Rated 5 out of 5 by Wedding reception and two night stay My best friend and bride-to-be booked this hotel for her reception and for guests staying from out-of-town. I was unfamiliar with it and the area and I was won over by both. The staff was fantastic, truly making you feel valued and important; the facilities are perfect, from the pool, to banquet room, to the supreme comfort of the bed; And the ease of access to shopping in the suburbs and outing to downtown Chicago were excellent. One small complaint was the lack of fan in the bathroom-- the dual shower head was so enjoyable and the consistency of the water so perfect, I stayed in a bit longer than usual and steamed it up quite a bit. I felt like the room took on some of that moisture and everything could have dried out if there was a fan/ventilation. I would most certainly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area. I mentioned my wife's birthday at check in, and to our surprise when we returned from shopping, there was a card and slice of chocolate cake for her from the staff! Very thoughtful and appreciated! Love the Heavenly bed and shower, and had a relaxing weekend there...highly recommended! May 20, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not up to a Westin standard Friendly and helpful staff but the hotel is of poor quality. They advertise 24 hour room service but one can only order a Caesar salad or turkey club. There is no alcohol available after 10 pm and when asked about the mini bar I was told I had to have it ordered before checking in. The brunch at Shula's consisted of old dry scrambled eggs, cold bacon and oatmeal that looked days old -really. December 31, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice Stay The hotel room was a standard Westin room as expected. All rooms open to a large open interior area. Some of the carpeting on the walkways around the floor is ready for update, but the room was very neat and clean and updated. This hotel is in a quiet business park area. The hotel is just west of O'Hare airport and I was concerned about jet noise, but it was not a problem as we did not hear any jet noise in the room. September 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful!! We hosted our wedding ceremony and reception this past weekend and I have to say we absolutely LOVED it! Working with Samantha was the best! She responded to us right away with every inquiry however minor it may have been and led us every step of the way! We never were in for any surprises! Even on the day of our event she was there checking on us making sure everything was running on schedule and connecting with my family to see if there was ever anything that we needed. We received so many compliments on the food and the wait staff, everyone from the front desk to maintenance deserves recognition for such a wonderful job! We will be back year after year to celebrate our anniversary! April 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Hotel for a Wedding! We recently stayed at the Westin Chicago Northwest in Itasca because my daughter's wedding was held there. The hotel gave us a block of 25 rooms at a very good rate at first and were very accomodating when we greatly exceeded that number. The wedding was perfect, from the venue, to the prep rooms, bridal suite and food and beverage. Service was outstanding everywhere. We couldn't have asked for more September 17, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not What We Expected As an SPG Gold Preferred member with Starwood, what greeted us at the Westin Chicago Northwest was a little overwhelming. #1 A MagCom convention was in progress, which brought a throng of loud, boisterous girls screaming for their heroes. That was understandable, but as the night got longer, these kids were running rampant throughout the hotel, We called security to keep the kids away from our door. Some of the kids were up most of the night. I don't believe security was ready for this challenge. 2. We checked in at 3, and our 2 rooms were not ready. One of them opened up, and we stored all of our luggage in one. We went to a nearby shopping mall; it wasn't until 6 PM that the hotel contacted us that our second room was ready. We've never had to wait that long for a room. Fortunately, the fact that we were gone from the hotel made that issue pretty moot. 3. When we got home, I received an email informing me that my credit card was charged almost $250 for a meal at Shula's. We were never there, and I can say that when I complained to the hotel about that issue, it was quickly rectified to our satisfaction. As a Gold Card Preferred member for over 10 years, we are used to a floor of our own with other SPG members living in "peace and harmony." I just believe that the hotel just may have bit off more than it could chew with this past weekend March 3, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not The Same Place as Last Year It was a horrible experience this year,the room next to us had a dog that barked non stop we asked to be moved and was told when we come back we can get a new room that didn't happen they were "sold out" the room carpet was stained, there was mold in the shower grout, the ice machine was broken and they couldnt get us any and we didn't realize that we had to pay $9.95 for wifi :( July 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Top notch! We happened across this beautiful hotel on a priceline bid one Spring. We absolutely LOVE it. It's reasonably priced and reasonably located to all area suburbs and attractions, including downtown Chicago. Our trips haven't been without some hiccups, but we continue to return a few times a year due to the phenomenal treatment we receive each visit. We won't stay anywhere else! September 10, 2012

The only negative I can think of on this hotel stay was the 5am fire drill but those things happen and there was a fire somewhere because we could smell the smoke. This certainly would not keep me away in the future because it was well handled and it showed that our safety was a top priority.. November 2, 2012

Rated 1 out of 5 by Sadly, customer service was lax and there was no AC! I checked in to the hotel on 5/19/14 with the hope of extending my reservation for an additional evening. I was told that they were completely booked for the night of 5/20/14 but was told by the front desk that in the event of a cancellation, they would call me immediately to let me know of an opening. It wasn't until I phone the Westin 800 number at 6 PM on the 20th to inquire as to rooms available within a 20 mile radius of Chicago that I was told that they had a room available at the Westin Itasca from which I had left that morning! I mentioned this to the front desk as I re-checked-in for the night of the 20th and they were not at all fazed by the series of events. During that night, there was quite a storm that passed by. I'm guessing that it perhaps knocked out the AC for the building because although I continued to lower the temp in my room, it continued to get hotter. My elevator companions (all perspiring!!!) told me that they had made mention of the increasing temp to the staff during the night and were given a fan but there was no additional explanation. While the bed was comfortable both nights, the temperature of the room certainly was not during my second night. Since I was traveling with my boss for the first nights (Platinum level) I was able to enjoy the buffet breakfast. The breakfast was delicious and the wait staff prompt and attentive. The hostess, however, was curt and thoroughly confused. How is it, in this day and age, that a hostess at a 4/5 star hotel chain is still using a list of guest names, crossing them off with a ruler, and making notations next the guest names??? Rated 2 out of 5 by Needs Serious Upgrades the building overall is old, not much you can do about that but the carpet had multiple very obvious stains, dark green carpet and white / black stains all over, the sofa and foot rest also had white stains, the pool is closed which should be indicated. Will not stay here again. October 3, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great venue for a wedding! We held our wedding ceremony and reception at this hotel on 1/11/14 and had a fabulous experience! From the time we booked through even weeks after the wedding, we have been so pleased! The Lakeside Pavilion is a gorgeous venue and worked so fabulously for both the ceremony and the reception. Cocktail hour in the Atrium lobby was fantastic and several guests commented on how much they enjoyed the space. Samantha Bauman was fantastic to work with and took away so much of the stress that most brides have to deal with! She was great! The food was really good, including the hors d'vours so Kudos to the chef! Mary Ann and Sue took great care of us during the reception and we are so grateful! For anyone planning a winter wedding, they have a great indoor staircase if you are doing a "first look" and it made for some really cute pictures. The terrace outside the Pavilion was also a great place to take pictures (and we could run inside the tent to warm up when we got cold). The room rates for our guests were great and we were thanked by many of them for keeping their costs in mind! Front desk staff was great when we were checking in and with passing out goodie bags to our guests. I am so pleased with how everything turned out and a huge thank you to everyone at the Westin who helped make our wedding day perfect! January 31, 2014

I have stayed here several times and staying here yourself is the only way to describe the true appreciation of the staff as well as the rooms. Thank you once again for a great stay! July 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hotel has Clean rooms The negative I had with my stay was when I left. I was lugging out my dog crate and a suitcase and the door staff continued with their conversation and stood there while I tried to open the door and get out. There was no offer of help October 24, 2012

Rated 4 out of 5 by Good hotel, great location. I stayed with my family in this hotel (room 521 and 528) from June 20 to June 23. It was a pleasant stay and we all were satisfied with the facility and services. The hotel is a big complex and the standard room is spacious (much larger than the average size of starwood hotels where I stayed before). During our stay, the front desk was busy and we had to wait a couple of minutes, but the housekeeping express line's response was quick and staff were friendly and helpful. And the lake view is great. Last but not least, free parking is great. There is one question I want to get response from the management of this Westin: there are "MAKE A GREEN CHOICE" cards in the rooms where we stayed, and we hang the cards on both rooms' doors during our stay, which means, according to my understanding, we will get 500 SPG star points for each night each room we declined housekeeping by hanging the cards on the doors. I haven't seen the awarded points posted to my SPG account. I am just wondering if it's gonna take a while to post the points or you just forgot it. I'd love to stay this hotel again next time when I am in Chicago. June 29, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by A well oiled machine--this hotel runs smoothly I have stayed here previously, always am impressed by the number of events the hotel hosts and the grace and ease with which it handles the number of people walking thru its doors. I did encounter some rowdiness one night at 3:45 am which woke me up--I think it was some exuberant wedding guests having a hard time settling down. May 12, 2014
