1. Room temperature was 23.5-24 c, too hot. Advised desk. Maintenance reported could not be fixed. Desk said they had no rooms to change us to. Very uncomfortable night.
2. Very difficult to moderate water temp in shower. Even when we found the narrow sweet spot, the temp fluctuated.
3. One desk clerk, Marco, was flip, inattentive, and didn't seem to have time to answer basic questions. Unfortunately he was on duty every time I approached desk. Concierge interrupted his phone call when I approached, but gave such a short, curt answer to my question, my wife and I just proceeded on our own.
4. Over 2.5 weeks we stayed at 5 hotels in Italy, One other was 5 star, the remaining were 3 or 4, but they were all more comfortable and courteous than the Westin Palace.
5. I couldn't help thinking the hotel keeps some substandard rooms for those using SPG points - like Room 108. Smaller than I expected, on an air shaft, and definitely not well maintained.
We like Westin and found the above unusual.

My wife and I were very satissfied with our stay at the Milan Westin. We were upgraded to a very nice room on arrival and the staff was extremely helpfull in answering all of our concerns. We were able to walk to all of our destinations as the location is central in the city.

Good hotel I would go back to but not without looking for other options first. Close to train station. Upgraded to really nice room. Food in restaurant is decent but very expensive..I had to eat there because of torrential downpour one evening.

this is the second year in a row that we stayed at the Westin Palace and nothing has changed. A very nice hotel,good location with easy access to many attractions.
WiFi service could be improved and still no coffee in your room. Hope to be back again soon.

I would highly stay in this hotel if am in business trip, I would recommend this hotel for tourist since its far from the tourist spots, service is not bad, staff is ok, rates of the rooms are very acceptable compare to other hotels in same region.

I am a business traveller and have been visiting Milan for over 20years.
This was my first stay at the Westin but between the staff and the hotel environment I am going to make sure it is my permanent choice

Although the staff seemed friendly, and were at times attempting to accommodative, it seems incompetence ruled the days. When I inquired as to why the room would not drop below 25 degrees they
sent maintenance and he un screwed and moved things around and said it was fixed...still no air conditioning and the windows only opened a few cm's, so very uncomfortable. At checkout i asked and they said they had tirned off the a/c because the weather was cool...obviouslynthey forgot to tell maintenance...what d gou expect for 400 euro's per night. When my wife and friend were attempting to get taxi for an excursion, the bell man ignored them until they finally took matters into their own hand and walked down the street to find one on their own. The concierge was only slightly more helpful, although very energetic, refused to give us the type restaurants we wanted, local food. Thank goodness for the bar staff who were extremely nice and helpful. I will watch weather before booing this hotel, location was good for business, people treated us poorly.

are more then 5 years i stay as guest in this hotel and i can really state i feel at home. the entire staff know me by name and are aware of my requests, i do not have to tell each stay. If available i get the same room.

1 telephone recharger in the whole hotel
Personnel at breakfast and gym not welcoming, sometimes rude, looked bored
The terrace on the 8th floor was dirty and looked abandoned

room had torn curtain, no working a/c,
mold around tub, no robe or personal products for 2nd occupant, no turn down service, didn't accept charges to room at lobby bar. not a friendly atmosphere.

Our room was upgraded. I've been upgraded before but not like this. There was a sauna in our suite, with a view if the Duomo in the distance. Fantastic room. Fantastic service. I couldn't fault it.

Without talking about the hardware parts of the hotel which is subjective to everyone taste, the room although upgraded was quite small with early morning cleaning lady quite noisy.
The worst issue of this hotel is the staff, unfriendly, with a sense of arrogance and snooty, it seems they are making a favor to you in answering your questions, looking customer up and down.
Being a platinum guest, i have been offered the classical 500 points or in alternative internet connection, they do not realize that the internet should be free for platinum guest?
Specifically we had a discussion regarding the whether the breakfast should be provided on top of points. Let put in this way, in most of SPG hotels in other part of the world, the breakfast is complementary on top of points for platinum guest, the staff were quite dull in sustaining SPG terms in their hotel discussing for more than 30 mins sustaining that they are right. They do not realize that doing so they are putting the customer to judge negatively on their attitude and they don't understand that arguing for a coffee and a croissant with platinum guest is damaging their image and that of SPG? Maybe they have right (this need to be verified) but this is not the issue, the real issue is the customer had a discussion with staff and left the hotel unhappy, thinking that will never come back to this hotel again.
People make difference and the staffs in the Westin Palace Milan should be reconsidered, they need to go down to earth and have a better sense of service.

An ageing grand hotel - tries hard but ultimately there are better options at this price in Milan.
The Westin is located 5 minutes from the central commercial area of Milan on the Piazza della Repubblica. The upper floors of the Westin command excellent views of Milan. While the building is in the grand old classical style - lots of gold finishing and classical imagery- it is tired and in need of refurbish.
As a platinum I was upgraded to a superior room on the 6th floor but it smelled strongly of smoke (despite being non smoking). After some discussion I was then allocated a room on the 12 floor. Despite being a superior room the room was fairly standard with a shower over the bath. Fittings were worn and the room appeared generally tired.
There is no lounge so breakfast was offered in the main dining area. The breakfast spread was fairly standard and altogether disappointing (the cheese and vegetable omelette was slightly odd and tasteless), particularly considering it cost ���40.
The gym is small but well maintained and has everything you might want for a quick workout.
Other than generally being run down my biggest gripe with the hotel is it's exorbitant pricing. My stay was during a trade show so the room rate was extremely high, however amenities were also amongst the priciest I have come across - for example €15 to get a shirt washed and €37 for a toasted sandwich and bottle of water from room service.
SPG points and night credits from my stay also did not post correctly which took a number of calls and emails to rectify.
All in all a solid hotel in a good location but there are better options out there.

Stayed at this hotel last year and had a nice stay.
The hotel is lovely, elegant and beautifully maintained. This May back again but for 8 days. Was greeted at the front desk by Franceso, very pleasant and professional. My SPG status was acknowledged and was upgraded to a beautiful, large room on the sixth floor. My request for a quiet room was certainly met. I was able to open my windows at night for fresh air & a peaceful nights rest.
The service was excellent. And believe me, during eight days I had many requests. All the concierge were friendly and helpful. Riccardo booked train tickets for my trips to surrounding towns and gave me additional info to get around. Housekeeping was
exceptional, quick and courteous and I am picky.
I only had breakfast in the restaurant, good although a little pricey. Relaxing in the lobby lounge was a treat. Lovely surroundings and the attendant always remembered how I liked my latte.
This year free wifi in the lobby, which was a great improvement. I couldn't connect to my iphone so the assistance manager did it for me. Wifi in the room was perfect, FaceTimed the states everyday.
The location is in a quiet, business area near the Centrale Train Station (a 10 minute walk). Although, you are a quick taxi ride to fine restaurants or a 10 minute walk to great shopping. If you are looking to be near the Duomo with crowds right outside your door - this is not the place for you. That area is a few minutes away by taxi or Metro.
Looking forward to going back next spring. Lovely, intimate hotel with truly caring, professional staff. What a pleasure.

I have read the negative feedbacks about this hotel And a lot of it has to do with value and the administration writes back that we are so sorry and it is just laughable where they don't just offer something to the person that they feel they were cheated out of especially if it was an experience that they should've been comfortable with. I was traveling with my family and worked out all the details with breakfast and with Wi-Fi with my platinum status and it turned out that they read the letter of the platinum contract and would not extend the breakfast courtesy or the Internet to the second room which I paid equal to the amount of the first room. I was told there was a certain amount of cash and points and when I left it seemed double that amount along with the stingy platinum rule, the room was on one of the lowest floors which had tons of noise and there was plenty of time to make that a perfect experience with the higher floors and the better views but it never happened. The management should be fired and replaced because of the chintzy offering of a breakfast that might've been worth $10-$20 in the states but was going for $60 and was the least expensive that I saw on my trip in Europe his year. Overall this experience made me rethink along with the amount of monies that I had to spend about this platinum and the points that I better used with another card because the value is not even close to being equal with the competition. I would also only recommend to anyone else to stay at a hotel which has a club floor Especially if they are traveling with their family And paying dearly for these benefits
