting. Love the preferred parking lot for Platinum members. Pool, gym and restaurant are all excellent. Great breakfast buffet. Room upgrade for Platinum and 50% off food and beverage is hard to beat. I didn't want to leave. Highly recommend for the business traveler. June 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great hotel for business travel I've stayed at this Westin a few times - usually just for one-nighters. The location is really the only negative although its pretty convenient there isn't much around it. It's clean, rooms are very nice and they are extra-recognizing of the Starwood status. Rated 5 out of 5 by Very nice hotel. Would return We stayed at the Westin prior to going on a cruise along with 2 other couples. The rooms were very nice. They were clean and nicely decorated. The pool area was also well maintained. We enjoyed our stay and would return. We would also recommend for short stay. Not a lot nearby. You really need to have a car. April 23, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by rude your staff is rude, my check in was rude, i sat in your breakfast buffet , i ate and finished without anyone greeting me our asking me if i needed a drink, people around me where being served. and i had to get up to ask for a check, your website also said it was a twenty to twentyfive dollar cab fare from the airport, thats not correct it costs me forty two dollars. your rooms where exceptionally clean and comfortable. this was a first day of my vacation, im glad the rest of the week was better. March 28, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not up to Westin standards While not a frequent guest, I've stayed at this Westin several times over the past years. It was hard to believe how much the hotel has declined over the past few years since I last stayed there. Westin offers a clean, crisp experience and the facilities always seem well cared for. This Westin seemed tired and (I hate to say it) a bit shabby. The floors and surfaces of the public areas and restaurant were simply not clean. The room smelled musty. The staff seemed a bit disinterested. The pool area had stained deck chair cushions. This hotel is not worthy of the Westin reputation. March 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Always a Pleasure. This was my 3rd stay in the past 3 months and as always, it was a pleaure. Doug Hope, the hotels GM, does an excellent job with his team here. For those of you that are Platinum level you will appreciate the upgrades, special parking area and 50% off food. On this most recent trip I had an associate with me and the front desk was kind enough to upgrade him to an Executive Suite, while I received the Presidential suite. They really know how to treat the elite level members of SPG. March 12, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Many issues Assigned room 517 just after midnight. Floor lamp had bulb hanging loose with exposed wiring. Desk lamp inop. Moved to room 1000. Room has an unpleasant odor. Too late to make another switch. Iron full of corrosion. Two more irons brought to the room were also contaminated with rust and residue. Could not iron a white dress shirt. Could not log in to wifi. No desk phone. Bed phone defective. It was two AM before I got to bed after a 14 hour duty day and having been up since 7:00 AM. Next morning, breakfast meats in the buffet were cold. March 6, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by This hotel needs a refresh The carpet is worn and unlike other Westin's nothing in the lobby pops and really draws you in. I had issues with the ice machines (on multiple floors) and the internet was spotty at best. The beds are still the most comfortable in the industry and the staff provided excellent service to try to make up for the problems with the property. However, I'm not a person that wants to call for service or help. I'd rather you just have everything work to begin with. I didn't hate the hotel and I wouldn't have an issue staying there again but I also can't say I would recommend it. February 28, 2013
