Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Time I needed a room for a girls night out and the staff was so helpful. They were able to get us three connecting rooms so we were able to stay in close proximity to eachother. We had a blast and the staff was so responsive when we asked for various items like sppons, sheets, pillows ect. June 11, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Enjoyed my stay, but... The hotel was very nice & what I would expect from a Westin. I was, however, disappointed to discover that when I wanted to print out a boarding pass, there was a per-minute fee for the computer and a charge for the printer. I did not use the hotel printer but left my conference early to get my boarding pass at the airport. November 9, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Unsatisfied customers Upon arrival, the front desk was very nice and helpful. The lobby is beautiful, but the hotel is in need of an upgrade. The room was very dark, and the desk outlets are inconveniently located. There was no vending area in the entire hotel, only the ridiculously-priced snacks in the room. After searching for an ice bucket for 10 minutes, it smelled so badly we didn't dare use it. The only helpful employee was housekeeping. We stayed one night to attend a football game the next afternoon. We missed the breakfast, so we went to Shula's to grab some lunch before heading to the game. The hostess at Shula's was very rude and short and asked if we had a reservation. We weren't aware we needed one, so as she sighed heavily, she informed us we would have to wait while she "checked to see if someone could wait on us." After 10 minutes, she informed us someone would get our table prepared. It would be about three minutes. 10-15 minutes later we were still waiting, so we left. It was a very smug and snooty greeting considering we paid $255/night to stay in the hotel and we were not just people walking in off the street to eat. It was a very overpriced, unpleasant experience. October 21, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Better choices downtown I was in town for the Big 10 Championship football game 11/30/12. I don't like hotels with the electronic mini frig and if the $5 candy bar moves, you get charged for it. This hotel even had a couple more sensors on the desk for overpriced bottle water. In fact, all the plugs were occupied which lead me to charge my phone from an outlet behind the chair. Hence, I left my charger behind. I called a couple hours after check-out and Security went up to the room and found it. They assured me it would be there for me. My husband, who was still in town, forgot to stop by and pick it up. I called the next day and Security offered to mail it to me IF I gave him my credit card number over the phone. I was not comfortable giving my credit card number over the phone especially for only $2. I would be back in town the following weekend to pick it up. When I arrived a week later, the front desk clerk told me the computers were down and they could not locate the charger without it. The clerk took my address and phone number and promised to mail it to me. When the clerk learned that option was already offered to me by Security if I gave the man my credit card number over the phone, he was shocked and wanted to know the person’s name. [My instincts were right and the Security employee shouldn’t have asked for my credit card number.] The clerk assured me when the computers were running, he would over-night the charger to me. Well, another week has passed and I have not received my charger. I called today, and the front desk clerk, Emily, would not refer my call to the manager and instead forwarded the call to Security (the same people who wanted my credit card number) who did not answer the phone. Rated 2 out of 5 by How do I get a receipt? Ok hotel -- service sub par. Long lines to checkin/out. Figured I could skip the line and get receipt online -- nope, they can't do that. Need to want 48 hours while call center requests receipt from hotel. Really? June 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This hotel is wonderful Best hotel we ever stayed June 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great service and location This hotel is in a convenient location in downtown Indianapolis. The staff was very helpful, and the club lounge was nice (evening apps and morning breakfast items). Several of the staff went out of their way to make sure that I had a nice stay and found my way around the downtown area. The rooms are what you would expect at a Westin-- very nice and quiet. A good business or convention hotel. The only drawback was that the hotel restaurant is an expensive steak restaurant. The menu looked great, but I wasn't in the mood for a $50 steak. Rated 3 out of 5 by Noisy and Complicated My husband and I were told at check-in that we needed our room keys to access the elevators, which I understand, but we were not told how to use the key to use the elevators. We, along with other guests had to fend for ourselves when using the elevators for the first time. I was also surprised when I had to use my room key to get ice from the floor I was staying on. Do you have a problem with people stealing ice from a floor that you need a key to access anyway? We were in a corner room on the ninth floor and we heard nothing but slamming doors and other people's conversations all night long. May 6, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by poor response time Room themostat was not working to cool room. Called front desk they said engineerring would address it...they did 45 minutes later which made me late to my business meeting. It did not get fixed properly. So the next business day I left my room to return and found my door open with an engineering person working on same unit. Not Happy. I had another appoint to be at and couldn't dress and shower with him in the room. Desk compensated me with a $50 credit May 16, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not what we expected from a Westin hotel We were placed in a 14x14 room that they considered to be a special room with benefits on the 15th floor. By checking the layout provided on the back of the door, it was the ONLY room this size & smallest on the entire floor. All night there was a continual clanging on pipes above us and beginning at 7 am more maintenance above. DID NOT sleep a wink!!! For the cost I was very disappointed! Not sure if we will give this hotel another try. December 31, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Pricey and room cleaning service late Two of the nights I did not get back to my room until 5 pm from business and had to call to get my room cleaned up because they still did not do it. It caused an incovenience. Thought the hotel was pricey and parking was expensive and everyone has their hand out for a tip. May 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Over the top accommodating We live less than 100 miles away. We checked in for my sons college graduation hoping to avoid stress of having to drive early in the morning and worry about traffic. Graduation ran long and the staff was very accommodating. My youngest son is handicapped and will never attend college. So this was a big deal for me. The Westin went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. The exceptional staff makes this hotel the best we have ever stayed in. May 12, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mother's Day weekend This hotel was centrally located we felt secure during our stay. The lobby was impressive, we actually spent time in the lobby relaxing with friends after a wedding we attended. The next time we visit this wonderful city we plan to stay at this hotel. May 16, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Quality Staff and Great Location The staff was very helpful and when traveling for business that makes long days better. The hotel is in easy walking distance to restaurants. The only minor issue is the parking is expensive. July 3, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent facility and locatio Everything was excellent except, I had requested a 2:00 pm check-in since we were attending a wedding at 4:00 pm, about 4 miles away. I knew that you would be full on Friday night ue to the Marathon, however, I have traveled enough to know not every room is cleaned at the same time (by 3:00 pm). I also realized that a disclaimer was in place that you would try to meet my expectation, but as a Starwood member I thought I would have a chance at che May 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect location Great spot. Right on the start line! May 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Race Weekend Our family had 3 runners in the Indy MiniMarathon this year. The corral for the runners was right outside the hotel on Washington St. The hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly. The hotel is connected to the Convention Center by a walkway which made it easy to go to the race expo and pick up the race packets. Even at full capacity the hotel was quiet and comfortable. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else for the Indy Mini. May 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by great location staff was great and bedding was comfortable May 16, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Average experience I travel to Indy on a weekly basis. Location: - Easy access (< 0.5 mi) to the Wapahani Trail by the river. There's enough trail to do at least a 4.5 mile run (total). - A few good dining options close by. I like Panera Bread, Champps, Pita Pit, and Cafe Patachou Service: - Front desk people are generally friendly and willing to help out for special requests - Sometimes it's hard to get a hold of somebody via your room phone Food: - Snacks in the club room are great (water bottles, yogurt, juice, sometimes fruits, chips, snack bars, etc.) - The breakfast provided in the club room is SPG standard, nothing great. It would be great to have something freshly prepared instead of the typically stale SPG eggs/toast/etc. Some kind of collaboration with Cafe Patachou would be AMAZING. Fitness Center: - Workout facilities are pretty solid options with plenty of space. Bed: - Very comfortable, though I typically bring my own pillow, since I'm pretty picky Bathroom: - Dual shower-heads don't add much to the experience - I've had to switch rooms multiple times because the tubs would not drain - No bathroom vents make it difficult to shave after showering Decor: - Parts of the room have been updated (i.e. wallpaper, tv's) - Parts of the room need to be renovated (carpet, furniture, bathroom vents) - Room feels a bit stuffy April 16, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great staff, great service The Westin provided great service during my 11 day stay for a convention. Convenient to the Convention Center with an enclosed walkway access, the hotel could not have been better. The staff were exceptionally attentive, the best I have encountered in the past year while traveling on business. I was there during the exceptionally hot weather in early July, yet the room remained comfortably cool, thanks to the advice to keep curtains closed which the staff also attended to. The hotel is also very convenient to other events and restaurants downtown. And the downtown area is alive with evening attractions and safe for walking. The rooms are comfortable and quiet, especially welcome after a long and busy convention day. August 13, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Rude, rude, rude I have worked in the hotel business in the past. So I understand that dealing with large numbers of people, such as a wedding group, can be difficult. However, it does not mean that Customer Service is not needed. I have never stayed anywhere and felt that I was an inconvenience to the people that worked at the hotel, until my stay at the Westin downtown Indianapolis. The younger man that works in the valet was one of the only people that I would describe as polite and helpful. I wish I would have got his name, but at that point I was so happy to be leaving that I didn’t think about it. I would not recommend staying at this hotel. I hated having to go and talk to anyone at the front desk. There was so much miscommunication between everyone that works there. I would call from my room and be told one thing, only to find out that when I would get to the front desk that what I was told on the phone was not an option. When there is miscommunication within an organization it should never be the customers fault. The front desk staff of this hotel would point their fingers at each other and not handle things in a professional and productive manner. The word rude is the best way to describe those that work at this hotel. November 21, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not bad for a conference, but... The hotel is fine, nothing really memorable about it though. The staff is very accommodating, except for one big exception. After checking out I realized that I forgot my Ray Ban sunglasses in my room. I got a key to go back to retrieve them. When I entered the room I saw that the cleaning staff had turned over my room. Went to the cleaning cart on my floor and asked the staff if they had seen my sunglasses in room 821. The answer was they had and they threw them away. This really disappoints me. Why would they do that? April 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Stay The room and service were great as always. May 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great place to stay The room and accommodations were delightful. Downtown Indianapolis is beautiful. May 9, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by not recommended my suit and shirt for my second day interview was stained by the uncleaned iron in the room. the manager promised to laundry them for me. thank of goodness I double checked with them in the night and next early morning, otherwise they could only make it ready as early as the next afternoon. the curtain is broken also they need a better charger outlet on the table the host in the restaurant for breakfast is not friendly, she madly emphasize Their rule to tip the waiter directly. check-in is also slow due to the computer problem Anyway, they kind of made it up for me and at least did not ruin my interview fortunately. this is the only positive part for my stay. Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Choice!! This was our first experience in staying in downtown Indianapolis and was extremely pleased we chose The Westin. Very friendly, very accommodating staff along with a clean room --- just what we needed!!! Our only disappointment was the "steak" restaurant ... where the food was VERY pricey for the quality of food received -- not a place I would visit again for dinner. April 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Westin went above and beyond! I hosted a tasteful and lovely Bachelorette Party on May 3. The Westin helped make the event superb -- we were well cared for and received excellent attention all weekend. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. May 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hotel The hotel, staff and upgrades are Fantastic. May 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Remodeled and Spacious Room I have stayed at this Westin a few times over the years. This last time it was clear that rooms had been renovated. That first fresh smell of new carpet when you walk in the room is met by all of the other pleasures of a new room, including bathroom. The room was incredibly spacious. While the desk in the main room was awkwardly facing the corner with the TV/bureau behind you, I actually liked it that way. There was a second desk, which was in a completely separate section (separated by the bathroom) of the room (Room was 1540) in a roomy, closet and dressing area. Bathroom was large (no tub which I didn't need) with open shower. The room may have been accessible, as there was a seat in the shower, although it still had the rain shower setup and hand tools as well. The bench is probably very nice for women shaving their legs. Rated 3 out of 5 by Not the typical Westin Cleanliness The staff at Westin's are always A-1. I had issues with my bathtub not being cleaned regularly. Also, I wanted my sheets switched (I had some coffee drops) and each day I would pull back the top covers to expose the stain and still wasn't changed. The bed and appointments are lovely. I did have to ask for more soap and shampoo. Also, someone had cleared out most of the mini-bar but never re-stocked during my 6 day stay. Not an issue but I am watching to make sure that I was charged. I had reported it to the front desk on the first day and the a couple of days later. March 16, 2014
