Rated 3 out of 5 by disappointed The bed, the experience was not heavenly. The comforter is way too heavy, and when you remove, where do you put it? The temperature of my room was stifling when I entered, and the sounds during the night were ominous at best. Very disappointing. Not of Westin quality. July 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The rooms are very nice. The hotel is very nice and the bed was comfortable. July 14, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Needs some adjustments... Our reservation got canceled and we don't know how. They could not accommodate our entire original reserved stay. Food and parking too expensive and no restaurant except Shulas! Couldn't get AC to work in our room July 11, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Rude, rude, rude I have worked in the hotel business in the past. So I understand that dealing with large numbers of people, such as a wedding group, can be difficult. However, it does not mean that Customer Service is not needed. I have never stayed anywhere and felt that I was an inconvenience to the people that worked at the hotel, until my stay at the Westin downtown Indianapolis. The younger man that works in the valet was one of the only people that I would describe as polite and helpful. I wish I would have got his name, but at that point I was so happy to be leaving that I didn’t think about it. I would not recommend staying at this hotel. I hated having to go and talk to anyone at the front desk. There was so much miscommunication between everyone that works there. I would call from my room and be told one thing, only to find out that when I would get to the front desk that what I was told on the phone was not an option. When there is miscommunication within an organization it should never be the customers fault. The front desk staff of this hotel would point their fingers at each other and not handle things in a professional and productive manner. The word rude is the best way to describe those that work at this hotel. November 21, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great hotel for convenience to locations We stayed at this hotel while attending a conference in town. The location of the hotal was in great proximity to the convention center as well as local restaurants and entertainment. All staff members were nice and helpful. The rooms were very quiet, especially ours that was right around the corner from the elevators and high traffic areas. The only two negatives were the size of the bathroom and the amount required to park your car everyday. June 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Food Would have been nice to have a not so expensive restaurant for breakfast and lunch. July 12, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Do not do breakfast at Shula's The Shula's breakfast experience was awful!! It started with a half cup of decaf coffee with a promise of a new pot brewing. Some 20 minutes elapsed with a return of what "might be decaf". Probably another 15 minutes passed and we inquired about our breakfast selection of a smoothie and a granola. The server indicated she would followup on our order after she placed an order for the newcomers. Other guests arrived after us, ate, paid and departed during our wait. We departed as the server offered to do a "to go" situation. We left with nothing but apologies from the Shula's manager and the server. We had been a winner of a silent auction gift certificate which had been donated by Westin to Indiana University Alumni group..It is a shame such a nice gesture by Westin turned into such a fiasco. Rated 3 out of 5 by Plumbing issues 1) I called at 6:30 PM to have the toilet fixed. I left for dinner and returned at 11:30. Toilet had NOT been repaired. I called again at 7:30 am the next morning. I left for breakfast and when I returned at 9:30 the toilet was still not fixed. I could not use my hotel toilet. 2) I was offered 1000 points. This is fair but I do not see them listed which means I need to find time to ask. 3) Where are the points for my two night stay? June 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Westin is Wonderful Our stay at the Westin was fabulous....the staff from the front desk to maintenance to servers and housekeeping were all welcoming and helpful. WTG! Kudos! July 8, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by not recommended my suit and shirt for my second day interview was stained by the uncleaned iron in the room. the manager promised to laundry them for me. thank of goodness I double checked with them in the night and next early morning, otherwise they could only make it ready as early as the next afternoon. the curtain is broken also they need a better charger outlet on the table the host in the restaurant for breakfast is not friendly, she madly emphasize Their rule to tip the waiter directly. check-in is also slow due to the computer problem Anyway, they kind of made it up for me and at least did not ruin my interview fortunately. this is the only positive part for my stay. Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice staff The staff went above and beyond. My son in law didn't know how to tie his tie for the wedding we were attending, so the bartender did it for us. Very nice!! July 7, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Noisy and Complicated My husband and I were told at check-in that we needed our room keys to access the elevators, which I understand, but we were not told how to use the key to use the elevators. We, along with other guests had to fend for ourselves when using the elevators for the first time. I was also surprised when I had to use my room key to get ice from the floor I was staying on. Do you have a problem with people stealing ice from a floor that you need a key to access anyway? We were in a corner room on the ninth floor and we heard nothing but slamming doors and other people's conversations all night long. May 6, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Again, no receipt. I ask for a receipt every time and only about 50% of the time do I receive one in my email. I need receipts to send to my company for reimbursement and I hate having to call the accounting office to get a new one. Please fix this. July 3, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by AC Issues I stayed July 6th and 7th in SPG King Suite 709 and the Bedroom AC was not up to the task of keeping the BR cool. When I first went to the room the BR AC was not cooling at all and after a half hour of waiting for the compressor to come on, which it didn't, I called the Front Desk to report the issue. I waited an hour and no one ever showed up we decided to go to dinner. We came back a few hours later and the AC was still not working. I called back down to the desk and reported the issue again and waited about an hour again no one showed up. I had to go into the BR and noticed the AC was cooling so I called back to the Front Desk to let them know it was working. Sometime during the course of the night the AC quit working again and I woke up in the middle of the night the bed and I were soaked with sweat. I changed clothes and went back to bed after finding a small dry spot to sleep. The next morning I went to the Front Desk to report the problem and was told it would be taken care of, they did provide some compensation, so we went to breakfast only to return to the room to find the bed made but still no AC. So I made my 4th or 5th call/trip to the Front Desk for the same issue to report the problem still wasn't fixed. About an hour later the 1st person showed up to my room that I saw to fix the issue. The AC worked great all day until, you guessed it, that night. For the 2nd night in a row I had wake up drenched in sweat, change clothes and find another dry spot to sleep. I went to the Front Desk again to report the issue again and was told that they couldn't compensate me again even though they never fixed the issue but offered me SPG points. I told the Front Desk person why would I want points for a hotel brand that I wouldn't be staying in again. All I got was a blank look. My girlfriend has been staying here for years for work and has told me that this is not the norm and we plan on coming back to Indy in Aug and has convinced me to give it one more try. July 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Comfortable and Convenient It's right on the edge of an active downtown and connects to the convention center. The Starbucks in the lobby doesn't open until 6:30am. Shula's is inside also. Pricey as expected. Open all day. But, again, not until 6:30. Internet is free in the lobby. Rather expensive in the room June 29, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by This hotel has many benefits. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff is exceptional. I agreed to 'Go Green' for ONE evening of the four evenings we stayed. I had to request clean towels and cleaning each of the two remaining days. The bathroom facet was broken and ignored. Upon arrival, make sure you know exactly what the care of your room will be. Other than these situations, it was acceptable. June 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great time First time I had been back to the Indianaoplis area. Our Mended Hearts had a conference there and love the hotel. Never expected the upgrade they gave me, it was very nice of them to do so! The room was awesome and the view was great. The staff were awesome in greating me from the time I arrived , to when I left!! Would stay there again when I get back up there. June 24, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Most convenient to Indiana Convention Center The Westin is the closest hotel to the Indiana Convention Center which is super convenient. That said, it was warm and muggy in all of the common areas and instead of that pleasant Westin scent, it smelled of bleach. June 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Meeting Site We were at the Westin Indianapolis for a conference. There are plenty of places within walking distance to eat. The workout facility was adequate. The meeting rooms worked great. Most meals that we were served were very good. Connected to above ground tunnels to a lot of the down town area. June 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Stay Green I am delighted to know that guests are rewarded for helping save the environment, with the $5 voucher each day we do not require room cleaning or new towels every day. June 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great place to stay. This place was at the center of many amenities. Walking distance to the zoo, state park, mall and many wonderful restaurants. July 1, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Hotel of Choice In Indy If available and somewhat affordable we will choose the Westin Downtown Indianapolis over any other. Usually the biggest problem is that the hotel is completely booked or the rates are over-inflated for special sporting events when we are traveling to Indy. However, you can not beat the comfort of the rooms (especially the Heavily Bed) and the location. The mall, food (Starbucks) and entertainment are all just a few steps away. As a general rule, I am usually happy if we can stay here for less than $200 a night (before tax and fees) on the weekend. Definitely meets (and sometimes exceeds) Westin standards. April 12, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Surprisingly non responsive I had an issue with my room and called the manager. 24 hours later I had not heard back from him. I am still waiting to get my bill, it was not put under my door, nor emailed to me. It is a nice hotel but service is not consistent with other Westin properties. June 27, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Hotel stay for work The hotel was average. Staff nice, but not exceptionally attentive, etc. The bathroom was a bit shabby, and the cleaning of the room was average. Would stay there again, but would hope that there would be some improvements. June 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hotel has great features Rooms updated and very clean July 2, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Continental breakfast not very good average stay. staff was reasonably friendly. parking expensive, continental breakfast not initially offered to gold member and it was not acceptable. June 29, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Dissapointing It was warm weather and no matter where we set the room temperature or how long the fan ran, the room temperature never changed. It was too warm to get a good night's sleep. The bathtub/shower drain was apparently plugged, as it was extremely slow to drain. No fan in the bathroom. Called for a change of a sheet and pillow case. Said they would be right up. After about 20 minutes we made a second call and they were promptly delivered. June 15, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by This hotel had good staff The staff was very friendly and helpful. June 30, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by We Love This Hotel We have stayed here many times. Used to use another large hotel. But here, we have always felt like we were "somebody" and not just a dollar maker for the place. They have recently remdeled the rooms and I am most pleased with what they've done. Not too fancy but definitely a long over do improvement. From the front desk to the valet, everyone always had a smile and a friendly vibe that came across with authenticity. My ONLY dislike is that they have moved the Club Level Lounge down to the lobby area. It was so much easier, and more convenient, when it was a floor or two away instead of 6 or 8 floors down. I liked being able to walk down the hall if I was on Club Level Floor. And with the door to the new lounge wide open, it seems anyone could just walk in, whether they paid for the privaledge or not. But still The Westin Indianapolis in definitely one my very favorite places to stay and I'll gladly be back! June 17, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Very disappointed We were very disappointed in this hotel. The Fitness room was very good, with excellent equipment. The pool was very nice. However, the general condition of the hotel was surprisingly dirty. The faucet in the bathroom leaked, leaving water all over the counter. The refrigerator did not work. Worst of all, we pulled back the covers to go to bed only to find a very large stain on the top sheet and the bottom sheet. It is inconceivable that housekeeping did not notice it when they put the sheets on the bed. Apparently, there were no housekeeping staff working at the time, because we had to get the sheets from the front desk and put them on ourselves. Unacceptable for a hotel in this price range.
