Rated 2 out of 5 by Hotel Rooms and Carpet in Hallway Hotel rooms needs remodeling. Did not have a chair in the room. I was given a regular chair used for meetings. The carpet was dirty in the room and in the hallway. December 2, 2011

Rated 4 out of 5 by Great overall, but needs a couple of tweaks Our suite was really spacious and the A/C worked great (a must in New Orleans during the summer) and had outstanding views. Unfortunately, the elevators were not air conditioned and were very stuffy. This was an issue with a room near the top floor (long, hot rides). The service and food in the Green Bar were excellent, but the room service took 55 minutes for a mediocre breakfast as opposed to the stated 30 minutes - disappointing compared to all other aspects of the hotel/ July 28, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Location with Friendly Staff Hotel is old but from what I saw of it was well kept & clean. Only problem for me was the Extremely Long Very Soft Pillows! Nice size room & bath w/ good amount of countertop. I have stayed at this location before & have to say I prefer the River View over City View but both rooms were nice size & clean. Bathroom wall could use some cosmetic repair but was clean. Felt Very Safe. . Location is perfect!! Friendly Professional Registration Staff!! July 29, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Good Rooms, Poor Facilities I recently visited The Westin, Canal Place for a three-night stay during Jazz Fest. Upon arriving Thursday night we immediately had to deal with the broken elevators. We had to wait nearly 15-minutes for an elevator to arrive and this problem persisted the entire weekend. The staff was very unfriendly about this problem and simply said there was nothing they could do and that they would look into it. In fact one of the people I was traveling with got stuck in the elevator several times. Needless to say this put a damper on our trip. The rooms themselves were nice and clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel itself needs some major updating and its AAA 4-diamond award is certainly deceiving. May 2, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Rooms need work The front desk staff and valets were amazing. The rooms had a lot to be desired. They just seemed dated. There was no where to hang towels in the bathroom. Not all of the electrical outlets worked well. The noise from the hall was very loud. All of our towels, glasses, etc weren't replaced everyday. There were holes in the curtains. The chairs in our room were stained. The common rooms of the hotel were very nice. I loved the bedding and the comfort of the bed. We ordered an extra towel and it came immediately. We loved the hotel as a whole, the room just seemed really dated. March 12, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Ideal location; parking miscommunication I have stayed in a vast array of Starwood hotels, including multiple Westins. This particular hotel has an ideal location. I was in town for a conference at the Convention Center and it was a short bus ride away (bus provided by the conference). Jackson Square, French Quarter, Cafe Du Monde, Bourbon Street, and Harrahs (casino) are all very easy walks from the hotel. It is ideally located above the Shops at Canal Place, which is great for those who enjoy a nice shopping trip. The staff was very welcoming and opened doors and greeted us around every corner. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and mine was very clean. The bathroom ceiling is not in the best shape due to lack of ventilation but served no problem. There are minor repairs going on in the hotel, and I remember waking up to the ceiling in the hallway being worked on one morning. It was fine, however I was in a business suit and I wish they had paused their work as I approached and walked under to get back to my room. The parking is $18.00 per night if you self-park (however if you leave and come back, you pay each time you come in as a new day). The issue I had with parking was that when we finally left, we were 2 hours into the next 24 hour period and they automatically charged us based on the "Shops of Canal Place" pricing opposed to the validated pricing. Our parking pass was validated by the hotel and we felt the validation pricing should stand as we were guests here. The clerk added up the price by hand and we even asked her about it and she stood that she priced it correctly, so somewhere there was a misunderstanding. December 9, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by hotel need improvements We had one chair in our room, and it was dirty. Did not have a refrigerator in room to keep water and wine cool. Had a box there but could not open it Loved your double shower head. The floors were dirty in room and hall. With these improvements, I would recommend your hotel. We had breakfast in the lobby Restaurant. Food was not prepared well and cold when received. July 30, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Water flow, problems flushing, running toilets We were in two different rooms and both had toilet flush problems with one having constant running toilet. Wall outlet did not work in bathroom. Hand towels and facecloths not replenished daily. Food at cocktail reception was very overcooked and dry. Mattress, sleep comfort was exceptional. Surprised with problems as this has not been my experience with other Westin hotels. Problems were reported. July 29, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by This hotel has outlandish parking rates We were not told upfront that the hotel didn't own the parking garages and also the cost of Valet parking, so imagine how upset I was after I had checked out of the hotel and was leaving the garage was was stopped and advised that my parking charge was $33. I will never stay at the Westin of New Orleans again! July 15, 2014

Rated 2 out of 5 by Badly Managed Hotel We stayed at the Westin Canal Place because we were staying with friends and family for a family wedding. The hotel is very difficult to navigate, 3 different sets of elevators to get to your room. Unless you use valet, a $50.00 fee, you can not use any type of rolling cart. Over the 4 days we stayed, there were numerous times that only 1 elevator was operational out of 4. When we checked in, the ladies at the front desk were perfunctory, but not friendly. Housekeeping was very slow, we never had any type of housekeeping service until after 6 p.m., and 2 of those days I had to go seek out clean towels, face cloths, so that we could get showers for our wedding events. The night of the wedding, the Bride and Groom ended up with no room. While getting married, their room was emptied of their belongings and sold to another group. After 4 attempts of getting into other rooms, and opening the doors on other guest, the bride and groom had no place to stay on their wedding night. The management made NO EFFORT to even find a room for them at another hotel. Had the grooms mother not booked a suite with 2 bedrooms, the bride and groom would have had no place to go, but worse the hotel management acted as though it was not their problem. Had it not been for the bride signing a contract and booking approximately 200 guest in that hotel, most would NOT have chosen to stay at The Westin. Another issue was that they advertise parking in the garage as costing $18.00 per day, but they don't tell you to get your ticket validated, so when we had to leave in an emergency, our cost was $75.00 for 2 days of parking. The up side was that the view of the river from our room was beautiful, the room spacious, and the men who worked valet were congenial, and knew how to get a taxi quickly, and were helpful, and the location was good. This was a very disappointing stay, it was the first time we ever stayed at a Starwood property and we will never stay at another one. June 10, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Did not meet expectations This hotel wasn't bad, but it did not live up to the Westin Standard. There were stains on the walls, and peeling paint. The staff was friendly enough, but upon ordering room service twice, I never received my order. I also haven't received my bill folio which I requested upon check out and again called to receive. Everything that we wanted to do on this trip was within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and attentive and having coffee in the lobby was extremely relaxing because of the great view of the river and the cathedral. July 30, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Hotel - Shoddy Rooms Hotel is in the best location and the common rooms are of a high class hotel. The guest rooms however leave a lot to be desired. Dirty carpets, Stained chairs, Missing items such as shower cap and body lotion, We had to ask for slippers which became black when walking on the carpet. Great hotel that could be really great but doesn't quite make it.!! July 29, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful Times! This was my second stay at the hotel. I forgot to write review the first time. The stay was beautiful 3 day stay.....waking up to a river view, with the sun beaming of the water overlooking the river..... was to die for. Hotel exceeded my expectations the first time, which was pure pleasure and second time strictly business. My guy couldn't have picked a more beautiful place to stay....high in the sky! I appreciated being called by name everytime we approached as if we were royalty. I will always come back. July 2, 2014

I could completed my work, supported by Westin service: nice river view, comfortable room condition and perfect service. However, I would like to suggest manage the roof top pool. Locker and water pool was not really clean. Anyway, it was awesome experience. Thank you. June 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Came for a Meeting As a Starwood Platinum guest, I usually stay at Starwood properties even though part of my meeting is at another hotel. I was really glad I did this time. I have been to NOLA many times and have stayed at many of their fine hotels. The Westin Canal Place is a lovely hotel. I used a suite upgrade to assure myself a suite during this busy meeting. The suite, though only a junior suite was very large and had an incredible view. The platinum amenity was breakfast, which was great. The staff and reservations manager, Volker, couldn't have been more helpful. The hotel is built right on top of Rodeo Drive type shopping, although I didn't partake in it this time. Whenever I have business in NOLA, I will definitely stay here. November 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Staff First time to New Orleans and Westin staff couldn't have been better. Initially had some confusion with our reservation (made through central booking) at check in but the hotel Manager quickly corrected and we wound up with an amazing Suite with unbelievable views of the Mississipi and French Quarter. Concierge Susan helped plan each day to make the most of our trip. Susan went above and beyond, even arranging to have my son's back pack, which he inadvertently left behind at hotel, delivered to us at airport by taxi the day we flew home. Rated 2 out of 5 by The hotel is noisy I like this hotel and have stayed many times but on weekends it is very noisy. While we were moved once to get away from the part next door on the 25th floor, the noise on the 26th after 2 a.m. was bothersome to say the least. I know it is New Orleans and people are there to party but there should be an understanding that is not what all guests are doing at the hotel. The hotel is at the edge of the Quarter and markets the facilities to business travelers. Perhaps the weekends do not fall into the marketing concept. July 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by IS GOING TO BE THE BEST HOTEL IN TOWN The Location and views are Fantastic.The hotel has a New Administration and are working to improve and renovate the property. The staff is great and that's why you feel like home. Is a hotel that need and update but the SPG recognition is excellent and for me is very important. They have a New Exercise Room, so this is and example they are working to have a good and renovate hotel in the near future. Is next to the shopping mall. July 25, 2014

Checking in on the 11th floor, with the grand view of the Mississippi River was quite a welcome. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Rated 4 out of 5 by THE WESTIN IS THE WESTIN Big nice rooms with fantastic views to the Mississippi River . The hotel is improving and renovating some areas like the new lobby. It's in the luxury shopping mall, so you only need to change elevators and have and excellent shopping experience, including a nice dinner at Morton's steak house. The grate news is that we have the Best Hotelier and General Manager of New Orleans. Mr David Bilbe and in the near future will be the best hotel in town. But for me is my home in New Orleans. The SPG recognition is Excellent and that's the Big difference. July 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Time at Great Hotel I recently stayed at the Westin New Orleans Canal Place and had a great experience all around. The hotel is perfectly situated within close proximity to all the city has to offer. The rooms are large and comfortable and the housekeeping staff is great. The front desk staff, especially Josh and Michael are very helpful and welcoming. The Concierge, Miss Susan is extremely knowledgable and full of great reccommendations and a great deal of local history and interesting facts you can'r get elsewhere. I highly reccommend this hotel, due mainly to the staff. September 6, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by This hotel has some areas of improvement but also some great employees The first service express agent was very rude; she did not introduce herself (She answered the phone “Service Express…”). The valet didn’t really explain the parking situation so we had to walk through the mall and back out to the hotel entrance around to valet. Areas that exceeded expectation, the in room dining server Danielle (I think) was amazing and so nice also the Service Express agent who took my order was great and 100% on brand; Kudos to those two ladies. Hotel conditions were ok- when we checked in there were coffee filters in our AC unit the? the hskp came and removed them as soon as I showed them to her so that was nice. The safe was locked the mini-bar was empty (both challenges not a big deal just thought I would mention) the train throughout the night was terrible I didn’t get any rest, we were facing harrahs casino- I honestly don’t even know where it was coming from and if it would matter where you were in the hotel.
