Rated 4 out of 5 by Maximus Botique style Westin - Excellant location!
Unabashedly stylish! The staff super friendly and property is the the right balance of style and convenience. The bar- tender even brought a dog dish of water for my Boxer so we could all enjoy a drink in the small but stylish lobby lounge. Super location and great restaurants (yummy Italian!) just steps away!
I will say the hotel policy of Not leaving your pet in the room unattended is ridiculous considering they consider themselves pet friendly, and upon check were just that - very friendly! Other than that silly rule i would recommend it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Grace1113 This hotel is fine.
I usually stay at Starwood hotels and have had great time. I chose this time as well. Overall, it was fine but wasn't as good as I expected.
I used valet parking service. The staff was great but I found small scratches on the back bumper. I can't complain to hotel since I don't know if it happened at the hotel parking lot. All I know is there was no scratch when I went there. And the only place I parked during the day was the hotel.
I like Starwood hotels and am going to stay in a few weeks. Hopefully, I can have a good experience again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Word Great Stay
the Portland Westin was very comfortable and a great place to stay. Hard to beat the location and the staff made it a great experience. I'll definitely wil be back. Stayed 3 nights, the staff was great, from the moment I checked in, front desk was extremely friendly and provided great options for restaurants around town. I valeted my car and each time I was greeted by name and car was always ready when i called for it.
The food in the restaurant was very good. Ate at the restaurant and ordered room service, each time the food was great, using fresh local foods. The price was steep which is unfortunate. There too many great restaurants in Portland where you can get just as good or better meal for a lot less and within walking distance of the hotel.

I was so impressed with my recent stay at the Portland Westin. I had not been there for 6 months and the valet, Ali, greeted me by name when I pulled up to the hotel. IMPRESSIVE!!! Everyone went above and beyond to insure my stay was confortable. When I found out last minute that the facility I was to make a presentation at did not have a projector, Alyssa made sure she had one delivered to my room in plenty of time for my presentation. I was so relieved and my presentation was a success!!! Thank you to all at the Westin Portland!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by crb27 Unfortunately, the room temperature couldn't be changed
The hotel is conveniently located and the staff quite nice. Unfortunately, it's difficult to sleep well when the room temp is 70. The thermostat was ineffective. When I called for help, I learned that Maintenance would need to fix it and my option was to change rooms (at midnight) or open the window. I opened the window - street cleaners and early delivery traffic added to the ambiance. Night two - the temp was down to 67. I opened the window again. And yes, I had checked before leaving that morning that Maintenance would address the problem. No one followed up with me to see if the problem had been resolved to my satisfaction. As my first stay in a Westin, I am a bit disappointed. Don't know that this will be my first choice next time I'm in Portland.

Rated 5 out of 5 by seattlelite11 Clean, comfortable, and great staff
Have been staying at the Westin Portland for past decade and the customer service has been better in recent years. (the hotel also got renovated) The front desk staff named Cody was very friendly and exceptionally nice which made our stay much better during the holidays. I forgot the name of the front desk staff during the night shift, but he was also very nice. And of course, the valet staff are ALWAYS superb. Will be back! The only thing I was sad about was that the shower head was no longer a heavenly shower head in our bathroom.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Bruce333 No reliable Internet service
Spent what seemed like 30 min with tech support on the phone trying to get Internet access. It worked for about 20 and then gave up. Hotel charged me for phone call! Unable to watch Beaver game available on cable channels. No AM radio available to listen to it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kase The hotel is nice and clean.
The hotel is well maintained and the staff is friendly. However, I requested a quiet room and was told at check-in that I was placed on the"quiet" side of the hotel.
Each and every morning of my 3-night stay my wife and I were woken-up at 5:15 AM to the very loud noise of a truck dumping glass products at the street level. And, during the day you could here a bell ring of what I am guessing is a parking garage warning system.
If this is the "quiet" side I'd hate to see what the loud side is like.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PrincetonTraveler Classy and comfortable
Upscale property with friendly, professional staff. Good location, with easy access to all points of interest. Quick and courteous check-in and check-out. Rooms are clean and well kept; bathrooms are particularly spacious and luxurious. Rooms we had both were quiet and comfortable: fresh air, pleasant views and no noise. Short walk to varieties of shops and excellent restaurants (as well as famous food trucks). Picasso, fireplace and built-in iPads (all in lobby areas) put this Westin a cut above similar upscale hotels.

Rated 2 out of 5 by amc235 Disappointed
My husband and I were traveling in Oregon and stayed here one night. We usually have great experiences at Westins but not here. We were unable to access the internet after paying for it. We were on the phone with the help line for over 15 mins with no resolution. When I contacted the front desk, the man was also unable to help and had a condensending tone when I explained the problem. He said he would comp the internet but never did.
The rooms are nice but that is it. Would recommend Westins but not this location.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SantaFeSandy47 Staff & Hotel Meets All Needs
My husband and I have now stayed here twice for 4 nights each, as a result of using our SPG points and being SVO owners. It is a truly outstanding hotel on all counts! If we needed anything, it arrived quickly and with a smile. The one and only shortcoming is the little fitness center--certainly adequate, but not great. While I haven't met the General Manager, I think he must be incredible to instill the work ethic, efficiency and attentiveness in the staff. Also, the restaurant and room service is outstanding!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappoint Disappointed
I am very disappointed that we payed so much for so few amenities. Westin should be ashamed of charging guests so dearly for WiFi service in this day and age. I work in a financially struggling urban community hospital that realizes the necessity of its patients and visitors to have internet access and therefore provides free Wifi. It is a courtesy and should not be charged. There is also no pool, and breakfast was much too overpriced to consider with such great food and restaurants in the vicinity.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Grace1113 It's fine.
I've often used Starwood hotels in many places. I stayed in the Westin as well in Portland. Overall, the service was just as much as I expected. It was enjoyable except one thing. I used valet parking service and there was a scratch on my car. But I know I can't complain about this because I don't know when and how it happened. All I know is that it wasn't there before I went to the Westin. I like staying at Starwood hotels and they are mostly good, but I was a little bit dissatisfied this time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Essi Best room in the hotel, huh? Does that include the flooding?
So I took a chance at staying here to save a little as compared to the other Starwood property nearby that I love. Big Mistake.
At check-in, I was told that there were at full capacity until I told them my name and they saw I was platinum. The next morning I took a shower which ended up flooding my bathroom and into the hallway which I spent the next ten minutes trying to dry up with all of the towels. Luckily they sent up a repair man to work on the shower as I shaved and brushed my teeth.
I didn't receive an apology, nor an offer to move to another room, nor even a courtesy follow up voicemail.
As for the room, it seemed a lot smaller than I would have expected, and the interior was rather dated. Had I not gone through the flooding, I would have given 3 stars as the rooms need a bit of updating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fay4 Truly Tremendous!
We have staryed at this Westin several times, and took our friends with us on this visit. Everything was wonderful! I forgot our toothbrushes, and the front desk sent some up immediately! We had a VERY late dinner one night, and wanted a drink at the beautiful bar before retiring to bed. The bartender was very accomodating, even though it was quite late! Breakfast at the Daily Grill is always a great experience! We left relaxed and rejuvenated in a short period of time! Thank you again, Westin!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pineapple93 Great Location, Great Stay
Just what we have come to expect from Westin. Great staff, comfortable rooms, great bed and bathroom. Good value for the cost of the room, and central location although I did not park a car. Would recommend a corner room, if possible. Away from elevators, and very quiet. Small lobby but enjoyable bar area. Very clean with nice touches throughout hotel. Only 2 elevators so a bit slow but fine. About a 3 minute walk from MAX light rail and Pioneer Square. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Paul9 excellent could be better with little things
overall we love this hotel and with our favorite room now our downtown favorite. but little oversights need improving: mixed up the newspapers virtually every day; housekeeping came when we asked them not to, interrupting a rest; room service left off napkin/setting giving us only one when I ordered for two; a couple of other little things.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shari1973 Regular Portland visitors who found a GREAT new hotel
In the past 3 years, we have recently become frequent visitors of Portland driving in from Vancouver, BC, Canada. We enjoy the finer things in life and have high expectations when it comes to hotels. We were regulars at another 4 star boutique hotel but it had become a bit more worn than we would like. We decided to give the Westin Portland a try and found that not only is it centrally located and walking distance from great shopping, but it's also right near some amazing restaurants and food trucks. The beds are heavenly as one would come to expect but the service here by the staff was not only exceptional, but it was friendly without being stuffy. The room was near immaculate as if it had JUST been renovated. The hotel is also very quiet and we would recommend this hotel to anyone (and already have!).

Rated 1 out of 5 by Skeevo Like a time warp back to 2003
Come on, Westin - it's 2013.
1. You have flat screen TVs in the room, but no HD? That's like buying a Ferrari and putting 4 spare tires on it. Not what I expect from a "luxury" hotel.
2. I have to pay for WiFi in the room? That's terrible. Again, this isn't 2003. WiFi is as essential as having running water in the room. Nothing I hate more than a "luxury" hotel nickel and dime-ing me for things that should be included in the room rate.
3. $35 for parking? I hope you're paying the valets well, because they're not getting a tip from me at that price. The lot a block away charges under $10 for overnight parking.
4. My bed was short sheeted! the bottom sheet didn't go all the way to the end of the bed. I made this clear to the cleaning staff and I think it was worse the second night. Get some sheets that fit, or train your staff on how to properly fit them to the bed.
If my choices are to go to one of the "economy" chains and spend $90 per night, but get HDTV and WiFi included, or stay at a "luxury" hotel and pay more than twice as much to get old technology, I'm going for cheaper and better.
Get your act together, Westin. I'm willing to pay for luxury, but in 2013 there's more to luxury than a fancy shower head and a bed that's really not much different than what the other chains are offering now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nanette2013 Great downtown location!
The staff was very helpful, the restaurant very nice with delicious food and friendly wait staff. I was a little disappointed with the size of our room; the king size bed only allowed for a desk and chair and one upholstered chair tucked in the corner not facing the television. There was only about 4 feet of space between the desk (facing the window) and bed, and the wall and bed on the other side. It felt cramped compared to other Westin facilities we have stayed at.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Garth47 Thrilled again
This was our second trip to the Westin in Portland and we were just as thrilled with our stay as our first.
Our first visit was in February for just one night and when we pulled up in July the bellman actually remembered us. What a pleasant surprise.
The rest of the staff was very pleasant and efficient and our room was extremely comfortable.
This is our favourite Westin hotel because it is so quaint and comfortable with a staff that goes above and beyond every time.

Couldn't ask for a better hotel to stay. Very spacious and clean! Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area, which was a big help for us since we were first time visitors to Portland. Even answered our silly question of "Should we tip the guy who pumps our gas?" without laughing at us (the answer is no, FYI). And the location was great! Right downtown, within walking to basically everywhere you need to go.
Definitely will stay here next time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Apple63 Very Pleasant
This hotel is a recently renovated property which almost seems like a boutique - very charming yet extremely modern finishings. The hotel is very conveniently located downtown within walking distance of all major attractions and transit. We found the bar and restaurant very enjoyable and the food quality was very good. The staff were great with recommendations for local nightlife and restaurants. A very enjoyable stay for business or pleasure.

I travel weekly which includes 2 -3 trips a month to Portland. I love this hotel! I appreciate being greeted by name from the valet to the front desk and even in the daily grill. I enjoy the quiet luxury of the rooms and the convenient location of the hotel itself. And let's not forget about the heavenly bed - I even bought one for my home. Traveling can be taxing at times which is why I like staying at the Westin. It's my home away from home!

Rated 4 out of 5 by G2KT Nice hotel but parking is a bit of a problem
Hotel is very comfortable, and the rooms were spacious. Lounge and bar area were well done and attractive.
Excellent location in downtown Portland and friendly staff.
The street loading and unloading area is small and difficult to get room to park and unload. Staff was helpful, but we had to circle the block 3 times before we found a space to park.
Parking is $35 a day. And not waived or discounted for Platinum SPG members.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Jimmies777 Staff Needs Help
Overall the hotel was great, but the staff needs to realize that having the "Transients" come off the street and sit with your customers in the bar/restaurants is very disruptive. In one case the staff asked me if I was being bothered, leaving it to me to have this person be kicked out. The staff needs to catch this before it happens and not allow this type of stuff to occur.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Betsy1122 Nice hotel!
I was looking for a nice hotel in Portland where my dog was welcome, so the Westin was a great choice. The hotel is very nice, really pretty and right in downtown. Everyone at the hotel was super friendly and helpful. The room was very nice and the bathroom was humongous with a fantastic shower with a rain shower head. I will definitely stay here again if I need a hotel room in Portland. (My dog enjoyed the stay too!)
